Explanation & Easter Eggs
09:13, 2 June 2024So you've finished the book, huh? Thank you so much! This book was a blast to make, but at the same time it was really hard. While yes, my main motivation was purely because I enjoy writing and making creative plots, you guys commenting and voting for chapters helped me pick the book back up whenever I set it down!
Thank you so much to those of you who've stuck around for THREE YEARS (Holy meatballs das a long time). Anywho, this last chapter gets into the little details of the book, or, if you still don't get what happened, the general idea of the book. If you are anything like me, this is basically the key to the book, telling you all the secrets etc etc. Let's start!
First things first, what were those endings?! I mean, both were horrible, so how could THAT be the good ending??? Well, let me walk you through the original story line, aka solo route.
XD's first creation was two twins, Night and Dream. Through out their lives, Dream was always smart and Night was always strong. Depending on what life they lived (as XD would reincarnate them many times) they could be best friends, enemies, or anywhere in between. Unfortunately, no matter how many times they live, they would always meet horrific ends or live unhappy lives. XD hated this, but he couldn't let them go. Finally, once Night dies again, this time at the age of 8 (which was much younger than any time before) XD debates finally giving up when an idea strikes him. He summons Night to where he is, basically think of a big room with controls and stuff, and tells Night that he wants him to stay up there with him for the rest of time. Night wanted to go back to his brother though, so thinking he could cheat death, clicks a button before XD can catch him and in reincarnated as a Dreamon as punishment for messing with things he shouldn't have messed with.
In the end, there's little hints on the time loop thing, like the pillow or the "gift from the gods" comment. You could probably find more in the rereads of this tbh, I can't remember them all. What happens though, for the confused of you, is that Dream doesn't "save" Tommy, but actually ends up taking him to Philza's doorstep. Dream is the reason Tommy ended up there in the first place. In the good ending, where Dream never rewinded time, the world began to break as Tommy was never meant to be with Philza and the others. At the end of good ending, he shows up only knowing Tubbo as they met at the school in the village, and his last name is Innit instead of Minecraft.
Basically, Dream doomed him from the start and only made it worse later on.
Now onto tiny Easter eggs, er, well, the two big ones you might've not noticed and one I mentioned above.
1. In the gif I made for changing time, did you notice the hands move in different directions sometimes? That's to indicate whether you are going back in time or forwards in time! You can check them out on different chapter if you want, or just look at them here:
2. So, one of you guys in the comments knows about this already, but there's a code to solve in the moments Dream's thought gets fuzzy. If you want to decode it yourself. Move on to the next one, but for those of you wanting answers now, the code is in Base 64 (get it, bc Minecraft?). Anywho, yeah, I just looked up Base 64 decoder/ encoder and used that to decode. If you want, feel free to go back and decode the text and put it in the comments for others. If it's wrong, it correct you so everyone's on the same page :)
3. Did you notice how oddly descriptive the pillow was with the restitching and stuff? I think it's such a cool little detail >:) I'm pretty proud of it idk.
4. There was actually going to be another decision in the last chapter as I realized none of the endings involved XD. If enough people want it, I may make a secret ending chapter with him just bc I set it up, but I'm not sure if it'll happen otherwise since the whole drama stuff going on really put me off the SMP (I'm low let so glad I killed Ghostbur off even though his character and him are not the same).
5. Not an Easter egg, but I wanted to leave the option here for you guys. If you'd like an epilogue for the last chapter, just to see what happened after Dream rewinded time, tell me here! I actually have a few ideas so I think it's be fun to write a small blurb on it. Nothing full chapter probably, but it'd be enough to tell y'all what happened.
Once again, I want to thank you. If you've commented, starred the chapters (which btw, I don't really ask on chapters bc I don't wanna seem rude but I'd appreciate if you did), or even just read to the end and put it in a reading list, I see you. I appreciate you. Writing this gave me the push I needed to feel confident that I could write something good, and now I'm a year and a half into writing my first novel. In fact, I'm a couple weeks from publishing it! If you're still here, and you want to read more of my work, consider checking out my profile. I'm sure once I upload the book on Amazon, I'll be freaking out in the posts over there.
Have a lovely life, reader. It's been a pleasure getting to write to you :3
