Dear diary

Life is so great.I think I've never been so happy in my life before. A few weeks ago, Billie played me her song ocean eyes . And it's amazing. I never thought that Billie could sing so well. Right after listening to it for the first time, I instantly made her send it to me so I could constantly listen to it. And that's what I've been doing all day every day . It's just soo good.

Billie also wants to choreograph a dance to her song and asked if I want to be in it . You can imagine what my answer was.

"Yes."Obviously,what else.Anyway, gotta go. I'm going over to Billies again.

Real life

Stepping inside Billies welcoming home , I could immediately hear the soft sounds of billes voice coming from finneas' room.

"Hey Valerie. How are you, sweetie? "Asked Billies mom Maggie coming from the kitchen. I've been over so many times that I could just let myself in . Maggie had given me a key a few weeks back so that I wouldn't have to sneak through Billie's bedroom window every night when she would text me late asking if I could sleep over.

I knew Billie slept better when she wasn't alone. And so would I. Maggie and Patrick don't have a problem with that. And they are always so welcoming. They knew that mom and dad would always work late, and they didn't like the idea of me being home alone all day. I had kinda just become a part of the family.

"I'm great! How about you?" I said, following maggie into the kitchen.

"I'm good. Look-"

She pointed to a plate full of freshly baked vegan cookies on the countertop .

"-I baked some cookies again. Why don't you take them with you to finneas' room. They've been in there for a while now .I'm sure they're hungry. "

"Thanks, maggie."I took the plate and walked down the hall to finneas' room.I lightly locked on the door, not wanting to interrupt anything. Instantly, the door swung open, revealing a smiling Billie.

"Val, finally I thought you would never make it," pulling me into the room with her."Got caught up with your mom in the kitchen. Look, she made cookies, " holding out the plate before placing it on the table next to the bed.

"Great,  I'm starving! Little Miss wants everything perfect has been tormenting me for the past 2h." said finneas while pulling off his headphones before grabbing one of the cookies.

"That is not true!" Billie threw a pillow after finneas.

"Please don't kill each other in my presence. Do that when I'm gone, "I said while also grabbing a cookie off the plateBillie threw her head back, laughing, which also made me giggle.

"Yeah, whatever, guys .I'm heading to Claudia for a bit."finneas got up and grabbed his things .

"What, but we aren't finished yet!"Billie whined.

"Yeah, but I know we aren't gonna be probably working because you always get distracted when Valerie is here." Billie just gave Finneas a look.

"I can leave so you guys can finish. No problem, " I chimed in, breaking the akward silence that had formed.

"No, it's ok, Valerie. You can stay. I promised Claudia  that I would come over today anyway.  And Billie needs a break, too." With that, Finneas left, leaving me and Billie alone.

"Can I hear what you have so far?"I asked, sitting down next to Billie on the bed.

"Yeah. So this one's probably called hostage. But it's not fully done."Billie pressed play, and the notes started to filter through the speakers.

I closed my eyes and leaned back on the bed, letting the music envelope me whole.

After the song ended, obviously not fully finished, I slowly opened my eyes again  to see Billie looking down at me with an unreadable expression. "Wow," I huffed out . A slight uncertainty in my voice like i couldn't believe the absolute masterpiece i had just heard was real."That's amazing "I whispered after a while.

"Really ?" Billie sounded surprised like she had thought I would tell her that it was possible.

"Yeah."

I was still laying on my back, Billie hovering over me so that we were almost face to face . She had that unreadable expression that I just couldn't figure out.

We just looked at each other ,not saying a thing. The silence wasnawkwardard. It was surprisingly comforting.

And then billie slightly leaned in. Her nose almost touching mine. She looked like she wanted to say something,  but uncertainty glid in her eyes.

Her lips slightly parted . Damn, I couldn't stop looking at her lips they looked so soft.

"Billie,I-"

I got interrupted by Maggie calling us.Billie shot up and got off the bed, putting a good distance between us."Good that you like the song. I just have to finish it somehow,"I just nooded still kind shaken from what the fuck just happened. "Come on, we shouldn't keep my mom waiting." With that, she'd opened the door and left. Not waiting for me.

Whatever just  happened or not happened  had left me confused.

Take a deep breath, Valerie. I told myself and followed Billie out.
