I Like You - HeYa FanFic - Chapter 7
05:44, 26 November 2012Heather Morris’ POV
I dropped to my knees, crying. I buried my tear stained face in my hands. The love of my life had just left me. Stupid Taylor. I sobbed uncontrollably into my hands, dampening my clothes and the pavement. I heard the sound of a car approaching me and when I looked up, I saw Naya in the driver seat. She pulled up in front of me and I could see that her eyes were red with tears. I stood up and walked over to the car. She rolled down the window.
‘Your mum called just now and said she’ll be at the airport by 4. When Taylor called, he asked if you wanted to go for lunch. Have fun having lunch with your douche bag of a boyfriend.’ Naya muttered. I nodded and looked away. She started rolling up the window.
‘Wait, Naya.’ I slipped my hand in between the window, making Naya lift her finger off the window button. She rolled the window down again. ‘When you drive away, know that I will always love you, under any circumstances. I will never let anyone change that and you know you shouldn’t either.’
‘Have fun having lunch with your douche bag of a boyfriend.’ Naya repeated before rolling the window up and driving away.

‘So, this is your house?’ My mum strolled around, inspecting the walls and pictures. ‘Who’s this?’
‘Who’s who?’ I walked over to my mum after closing the door. She was pointing to a picture of Naya and me in our Cheerios uniform. ‘That’s Naya.’
‘Oh, the girl that answered your phone this morning.’ Mum smiled at me. ‘She seems nice.’
‘She is.’ I fought back the tears. ‘She’s really, really nice.’
‘How are things going on between you and Taylor?’ Mum wandered into the kitchen.
‘I wanted to talk to you about that.’ I sat down. ‘Sit down, mum.’
‘You’re not pregnant, are you?’ Mum sat down opposite me cautiously.
‘No, I’m not.’ I laughed softly. I reached over the table and took my mum’s hands in mine. ‘Mum, I’m gay.’ I whispered, staring at Mum’s eyes.
‘Heather Elizabeth Morris.’ Mum whispered making me cringe. She had never said my full name before. ‘If this is a joke, I will never cook for you again.’
‘I’m not joking, Mum.’ I said slowly. ‘I’m in love with someone of the same gender and we have been intimate.’
‘Is it that Naya girl?’ Tears welled up in her eyes. I nodded slowly and cupped her face in my hands.
‘I know I should have told you earlier, mum but honestly, I just found this out about myself about an hour ago.’ I took a breath before pouring out the whole story of Naya and me to my mum. I told her about the day we met, the way Naya’s touches sent sparks up in my stomach and the way I broke her heart by lying to her. ‘I love Naya, mum. More than I’ve ever loved anyone in this world.’ I said as the tears fell. ‘Except for you, of course.’ I added making Mum smile. ‘Mum, I understand if you hate me now, just kn...’
‘You are the same person you were 5 minutes ago.’ Mum interrupted. ‘I love you the same as I did before and even though I don’t encourage this, you are who you are and I can’t changed that. I won’t change that.’
‘I love you, mum. So, so much.’ I smiled gratefully at my mum.
‘What about Taylor, have you told him?’
‘No. I’ll tell him right now.’ I pulled my phone out and dialled Taylor’s number. ‘Hello?’
‘Hey, babe!’ Taylor’s voice sounded through the phone.
‘Listen, things can’t work out between us.’
‘What?’
‘We both know long distance relationships don’t work. Besides, I have someone else in my life.’
‘You’re breaking up with me?’
‘Yes. I’m sorry, Taylor.’
‘I understand.’
‘You do?’
‘Yeah.’ I could hear Taylor’s voice breaking. ‘You need someone new in your life. I respect that. I respect you.’
‘Thank you so much, Taylor.’ I said, surprised.
‘See you, Heather.’ Taylor hung up and I looked at Mum.
‘What happened?’ Mum looked back at me.
‘I’m not sure.’ I stammered. I put my phone back in my pocket.

I hugged Mum tightly. ‘Remember to buy groceries, okay?’
‘Yes, Mum.’ I rolled my eyes. ‘You told me five times and wrote it down along with doing dishes, washing clothes and mopping the floor.’
‘Remember to wait for the floor to dry before walking on it, okay?’ Mum gathered her luggage and kissed me on the cheek. ‘See you in two weeks, honey.’
‘See you, Mum.’ I waved goodbye at her as she moved into the crowd and past immigration. She blew a kiss at me and I returned it. I walked away, backwards still waving at Mum. I bumped into someone behind me. I turned around. ‘I’m so sorry.’
‘Watch where you’re going!’ I looked at them and the brown eyes that stared back into mine seemed too familiar. ‘Heather?’
‘Naya?’

‘So you came out to your mother and broke up with your boyfriend for 2 years, thinking you would be able to get back together with me?’ Naya sipped her coffee. She licked her lips and I stared before looking away. I nodded slowly and played with a napkin on the table. ‘Well, that’s not going to happen.’
‘And why not?’ I looked up at Naya.
‘Why not?’ Naya scoffed. ‘You lied to me, Heather. And you think coming out to your mum’s gonna change that?’
‘You think I’m not sorry?’ I hissed. ‘You think I didn’t torment myself over the past two nights? You think I didn’t ache for your touch? You think I embraced the idea of living without you?’
‘You li-‘
‘I love you, Naya. More than I’ve ever loved anyone in this world. More than I loved my dad.’ I stood up and picked up my coffee. ‘But I guess you’re just too blind and selfish to see that. You’re too blind and selfish to see that I’m truly sorry for what I did to you. For lying to you.’ I left before Naya could see the tears streaming down my face.

Lea Michele’s POV
‘Sex is not dating!’ Naya recited.
‘If it were, Santana and I would be dating.’ Heather muttered. I looked up. Heather didn’t have the magic in her voice. Whenever she said Santana or Naya, she had this difference in her tone of voice. The cast called it Heather’s Magic. I looked over at Dianna who had realised it too. I cocked my eyebrow at her and she replied with a gesture of her head. I nodded slightly and stood up. I made my way to her trailer and I could hear her footsteps behind me. This was our secret language. Whenever one of us was unsure about something, we would cock our eyebrow at the other and if the other knew what was going on she would reply with a slight gesture. If she didn’t, she would lick her lips twice.
‘Do you know what’s going on?’ I asked as I sat down on Dianna’s couch. I looked up at her and she nodded slowly. ‘Well, tell me.’
‘I don’t think I should.’ She sat down next to me and I took her hands in mine.
‘Please, Di?’ I pouted making her smile softly.
‘I think Naya and Heather have some issues.’ Dianna breathed in. ‘With their relationship.’
‘Did they break up?’
‘I’m not sure but a few days ago...’ Dianna looked around as if to make sure no one was listening in. ‘A few days ago, Naya called me to her apartment and told me that she wasn’t ready for a serious relationship with Heather.’
‘You went to Naya’s?’
‘Only for a couple of hours. I cooked her lunch.’
‘Lunch?’
‘She was hung over, Lee.’ Dianna furrowed her eyebrows. ‘You’re not jealous, are you?’
‘I’m not.’ I looked away. ‘It’s just that, you’ve never cooked me lunch. In fact, you’ve never cooked me a meal.’
‘It was only one meal, Lea.’
‘Whatever.’ I looked back at Dianna. ‘So, do you think Naya and Heather broke up?’
‘I think. Heather didn’t have the magic in her voice.’ Dianna looked up. ‘Should I talk to Naya?’
‘No, let me.’ I stood up. ‘She’ll be pissed with you because you didn’t lay off her when she was with Heather.’
‘You’re right.’ I started to leave but Dianna grabbed my arm. She stood up and kissed me softly. ‘See you later, Lee.’

‘Let me guess, Dianna told you to talk to me.’ Naya sounded pissed as she sat down on her couch.
‘It was actually my idea to talk to you.’ I sat next to her. ‘Just hear me out.’
‘I don’t have time for this.’ Naya stood up. ‘Why can’t you two stop being annoying little bitches and leave me alone to deal with my own shit?’
‘Naya, does it not make you happy to know that in this cruel, cold world you have a group of people that have got your back?’ I retorted. ‘We care about you, Naya.’
‘Fine!’ Naya yelled. ‘Me and Heather broke up. Are you fucking happy now?’
‘I-‘ I started. I was interrupted by Naya’s sobs. I rushed to her side and rubbed her back reassuringly. ‘Don’t cry.’ Naya shoved me away.
‘Get out.’ Naya growled. ‘Now.’ She pointed to the door.
‘Naya, I-‘
‘Get out! Leave!’ Naya yelled. I nodded and left the trailer. I closed the trailer door behind me and imitated footsteps. After a few seconds, I pressed my ear against the door. I could hear Naya sobbing inside.
‘Lea?’ I spun around. Heather stood there with her arms folded across her chest. ‘What are you doing?’
‘What are you doing?’ I retaliated. Heather looked confused.
‘I was going to talk to Na-you.’ Heather stammered. ‘You. I was going to talk to you.’
‘Me?’ I put my hands on my hips. ‘About what?’
‘About the lines.’
‘The lines?’ Heather approached me and linked our arms. She started walking making me follow her. ‘Where are you taking me?’
‘Is it true that you and Di are dating?’ Heather quickly changed the subject.
‘Who told you that?’
‘Naya.’ Heather said quietly. She didn’t have the magic in her voice this time either.
‘Who told Naya?’ I asked curiously as we walked in together in the food room.
‘No one had to tell her. You guys were making out when we got drunk.’ Heather pulled me towards the snack table. ‘But it was Dianna who told her.’
‘Dianna told Naya who told you about Di and me?’ I said aloud.
‘Uh, yeah.’ Heather spoke, spitting out crumbs of a biscuit. I cringed as the crumbs landed on my jacket. ‘Sorry.’
‘Just stop talking.’ I held my finger up. ‘I’m gonna ask you some yes or no questions. Nod if yes and shake your head if no. Got it?’ Heather nodded. ‘You and Naya are lesbians, right?’ Heather nodded. ‘And you guys had a relationship?’ Heather nodded again, slower this time. ‘Were you guys ever intimate?’ Heather nodded before smiling softly. ‘Did you guys break up?’ Heather’s face changed immediately. She looked at me and I could see the tears appearing. ‘I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have asked.’
‘No, it’s fine.’
‘Both of you are taking this really hard.’ Heather nodded before looking at me.
‘Both of us?’
‘Yeah, I went to talk to Naya and she burst into tears when I asked her about you guys.’ I remarked. The door opened and Naya and Dianna walked in. Naya took one look at Heather and turned around Dianna grabbed her arm and pulled her away. I pulled Heather towards the couch and told her to sit down while Dianna did the same with Naya. Heather shifted uncomfortably away from Naya. ‘You guys need to talk about this.’
‘No, we don’t.’ Naya retorted.
‘Naya’s right.’ Heather didn’t have the magic this time either. ‘There’s nothing to talk about. Naya doesn’t appreciate my love for her and now, neither do I.’ Naya looked at Heather.
‘Wait, just because I didn’t forgive you doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate your love.’
‘No, you were right, Naya.’ Heather stood up and headed to the door. She opened it. ‘I lied to you. I see that now. Now, if you will excuse me, I’ll go silently kill myself in my trailer.’ Heather left before we could say a word.
‘She’s joking, right?’ I asked Naya.

Naya Rivera’s POV
‘Heather?’ I knocked gently on Heather’s trailer door. I could hear her sobbing. ‘I know you’re not dead. I can hear you sobbing.’ I pressed my face against the door. ‘Let me in, Heather. You know I can’t stand it when you cry.’ The door opened and Heather stood red eyed. I hugged Heather tightly before she pushed me away. I stepped into the trailer and closed the door behind me. ‘I realise my mistake now.’ I sat on the couch as Heather leaned against the table.
‘Yeah, right.’ Heather scoffed. ‘Why don’t you just yell at me for lying to you again? I think I need another reminder.’ Her sarcasm hurt me. ‘Why are you here?’
‘I need to apologise to you.’
‘Are we living in parallel universes now?’ Heather crossed her arms over her chest. ‘Cause last time I checked, according to you, I had to apologise to you.’
‘Just hear me out.’
‘No, I won’t!’ Heather yelled. I was shocked. ‘You didn’t hear me out so why should I hear you out?’
‘Because I love you, Heather!’ I yelled back. ‘I love you!’
‘No. I’m not falling for your tricks.’ I approached Heather. ‘Get away from me.’
‘I loved you, Heather. I still do.’ I whispered and placed my hands gently on Heather’s waist. ‘I love you.’ I repeated before kissing Heather gently. Heather pulled away. I cupped her face in my hands and leaned in for another kiss but Heather turned her head away. ‘Don’t resist.’
‘I love you.’ Heather whispered and turned her head back. Those three words were whispered at every touch, every removal of an item of clothing, every kiss.
