The Message

"Steven, Homeworld... it's not the way it used to be! Everything is so advanced, I can't even understand it!"

Lapis was recording her message through Homeworld's Earth access camera. She hoped it'd be able to transmit through the Wailing Stone and get to Steven on time. If the Wailing Stone could even transmit video...

Peridot burst into the room at the end of her message. "Lapis, what are you doing?!"

"Sending a message to Steven. I'm going back to Earth. And I'm taking you with me."

"No, Lapis... I-I can't! I'm loyal to Homeworld now... and what about what happened last time?!"

Lapis clenched her fists. "I don't want to talk about last time."

"I'm not going to hurt you again!"

"Then come with me! It'll hurt me so much more if you don't! Wondering what happened to you, where you are, if you're hurt... I can't live like that!"

"Then don't!" Peridot's gem was flickering like lightning, giving off an unstable light. "If you're not going to stay and you can't live without me, just break your gem so we can go back to the way things were!"

Lapis recoiled. "P-Peridot..."

Jasper, the buff Gem who escorted and advised Peridot, came into the room and grabbed Lapis by the arm. "Peridot! Yellow Diamond approved our mission. Shall we take this prisoner to the ship?"

The light didn't die down. "Certainly."
