Part 1

Natasha's POV

The tower is quiet. Everyone is asleep. I realized I was staring out the window about an hour ago, not caring that the movie was long over and everyone else had packed up and gone to bed. I don't care that it's the worst snow storm in 20 years, I'm going for a run. I can't just sit still thinking about Bruce. It's been 6 months, he's long gone, there is nothing I can do about that, I can however move on with my life. When I stand up to put my mug in the dishwasher I see a tall figure standing in the doorway with their arms crossed, watching.

"Rogers" I say, heading to the kitchen not needing to take another look to see who it is.

"Romanoff" he says watching me.

I put down my mug and look back at him, "What can I do for you at," I look at my watch and realize the time, "2:26 in the morning?"

"I could ask you the same thing," he says as he moves away from the doorway to sit on a stool at island. "I couldn't sleep, decided I needed a snack."

"Fair enough," I say tossing him an apple, grabbing one for myself, "I was gonna head out on a run if you wanted to join me"

"At 2:26 in the morning? In a snow storm?" He asks me between bites.

"2:29 actually," I say as I look up at his deep blue eyes.

He rolls his eyes when he says "No, Nat. No I don't not want to go for a run around New York at 2:30am during a blizzard." I smirk at his remark, reminding myself of the good things .

"I'm gonna head off to bed." I say leaving the kitchen with a glance back I say "Night, Steve"

"Night, Nat" He said with a mouth full of apple, I smile and shake my head, heading to my room, knowing I'm not going to be able to sleep.

                                                              ***********

I wake up to my phone ringing, without checking to see who it is or even what time it is, I answer, "Hello?" I say groggily.

"Romanoff" Fury's low voice cuts through my phone, instantly making me wake up. "I need you to come in."

"I'll be there in 20" I say jumping out of bed and getting ready.

"Make it 10" He says and hangs up leaving me to put on my Black Widow suit and run out the door.

"Morning Nat," Clint says as I run past the kitchen "where you off too?"

"Work." I say leaving before he asks me to elaborate. I run to the elevator heading for the garage, I jump in my sleek black sports car and exit the parking lot. I don't even make it 2 minutes in before I realize it's snowing way too hard to see "Shit." I mutter under my breath before taking my phone and and start dialling.

"What do you want Romanoff?" Tony says slightly annoyed.

"I need a ride, too much snow too drive" I say as I pull over, making sure theres no one around "I'm at the corner of 35th and Madison." I hang up the phone and throw on my jacket, knowing I'd freeze without it. I stand in the cold for a couple minutes before I hear the familiar sound of the Iron Man repulsers coming my way.

"Took you long enough" I say annoyed that he took so long.

"Well, I was sleeping," He said landing and taking a couple steps towards me, "and you could've waited in the car" He says as I roll my eyes and he grabs my arm, shooting off the ground and landing a minute later at SHEILD headquarters.

Walking into the building I see a familiar face coming my way

"Hey Cap" I say as I keep walking ahead.

"Nat," He says as he walks with me to the elevators, "Any idea what Fury wants?" He asks me genuinely curious.

'Wow he can be an idiot' I think before saying, "Mission probably." My voice slightly off its usual beat, which Steve seemed to notice.

"You alright Natasha?" He asks looking down at me with those blue eyes and messy hair.

"I'm great" I say not wanting the conversation to go any farther. Steve opens his mouth as if to protest but before he can say anything the doors open and I walk towards Fury's office, Steve right behind me.

Steve's POV

As Natasha and I walk back to the elevator I can't help but notice somethings up with Natasha, more so than before. 'She's a private person, if she wanted me to know what up, she would tell me' I convince myself looking down at her red hair all I can focus on is her, how incredible she is, how gorgeous and strong she is. I can't get her out of my mind. I can't take it anymore, the awkward silence as the elevator descends, so I say:

"Nat-" she cuts me off before I can say anything else.

"I'm fine Steve," She looks up at me with those big green eyes, urging me to believe her, but for some reason I just can't. "Really." she finishes looking back at the elevator doors. The familiar ding of the doors opening brings me out of my trace and I step out with Natasha on my left.

Natasha follows me to my motorcycle, as her can was snowed in and gets on the back, wrapping her arms around my waist so she doesn't fall off. The snow has died down so we head back to the tower in silence as the snow falls around us.

As I pull into the parking garage and get off my motorcycle, I see Natasha shivering beside me. I wrap my arm around her waist and pull her tight, hoping I can warm her up just a little bit, she returns the gesture and I smile as we walk into the tower.

"How about we get some hot chocolate?" She says in a way that means I don't have a choice.

"Sounds great," I agree as we step into the elevator, "Are you sure you're alright Natasha? You were acting weird before we even got to Fury's office and you have been acting even stranger since."

She turns too face me as she says "I am-" she trails off not finishing her sentence.

"Nat?" I ask after a minute, she falls forwards and I catch her not really sure what to do I call out "FRIDAY!"

The elevator doors open and I pick Natasha up, carrying her into the living room where most of the Avengers are.

"Oh my gosh Natasha!' Pepper says rushing over. when she hears me coming in.

"Steve what happened?" Maria asks me walking over.

"Cap, what happened to Natasha?" Wanda asks from the couch

"I don't know, she was talking one minute and then the next she passed out," I say slightly panicked, "Peter can you take Morgan somewhere?" he nods and leaves the room with little Morgan Stark clinging onto his hand.

I lay Natasha down on the couch as FRIDAY gives her a once over, we take her into Tony's lab and he starts to work, trying to figure out what happened. Everyone else has left the room except for me, I'm holding Nat's hand and stroking it lightly incase she wakes up, I want her to know that I'm there with her.

Wanda's POV:

I walk back into the living room with most of the group and sit down on the couch, not really knowing what else to do.

"What do you think is wrong with Natasha?" I say, my accent still thick even after all that the Black Widow had done to help me conceal it.

"She could've just been cold," Clint says taking a sip of his coffee, "I mean, it's what, 12 degrees And they took motorcycle, during a snow storm, wasn't exactly the smartest of plans was it?" theres a few nods around the room before Peter comes in, walking to the kitchen.

"How's Nat?" He asks as he grabs a couple poptarts from the box tossing one to Thor.

"She's," Pepper starts looking around at the room, "She's doing alright, oh and Morgan can just have one. Thanks Pete." She says and he walks out of the room. I look back to Pepper with a slight confused face.

"Why did you lie to Peter?" I ask her, studying her moves.

"I-" She says looking at the ground for a second before she knows what to say "I didn't want him to tell Morgan bad news" I nodded and walked into the kitchen myself and gab a poptart opening the wrapper and sitting down at the counter next to Maria. 'She is going to be fine, she is the Black Widow, nothing can stop her' I try to convince myself, with little luck.
