Chapter 19:(RAI'S POV)

Naruto and Mao returned to the village.. Without Sasuke. Mao has been locked in her room since.

We all got to the leaf safely.. No one died yet some of us suffered major injures... And some of us got in trouble by Granny.. Aka Lady Hokage.

"YOU GUYS WENT WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!" She yelled. Kosuke, Sora, Lee, and I were all getting yelled out. Mao would be here but again she was locked in her room.

"Sorry Granny." I said while waving her off. A tick mark appeared on her head.

"OUT OF ALL PEOPLE YOU WENT! YOU COULD'VE GOTTEN YOURSELF KILLED IF YOU SUFFERED ONE HIT ON YOUR THROAT!" She yelled.

"Well.. I'm alive."

"I'm sorry Lady Hokage! This will not happen again." Bushy Brow said while bowing. Granny stopped yelling and rubbed her temples.

"Just next time. Come to me before you go off running." Granny said. We all bowed.

"Lee you may go. I need to talk to these three alone." She said. Bushy Brow bowed and walked out.

"You three.. Well four including Mao will be heading to the sand with the Sand Siblings. I read here how you are almost already done your training there. This would be a good way to show that the alliance between us is good. The training.. I'm not entirely sure. I don't think you'll be sent back to an academy there. I'm not sure. When you get there the elders will tell you what you'll be doing. You will be leaving at the end of this week." Granny said. We all stared at her shocked. Out of all times she decided this now?

"How long will we be gone?" Kosuke said

"Six months at the least." She said. Six months at the sand?!

"I accept." Sora said.

"Same here." Kosuke said.

"Ay." I agreed

"Do you think Mao would agree?" She asked. I shrugged.

"I'll ask her." Kosuke said. Granny nodded.

"After you get an answer from here come back to me. You three are dismissed." Granny said. We bowed and walked out.

"Six months at the sand.." Sora repeated. I nodded.

"Wow... But seriously. Out of all times she decided this now?" Kosuke said. I nodded.

"I know right! But.. What she said was true. If we do this then people would see that our alliance is pretty strong." Sora said. I nodded in agreement. A leaf and sand shinobi. Well there's going to be four of them if Mao agrees.

"I think Mao would agree what do you think?" Sora asked.

"I'm not sure.." Kosuke confessed.

"She probably would want to stay here because of Shino and Sasuke." Sora said. I nodded. THIS FUCKING SUCKS ALL I CAN DO IS NOD!

Kosuke said he'll teach me how to convey my thoughts to others, so he's not doing it for me anymore.

"I wonder what training we'll do." Kosuke said. I shrugged.

"Hey guys!" Temari said. I looked up to see all the Sand Siblings. Sora grinned at her.

"Temari!' She yelled. Temari and her hugged. Kosuke and Kankuro did that bro hug. And Gaara just nodded at them.

"Babygirl!" Kitty-Chan yelled. I grinned at him and hugged him.

"Blue" Temari said . I smirked and hugged her.

"Did you guys hear what's going on about us going to the sand?" Kosuke asked.

"Wait what!?" Temari said. Kitty-Chan looked at us shocked. Gaara's eyes widened a bit.

"Yeah. Granny wants to send us back with you guys. We are gonna stay there for six months and finish are training to become a sand shinobi. It'll definitely help the alliance between us." Sora explained. Temari looked shocked.

"So wait.. You guys are coming to the sand?!" She asked. We nodded. Mao is just gonna get forced.

"HOLY SHIT THAT'S AWESOME!" Temari yelled. Sora and her started jumping around.

"You guys are finally coming home." Kankuro said smirking. Kosuke laughed but nodded.

"Where are you guys staying?" Kankuro asked. I shrugged.

"When we go to the sand they're going to tell us everything." Sora said. Temari nodded.

"Imagine if you guys got to stay with us!" Temari said. Sora started squealing.

"That would be cool." Sora said. I smiled at how happy they were. I started sensing something bad and frowned.

"Rai what is it?" Kosuke asked. Since I could't talk I normally just focus on everything around me. Normally I'm distracted and talking but now my listening skills are great. I can also sense stuff quickly.

I shook my head and shrugged. I sniffed the air... Blood? ... Mao's blood!? My eyes widen.

"MAO!" Kosuke yelled. I nodded and sprinted off to the hideaway. Everyone followed quickly. What is she doing!?

I busted through the door and ran towards Mao's room. The scent of blood was filling my nose. I knocked on the door and heard crying. I tried to wiggle the knob but it was locked. I growled and kicked the door open.

Mao was there with cuts on her thighs and arms. A crystal with her blood laid next to her. My eyes widen.

"MAO WHAT THE HELL!?" Sora screamed. Mao started sobbing.

"Mao why?!" Kosuke yelled. I ran to her side and picked her up bringing her to the bathroom. I placed her gently in the tub and started filling it up.

"I'll grab the bandages." Sora said. She ran out and went into my room.

"Mao.. Why would you do something like this?!" Temari asked. Tears were streaming down.

"I-I don't know." Mao sobbed. I frowned and took off her shirt. She had cuts all around her stomach.

I started healing her arms. Scars was still visible. The water was beginning to turn red.

"Mao.." Kankuro started. Sora rushed in. We were all packed into the bathroom. Gaara's eyes widen.

"Shino is on a mission." Sora said frowning. Mao nodded.

"Rai.." Mao started. I looked in her eyes. I knew exactly why she did this...

I shook my head.

"That isn't a good reason." Kosuke said, he tensed up.

"What are you talking about?" Temari asked. I looked down and started healing Mao's stomach.

"Rai." Kosuke started. I shot him a look.

"They have to know." Kosuke said. I shook my head and frowned. I tried to talk.

"M-Mao." I whispered. My voice was deep and rough.

"Rai you can talk!" Mao said while smiling slightly. I nodded. Everyone smiled slightly but it turned into a frown.

Sora walked in and stood at the doorway. All of Mao's cuts were healed.. But you can still see all the scars.

My throat was hurting but I expected that.

"Rai... Can you sing?" Mao asked with closed eyes. I hesitated before nodding..

"Rai I don't thin-" Sora said. I waved her off.

"I'm fine." I said smiling. Sora nodded. I know how much Mao likes throwbacks song so I decided to pick one of those. Every gathered around us.

Tears were streaming down Mao's face.

"That was beautiful." Gaara said. I looked over and smiled.

"I'm sorry guys." Mao said. We shook our heads.

"Why?" I asked.

"I just.. I felt like I failed the world. I don't know why." Mao said shaking her head. I frowned.

"Don't do this anymore okay?" I said. She nodded.

"I'll stay here with her..I need to talk to her alone." Sora said. I nodded and we all headed out.

"I have to go on a quick mission... I'll be back in a couple of hours." Kosuke said. He sighed and gathered his stuff before leaving. He kissed my forehead and smiled down at me.

"Be safe okay?" He asked. I nodded and hugged him.

"Love you Rai." He said. I smiled.

"Love you too." I said. I watched as he walked out. Temari and Kankuro sat on the couch. Gaara stood at a corner and I was sitting on the ground. Silence took over us.

"I never would expect Mao to do something like that." Kankuro said. I shook my head.

"Me either." Temari said. She dragged her hands across her face. Gaara looked confused.

"Why would she want to inflict pain on herself?" Gaara asked. I sighed.

"She thinks she deserves the pain. The pain helps her clear her mind." I explained.

"But she shouldn't have done it." Kankuro said. I nodded.

"Have she ever done it before?" Temari asked. I shook my head.

"Never." I said.

Sora walked out of the bathroom.

"Mao agreed to go to Suna with us." Sora said while smiling. I smiled back and nodded.

"Kosuke went on his mission?" She asked. I nodded.

"I'm going to go tell Granny that we accept the mission." I said. Sora nodded.

"I'll go with you." Gaara said. I nodded and started walking out. Gaara followed closely behind. This day just got depressed quickly. We walked together in silence.

"Where's Naruto?" Gaara asked.

"He's not going to be back for awhile.. He went to train with Pervy Sage." I said. Gaara nodded.

It was still kind of awkward between us considering the last time we saw each other.. It wasn't too pretty.

We finally arrived at Granny's building. I said hello to the guards quickly before heading towards her office.

I knocked quietly, there was a quick pause before she answered.

"Come in" Granny said. I opened the door and walked in, Gaara trailing behind me closely.

"Rai. Gaara. What are you two doing here?" She asked.

"We accept the misson... All of us." I said. Granny looked up from her paperwork and smiled.

"Great. This will definitely help the alliance between both villages." She said. I nodded.

"Do you have any other intel?" Gaara asked. Granny nodded.

"Actually I do. I'm still not sure what you guys will be doing but the Leaf Siblings and Kosuke will be staying with the Sand Siblings. We already got everything worked out." Granny said.

"Ohh cool. Sora and Temari will be happy to hear this." I said smiling. I bowed and waved.

"We should get going." I said. Granny nodded.

"You two are dismissed." She said. Gaara bowed and walked out. I followed shortly.

"Are you excited?" Gaara asked. I smiled and nodded.

"I'm going to miss the leaf though." I said. Gaara nodded.

"Luckily you'll be able to visit." He said. I nodded.

"We need to tell everyone.." I said while sighing.. Gaara nodded.

"Rai..?" He said.

"Yeah?" I answered.

"That day we last saw each other.. I'm sorry for what I said.." Gaara said slowly.

"Don't worry about it." I said while smiling. I have to say it hurt me yes. But I mean I didn't really let it get to me... Gaara shook his head.

"I said things that weren't true. I almost killed you!" He said. I could tell he was beating himself up over this.

"Yeah. You almost killed me." I said while smirking. Gaara's eye widened.

"I was looking forward to the day you'll actually have the balls to even touch me." I added. Gaara glared at me.

"Well I did." He said. I nodded.

"So are you going to try to find a way to kill me or are you going to beat yourself up whenever you hurt me?" I asked. Gaara thought for a moment.

"I'll protect you." He said. I smiled.

"And I'll protect you." I said as I poked his chest. He smiled lightly at me.

"We'll protect each other." He said grabbing my hand and slipping his fingers through mine.

"Yeah.. Protect each other." I repeated. We walked in silence back to the hideaway.

"RAI! YOU CAN TALK!" Naruto yelled tackling me into a hug. I laughed and hugged him back.

"NARUTO! I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!" I yelled back. Naruto came back for a little so he can see us before we go. Such a wonderful best friend.

"NARUTO!" Mao yelled. Naruto looked up and grinned. He ran towards Mao and swung her around.

"MAO!" He yelled. Mao started giggling. Sora popped her head out of the kitchen and saw Naruto.

"BAKA!" She yelled. Naruto turned and grinned.

"SORA!" He yelled back. Sora hugged him and laughed .

"YO NARUTO!" Kosuke yelled.

"KOSUKE!" Naruto yelled. They did that bro hug.. thingy..

"Naruto what's up?" Kankuro said waving. Naruto nodded and waved back.

"Nothing really." He said. He turned towards Temari and nodded.

"Naruto." Gaara said. Naruto grinned.

"Hey Gaara!" He said.

"RAI! YOUR HAIR!" Naruto shouted. I raised and eyebrow and looked at my hair.

"What about it?" I asked.

"It's long!" He said. I started laughing. I began to wear my hair down a lot more.

"Not really." I said while shrugging. It was only at my shoulders.

We're all gathered around a bonfire at the training grounds.. All the rookies, us, and the sand siblings.. All the Sensei's are here too!

"It's going to be weird without you four here." Iruka Sensei said. Everyone nodded.

"We're only gonna be three days away." Mao said shrugging. She was snuggled against Shino.

"That's like what? One day for you guys? You better visit. Rai can just transport you guys here." Sakura said. I started laughing.

"I'm only coming back for the ramen." I joked. Everyone laughed.

"What a drag. I can see that happening." Shikamaru said while yawning. I grinned at him.

"I never knew we were so loved." Kosuke said while smirking.

"That's cause you aren't, but those three girls.." Asuma Sensei said. Kosuke sweatdropped. We all started laughing like crazy.

"We have that affect on people." Sora said.

"OHH WE HAVE SOMETHING FOR YOU GUYS! RAI MADE IT THOUGH!" Mao yelled. Oh yeah!

"Urm.. I think I made them.." I said. Sora sweatdropped.

"You forgot didn't you." She said. I nodded.

"RAI!" Mao yelled. I start laughing.

"I'm kidding I'm kidding gosh!" I said putting my hands up. I grabbed the necklaces out of my pocket.

"They're necklaces.. But special ones." Sora said. I gave them to Mao and she passed them out.

"Whoa they're amazing!" Kiba said. I smiled.

"It's made on chakra strings for reasons I presume?" Kakashi Sensei asked. I nodded.

"If your necklace ever breaks you just focus your chakra on one half and it'll fix it. Focus your chakra on both side of the strings and it'll turn into a kunai." I said.

"You never know when you'll need an extra kunai." Kosuke said while shrugging.

"This is amazing!" Kurenai Sensei said.

"I of course made the crystal, and Rai added the sand and water." Mao said. Each necklace had a crystal. In the middle of the crystal I wrote their names in sand.

"This is everyone's favorite color right?" Mao asked. Everyone nodded.

"I thought you could only made pink crystals!" Naruto said. I started laughing.

"That's where I come in. We had to get some dye and I mixed it into the water.. Then I poked a tiny hole inside the crystal and filled it with the colored water." I said.

"This is just.. Wow. Thanks girls!" Gai Sensei said. I smiled.

"I added some of my chakra into each necklace.. If one of you ever dies, your crystal will appear on each of our necklaces." I said showing them mine. I had a black one. CAUSE IT'S THE COLOR OF MY DAMN SOUL .-.

"Really?!" Iruka Sensei asked. I nodded.

"How did you attempted to do that?" Neji asked. I shrugged.

"I don't know.. So.. I better not see any of your crystals next to mine soon okay?!" I said. They all laughed but nodded.

"Good." Mao said.

"Thank you!" Hinata said. She slipped hers on.

"You're welcome!" Mao said while smiling.

Kakashi focused his chakra to both strings, it turns into a kunai.

"Wow! This is amazing!" He said while turning the kunai around.

"How do we turn it back?" Neji asked.

"Say something or the name of someone you love." Sora said. She turned her necklace into a kunai.

"Hm.. Leaf siblings." She said, then the kunai turned back into a necklace.

"You just say something you love? How?" Kakashi Sensei asked.

"Because of your chakra. When you turn it into a kunai the necklace has your chakra in it correct?" Sora asked. Everyone nods.

"So basically it's connected to you. We were going to make it where you focus your chakra into it but we didn't want to waste unnecessary chakra.. Plus Asuma uses his chakra for his blades. We didn't want the kunai to turn back into a necklace when he needs it." Mao explained.

"These are also chakra blades?!" Asuma asked. I nodded.

"How?!" He asked. I shrugged.

"Secret." I said. Everyone laughs. (Whenever I say everyone laughs.. Meaning everyone who isn't a killjoy.. *Cough* Shino and Gaara *Cough*)

"This is so emotional." Bushy Brow said while anime crying.

"Urm.. I guess." Mao said. I started laughing.

"We're always going to be with you guys. This is gonna be so cliche but we have each other in our hearts. Even if we aren't here physically.. We're gonna be with each other mentally." I said. I smiled at everyone, they all smiled back.

"We are all connected whether you like it or not!" Mao said. Everyone laughs.

"I'm gonna miss you Baka Rai." Kiba said. I smirked at him.

"I'm gonna miss you too Mutt." I said. Akamaru jumped down from Kiba and walked over to me.

"Hey Akamaru. I have something for you." I said. I reached into my pocket and grabbed Akamaru's necklace. Yes I made one for him too.

"THANKS RAI!" Akamaru barked. I smiled and tied the necklace on. It was the shape of a dog treat and it was white.

"LOOK KIBA! LOOK KIBAAAA KIBAAAA!" Akamaru said jumping around. Kiba started laughing.

"I see it Akamaru!" Kiba said. Akamaru licked my face. I giggled and pet him.

"I gonna miss you four." Iruka said. I smiled up at him.

"I gonna miss all of you guys." Mao said. I smirked.

"I AIN'T GONNA MISS ANYONE!" I yelled.

"Way to ruin the moment." Kosuke said. I stuck my tongue out.

"Just kidding you know I'll miss you all." I said. I really am.

"Well you're coming back after those six months right?" TenTen asked. I nodded

"Hopefully. I don't see why not." Sora said.

"They'll be in good hands." Temari said.

"Yeah! We'll try not to kill Rai though." Kitty-Chan said. I playfully glared at him.

"I think you should worry about Rai killing you." Gaara said emotionlessly. It got silent for awhile before we all burst out laughing.

"Yeah, yeah whatever." Kitty-Chan mumbled.

"Well we gotta go! We have a little meeting to attend.. Leaf siblings and Kosuke. I'll miss you all. You better come visit okay?" Iruka said while standing up.

"I told you already. I'm coming back for the ramen." I said while smirking. He laughed and walked over. He hugged Mao.

"Mao you be good okay? Always be happy and make friends." Iruka said. Mao nodded.

"Will do Iruka Sensei!" Mao said cheerfully. He smiled and walked over to Sora.

"You, look after your sisters.. Don't let them get in to much trouble." Iruka Sensei said. Sora laughed and hugged him.

"Hai Iruka Sensei." He smiled and walked over to Kosuke patting his shoulder.

"You better look after all of them okay? Be protective." Iruka said. Kosuke started laughing.

"I know!" He said. Iruka smiled and walked over to me pulling me into a hug.

"Rai... Look after them." He mumbled. I smiled.

"Don't do anything too reckless." He said out loud. I nodded.

"I'll try not too." I said. He laughed.

"We'll miss you Iruka Sensei!" Mao said. He nodded and waved as he walked away.

"Well. I guess that's our cue to go too." Asuma Sensei said. He walked over to Sora and pulled her into a hug.

"Kid. You're gonna go far." He said. He hugged the rest of us and walked away.

Gai Sensei walked over to Kosuke and crushed him into a hug.

"I'LL MISS YOU KOSUKE! THE YOUTH IN YOU WAS SO POWERFUL!" He yelled. He crushed all of us into a hug and walked away.

Kakashi walked over to us next. He gave us a closed eye smile.

"You all behave!" He said. Then he poofed.

Kurenai Sensei walked over to me.

"Rai.. Be careful okay?" She said. I nodded. She hugged me and hugged the rest of us before walking away.

We all watched them walk away.

"This is depressing." Sakura said. I nodded.

We all sat in comfortable silence.. The only noise was the fire crackling as the sticks burn slowly.

"Shino and I will be right back." Mao said. Shino and Mao walked away hand in hand.

"It must be hard for them two." Ino said. I frowned and nodded.

"Hopefully they stay together though." Sakura said.

"The distance might be hard." TenTen said. I nodded.

"They'll make it work." Sora added.

"She made Shino less creepy though." Naruto said watching them disappear.

"Mao likes Shino too much. She wouldn't break it off." Temari said. I nodded.

"Who knows?" I said while shrugging. We all turned back to the fire.

"Rai.. Can you sing?" Naruto asked. I raised an eyebrow.

"Do you see how deeper my voice is now?" I asked. Gaara's eye found mine and I smiled.

"And? It's still great!" Temari said. Kitty-Chan smirked.

"Even Gaara thought so." He said. I rolled my eyes. Gaara just stared into the fire.

"Fine, fine.." I said. Everyone cheered.

Everyone started clapping, I smiled at them. I looked across the fire where Gaara was. I saw him looking at me and smiled.

"This is our last night together." Sora said. Everyone nods.

"We need to do something crazy." I said.

"What do you mean?" Kiba asked. I shrugged.

"We need to do something that we would always remember. Something we always wanted to do together." I said.

"Hmm. Like what? It like.. 10 now." Sora said. Who has a meeting at this late at night always?

"I think the Senseis lied to us. Who has a meeting this late?" I asked. Everyone started laughing.

"They probably did." Kiba said. I shook my head and grinned.

"Lets.. Hm.. I'm not entirely sure." Kosuke said.

"Let's play tag." I said smirking.

"Tag?" Neji asked. I nodded.

"Like a giant game of tag. We can run all around the village and stuff!" I said. Everyone grins and nods.

"Lets do it!" Kiba yelled.

"Gaara do you wanna play?" I asked. Gaara looked at me before nodding, I grinned at him.

"Okay.. Hmm. Two people are it.. So pick your teammate." I said. Kiba had Akamaru. Neji and TenTen. Sora and Kosuke. Temari and Shikamaru. Ino and Sakura. Hinata and Naruto. Choji and Bushy Brow. Mao and Shino. Gaara and I.

"If one of your teammate get's tagged then you both are it." I explained. Everyone nodded.

"If anyone sees Mao and Shino tell them about what we're doing." Sora said. Everyone nodded.

"KIBA AND AKAMARU YOU'RE IT!" I yelled. Kiba was yelling about how that wasn't fair, but we all darted away.

"I'm surprised you wanted to play." I said. Gaara looked over and nodded.

"I'm trying." He said. I smiled at him.

"You're doing great." I said. He nodded.

We heard shouts and screams of everyone else.

"Looks like Kiba tagged someone." I said.

"OH COME ON!" Naruto shouted.

"Naruto." Gaara said. I nodded. He normally didn't talk when we were around anyone else. More just trying not to glare at anyone.

"DAMMIT HINATA!" Sora yelled. I laughed. Sora and Kosuke.

Gaara ran beside me. We were hopping from roof to roof. Gaara didn't really smile around me as offend. I missed that little smile.

"What time are we leaving tomorrow?" I asked.

"Early in the morning." He replied. I nodded and sighed. I'm going to miss the leaf.. A lot. But I couldn't wait to go to the sand!

"Remember when we used to sit on the roof of your house.. We used to steal cookies and eat them up there." I said while laughing at the memory. I looked into Gaara's eyes and saw amusement.

"We used to made things out of sand and drop it on people." Gaara said. I laughed again and nodded.

"We were such trouble makers." I said. Gaara offered me a small smile. I grinned.

We stopped at the hideaway and sat on the roof. So far no one tried to tag us.

"I wonder what training we would have to do." I said. Gaara just stared out. The village looked beautiful from up here.

I finished placing all of my things into the scrolls. It was pretty early. Everyone was still asleep. They all decided to crash at the hideaway.

"Ready Rai?" Temari asked. I nodded. I carefully walked around the sleeping bodies.

"I'm going to miss them." Mao said. She walked over to Shino and kissed his forehead. They're still together :3

"I am too." Sora said. Shikamaru was awake.. Surprise isn't it? But he has to walk us too the gate.. I'll just make it easier and transport us there.

"Bye Shikamaru!" Mao yelled while hugging him. Shikamaru laughed under his breath and hugged Mao back. We all took our turns to hug him.

"If you ever need us.. Just call us.. Crybaby." Temari said while smirking. Shikamaru rolled his eyes.

"Tch. Troublesome women. Always wanting the last word." Shikamaru said while smirking. I started smirking at them.

"Ohh get it." I said while winking. Temari blushed and looked away.

"You guys have a safe trip okay?" Shikamaru said. I smiled and nodded.

"Will do!" Sora said. They hugged again and we started walking away. Away from the leaf.....I'm going to miss you all...

Little did we know... This was going to be the last time we saw the leaf for awhile.
