Still covered in cuts and scars, the seven walked into the elevator doors to Olympus. Gaea had just been conquered and lured back into her just sleep moments before.
Though they had fought a great battle, the seven demigods were all sending blinding smiles to each other. Including the couple who came back from Tartarus just a few days prior.
"We did it, Percy," Annabeth said. "We defeated Gaea."
Percy smiled at her with a twinkle in his sea-green eyes. "Yes, we did, Wise Girl. Just like we did with Kronos and just like we will with the next moron who tries to take us down."
The elevator doors opened and the seven walked out into the land of the Gods. Annabeth smiled at as she looked around Olympus. Partly because being here meant the war was over, but mainly because she had been the one to redesign Olympus after the Second Titan War.
Annabeth took Percy's hand and they made their way to the throne room. The rest of the seven followed the couple.
As they entered the throne room, the unmistakable feeling of anger, disappointment, and sadness rolled into one rippled through the air. Each of the Olympians held the expression of one or all of the emotions.
"Perseus Jackson!" Zeus thundered with venom laced in his words. Percy winced at the sound of his full name. Nothing good ever came of that. Nonetheless, he let go of his girlfriend's hand and stepped forward.
Unlike Zeus, Poseidon gave off the feeling of sadness and disappointment alike. His hair became whiter than pearls and wrinkles took up every inch of his face.
Hades and Hestia were the only gods not present. The hearth, where Hestia would normally be treating the fire, was cold and dark.
"You," Zeus pointed a finger at Percy from his throne. "betrayed us. Before Mother Earth was lured back into her slumber, she admitted she was using you as a spy."
At the last word, Zeus spat on Percy.
The throne room descended into pure chaos. The six immediately jumping to Percy's defense while a majority of the gods backed Zeus's claim. Multiple arguments started and many insults were hurled. However, even in the midst of it all, Percy remained completely silent, looking at each of the gods in a state of disbelief.
"Is this some kind of joke?" Percy finally shouted. "I have gone on quests, risked my life, and journeyed through Tartarus. Not to mention, I saved your godly as- butts not once, but twice. Yet, you still don't trust my word?"
Annabeth placed a hand on Percy's shoulder, calming him down. Unknowingly, Percy created the start of an earthquake. After Tartarus, his powers were starting to become stronger. The seven learned quickly that Annabeth could act as a counter to stop them.
"Exactly my point," Zeus stated, referring to the shake. "This unchecked power of a monster shall no longer go unnoticed. Perseus Jackson, for your crimes, I hereby banish you from Olympus and the camps. In two hours, there will be orders to you kill you on sight."
The demigods erupted. Shouting at every god that spoke. The gods responded by shouting back, which did not help the noise level at all. Percy stayed silent once again, this time shocked with the news of a kill order.
Hestia spoke in Percy's mind. "Go Perseus. The gods won't give you much time. The gods have a hard enough time accepting what happened during the Titan War. They've been looking for excuses to get rid of you since. Now, they finally have it. Run!"
Percy slowly backed away as the gods and demigods fought, subtly pulling Annabeth along with him until they reached the hall.
Annabeth's gray eyes clouded as they welled with tears she refused to let fall. "This isn't fair."
"Hey, hey, hey." Percy held her shoulders and offered a small smile. "It's okay. I'll hide from the gods for a little while. When they realize they made a mistake, I'll come back and we can move to Rome. Just like we planned. Okay?"
"Yeah," Annabeth smiled softly, but then went serious. "But where will I find you?"
Percy pulled something out of his pocket and put in Annabeth's palm. He closed her fingers around the small object and smiled. "I have a feeling you will. I love you and I promise you, we'll get our happy ending."
He squeezed Annabeth's hand and headed towards the elevator. When Percy was out of sight, Annabeth opened her hand and gasped.
Lying in the palm of her hand, Percy left a simple promise ring. On the inside of it was an inscription: Seaweed Brain and Wise Girl.
Two Weeks LaterPercy's POV
I hid in a tree as the Hunters passed. Zeus still believed that I helped Gaea during the Giant War. You would have thought that the gods would have come to their senses by that point.
Letting out a sigh of relief, I jumped out of the tree and ran. Not two seconds later I heard someone running behind me. I assumed my follower was one of the Hunters that had been on my trail for days.
Even after running for half - or what felt like - an hour, the person was still running behind me. I liked to think that training at camp prepared me for running for a long time, but I wasn't ready for sprinting this long.
I cut a corner and hid behind a large tree. Quickly, I uncapped Riptide, listening to the familiar sound of the metal transforming, and waited at silently as possible.
"Damn it!" I heard a Hunter yell. Obviously a newbie. Most Hunters were bright enough to check behind the tree for potential dangers. "This would've been so much easier if I had reinforcements!"
The Hunter yelled the last part. More footsteps came into play. "Oh, I'm sorry! It's not like I haven't slept in two days!"
"Cut it out! Both of you!" Thalia shouted followed by a 'thank you' from Artemis.
"Tell me why Poseidon can't just teleport to him?" a Hunter asked. I tried to steady my breathing at the mention of the sea god.
I heard the noise of someone facepalming. Artemis happened to be the source of it. "Gods can only teleport to their children. If you remember, Poseidon disowned him."
My breath caught in my throat. My father disowned me? Just for a simple misunderstanding?
"Let's move," Thalia said quickly to the Hunters and Artemis. "Knowing Percy, he probably ran further out."
The sound of crunching leaves told me they had left. I thought I was safe.
"Come out, Percy," Thalia demanded. Confusion hit me like a brick to Jason's face. "I know you're hiding behind that tree."
I sighed and came out with a weak smile. "Hey, Thals. Beautiful day for playing 'Let Percy Run Away and Live'. Am I right?"
"Relax," Thalia smiled and hugged me. I reluctantly returned it. Worried Artemis might have a sixth sense for males coming near her Hunters. "I'm not going to kill you. Unlike the gods, I'm not foolish enough to forget your fatal flaw."
I sighed in relief as I melted into her hug.
"Don't let down your guard just yet," Thalia warned. "Artemis is still on the fence about how to go about this. She doesn't want to get in trouble with Zeus, but you're one of the only males that respected the Hunters. She's fighting Zeus, but she won't go against him, not even for you. This bounty is going to last a while. Zeus is being stubborn as always. He's just not listening to anyone. Not the demigods. Not the other gods. Nobody."
I ran a hand through my unruly hair. "What should I do? If he's not even listening to other people's opinions, how am I going to last? I've barely survived two weeks!"
As if on cue, a portal of darkness appeared and out came a man in a black cloak. At first, I assumed Hades had just appeared, but I've been in Hades' presence before. The cloaked man felt far more powerful and ancient.
My face contorted in confusion. "Who the hell are you?"
Thalia smacked me upside the head. Scolding me for being so disrespectful towards someone who could possibly overpower us. I honestly didn't care. Majority of the gods wanted me dead. My friends were being forced to kill me on sight.
Yeah. Not exactly what mortals - or anyone for that matter (besides maybe Ares or people that enjoy torture) - like to call fun.
Instead of blasting me out of the sky as Zeus would, the cloaked man started laughing and pulled his hood down. The man before me had the same black, messy hair I did. Whenever he smiled, his galaxy styled eyes twinkled in delight. No kidding, they actually twinkled like stars in the night sky.
"I am Chaos, the Creator of the Universe," the man said. My eyes widened. Thalia backed up a few steps and knelt, hesitating in her actions. Chaos sighed and signaled for her to stand.
I couldn't be bothered to kneel. With a bunch of angry gods who wanted you dead, you had to constantly remain on your toes. Ready to run at any given moment.
"Umm..." I said awkwardly. "Not to be rude, but why are you here?"
Thalia delivered another smack to my head.
"Ouch, Thalia! Would you stop that?" I rubbed the spot she hit with my hand. For future reference: don't mess with Thalia. She hits harder than Annabeth.
Annabeth
The thought of her instantly made me feel even more upset with the gods. We were separated for months, only to have to do it again.
"I'm here to offer you a position in my army." Chaos chuckling a little, probably at Thalia's harshness. "Commander to be more specific."
"Why me?" I asked trying my best not to sound rude, so I didn't have to face Thalia's wrath again.
"We've been watching for years, Perseus." Chaos started. I resisted the urge to correct him. "Everything you have done has been nothing but honorable. Even my most powerful soldiers find themselves trying to model themselves after you. People from other universes precieve you as an excellent role model."
I thought about everything that has happened over the past couple of years. "Why should I join? I mean, not to be rude or anything, but what do I get out of this?"
"Percy," Thalia stepped forward and put a hand on my shoulder. "is how you'll survive."
I shook my head. "What about everyone else? What about Annabeth? I can't just leave with them just thinking I forgot them and abandoned ship."
"The gods are stubborn, Perseus." Chaos said with power radiating in his voice. "Chances are you'll die before you even have a chance to see them again. You're powerful, yes, but even you won't be able to survive long with everyone on Earth trying to kill you."
I pondered for a while, trying to decide.
"Percy?" Thalia asked. "I don't know if you have decided yet, but you should go back to camp before making your final decision. It's risky, but you practically grew up there. It's your home."
Inhaling deeply and letting it out, I turned to Chaos. "May I, my lord?"
Chaos waved me off and rolled his eyes. "Yes, but don't call me 'Lord'. I hate formalities."
"Thank you, Lord Chaos." I smiled emphasizing the word lord. Chaos groaned in annoyance.
I said my farewells to Thalia and made my way to Camp Half-Blood.
(Timeskip)
I stood by Thalia's tree, almost laughing at the fact that my cousin was once in the tree. Sure, it wasn't funny while she was in tree form, but looking back on it... anyways, you get the point.
Somehow, I managed to get across the boundary line without being attacked by monsters or a group of demigods. My sweatshirt hood had been up the entire way. The camp had been miles away from my original starting point with Thalia and Chaos, so it was well past dark by the time I finally reached camp.
Knowing Chiron, there was going to be a campfire tonight. I followed the sounds of the campers singing through the forest. I avoided being seen completely as Zeus's bounty still loomed over my head.
When I was within half a football field of the campfire, the campers began to cheer. I found it odd as none of them had seen me yet.
I stepped behind a tree to see what was going on without being noticed.
I instantly regretted giving into my curiosity. Wishing I had gone with Chaos without a second thought.
The campers were hooting and hollering for a girl with honey blonde, curly hair and a guy with raven black hair kissing in the center.
I knew exactly who the girl was. It was none other than Annabeth Chase. As for the guy, zero clues.
But I didn't care.
I felt myself go emotionless as I turned around to leave. Tears threatened to fall, but I forced them to not to.
Maybe if I had stayed a bit longer, I would have heard the shouts of anger coming from the campers.
I walked for what felt like a long time. Wandering into the clearing I had met Chaos in. Surprisingly, Thalia was still there, keeping him company.
"Have you made your decision?" Chaos asked.
I exhaled deeply. "I will join, but on one condition." Chaos raised his eyebrows, signaling me to tell him. "Fake my death. I'm never returning here ever again if I have the choice."
Thalia flashed me an odd look.
"Very well, Perseus." He made a motion with his hand that looked like an ancient spell. "Say goodbye to your cousin."
I turned around to find Thalia's eyes watering a little. I opened my arms and motioned for her to give me a hug. She didn't hesitate.
"Say hello to Tyson for me," I told Thalia. She nodded and sprinted back to the other Hunters. I stared at the place she last stood.
"Are you ready, Perseus?" Chaos asked me.
I turned to him and gave him my signature lopsided grin. "I would correct you and say that it's Percy, but that's my old life now." I paused for dramatic effect. "Call me Omega from now on."
With that, we walked together through the portal. Disappearing from the face of the planet.
But wait... that's not the end of this beginning.
No
The end of the beginning was me, briefly turning around from the portal, uncapping Riptide and stabbing it into the ground. Marking the end of Percy Jackson and the beginning of Commander Omega.
The Betrayed Hero of Olympus.
