Chapter 6

14:13, 30 June 2023

Sam had just finished getting dressed when Colby came into his room, holding a box.

" I have a surprise for you," said Colby. " I had ordered it long ago, before everything happened. I'm glad I don't have to send it back."

He set the box down on Sam's bed and he happily opened it up. It was a beautiful white leather clothing set.

" What's this for?" asked Sam.

" The red carpet premiere I'm taking you to tonight," said Colby.

" Red carpet?" asked Sam.

" Yea, we did a song for a movie so they want us all there," said Colby, " but luckily, we all get a plus one."

" You didn't have to buy me a whole new wardrobe," said Sam.

" I told you, I want to show you off," said Colby.

" Okay then," said Sam, smiling and kissing the brunette.

When the limo pulled up to the red carpet entrance, Sam let out a huge breath. He was a little nervous. He suddenly felt a hand gently squeeze his and looked up to see Colby smiling at him. He was hoping that no one could see the fear in his eyes through the sunglasses he had paired with his outfit.

"Damn, I've never seen anyone more sexy in my life," said Colby. Sam was smiling from ear to ear.

" What if they don't like me?" asked Sam.

" Well, I still like you," said Colby. Sam giggled.

" Ready?" asked Colby.

" I'm ready," said Sam.

When the door to the limo opened, Colby stepped out first and then Sam. Colby held his hand the whole time as the camera's flashed all around. They posed for several photos and then talked to a few interviewers. Sam had felt awkward during all the interviews but Colby reassured him he had done just fine.

Sam and Colby were met by thousands of fans outside the premiere venue at the end of night. All of them were eager to get a glimpse of Colby's new man in person. Among the fans were also paparazzi. Colby didn't mind having fans around, as most of them have heard of common courtesy and knew to give him space, but paparazzi didn't know the definition of personal space.

Colby held Sam's hand tightly as security led them through the mobs of people outside of the venue to the limo that was waiting. Both of them held on for dear life. Sam's hand suddenly slipped from Colby's and he tried to turn around and look behind him, but he couldn't see Sam through the crowd of people. Colby began to panic.

" Sam, where are you?" yelled Colby.

The screaming fans drowned out any means of yelling to Sam, then suddenly Colby saw him through the crowd. He pushed through, trying to get to Sam. When he finally reached him, he wrapped his arms around Sam and led him through the crowd. Shielding him from the cameras. The fans stayed back but the paparazzi were right in their faces.

" Get out of the way, please," said Colby, but they didn't listen.

Many fans began pushing their way in front of the paparazzi, separating them from the boys and shielding them long enough to get their limo. Both of them quickly slid into the back and security shut the door.

" Is it always like that?" asked Sam.

" Yeah," said Colby. " I'm sorry."

Sam smiled. " Don't be, I'm all in, for every part," he said, gently taking Colby's hand.

Colby had made sure to thank them all on Twitter, praising his amazing fans for what they had done.

After the red carpet event, they had a party at the Traphouse. They had invited several friends who were also at the premiere to the party and everything was going great. Colby was happy though, when it was finally over. Ever since Sam came back, they hadn't really got time to spend together just the two of them. The roommates had got the memo, and cleared out to go to a friend's house when the party ended.

Colby sat with Sam on the Lovesac in the living room, making out. Sam had tried to pull away, but Colby took Sam's face in his hands and kept pulling him back in.

"Woah, easy tiger," said Sam.

" I'm sorry," said Colby. " I just want to keep you close. I'm not losing you again. It would break me." He kissed Sam once again.

" I told you I wasn't going anywhere," said Sam. " I mean it this time."

Colby smiled at him just as they heard a commotion coming from the kitchen. Both of their heads whipped around to look behind them. Colby quickly got up, and Sam followed. They hadn't even rounded the corner when Brennen suddenly bursted in.

" Don't! Move!" said Brennen, as he came in with a gun.

Brennen fired two shots to the ceiling as a warning. Brennen was in distress and he pointed the gun straight at Sam and Colby. As soon as Colby had seen the gun, he immediately pushed Sam behind him, slowly backing away.

" You!" said Brennen, attempting to aim his gun at Sam. " You did this!"

" Brennen, stop!" said Colby.

" Shut up!" yelled Brennen. " Just shut up. I told you I would come for you."

" Look, I know you're in pain and I know that you're hurting," said Colby. " But Sam didn't cause that, I did. Sam did nothing to you. I'm the one who caused you that pain, so if you're gonna start firing bullets, fire them at the one who deserves it."

Brennen hesitated but then pointed the gun straight at Colby's chest. Colby felt Sam's fingers digging into his arm as he held Colby tightly. He glanced back at Sam to assure him that he was alright.

" Think about what you're doing, Brennen," said Colby. " Think about your next move." He was slowly and carefully still backing away.

" I just want the pain to stop," said Brennen. " You don't know what it's like, Colby."

" You're right," said Colby. " I don't, but I do know one thing. You've got a good thing going here. Think of the fans and the band. This will ruin your life. Don't throw everything away because of some stupid choice you decided to make."

Brennen's hand was shaking, he had tears forming in his eyes.

" We're gonna help you, okay?" said Colby. He slowly moved towards Brennen when he lowered the gun.

Brennen fell to his knees, breaking down into tears. The gun fell from his hand. Colby knelt to his level, gently placing a hand on his shoulder. Sam called the cops, they explained the situation and then they took Brennen away.

A couple of days later, they saw the tweet from Brennen that said he was leaving the band for a while to focus on his mental health and work on himself. Colby was secretly very proud of him.
