Chapter 4: Pushing Boundaries

12:50, 1 March 2025

Karina should have walked away. She should have ignored him, pretended like this conversation never happened, and gone back to her practice.

But something about Heeseung made it impossible.

Maybe it was the way he looked at her-not just with amusement, but curiosity. Like he was trying to figure her out, piece by piece. Or maybe it was the fact that, despite their supposed rivalry, she could sense respect beneath his teasing words.

Whatever it was, it made her stay.

She grabbed her water bottle, taking a slow sip before glancing at him. "If you're just here to watch, you're wasting your time."

Heeseung raised an eyebrow. "Who said I was just watching?"

Karina narrowed her eyes. "What are you saying?"

He smirked. "Let's dance."

She blinked. What?

"You've been going over that routine over and over," Heeseung continued, stepping further into the room. "Let me see if I can keep up."

Karina let out a breathy chuckle. "You seriously think you can match my choreography?"

Heeseung shrugged, his confidence borderline infuriating. "Guess there's only one way to find out."

Something inside he itched at the challenge. Fine.

She walked over to the speaker, scrolling through her playlist before selecting a song. As the opening beats hit, she turned back to face him. "Try to keep up."

Heeseung grinned. "Don't hold back."

The Dance Begins

The music filled the room, and Karina let instinct take over. She moved effortlessly, her body in sync with every beat, every sharp motion. But what surprised her most?

Heeseung didn't fall behind.

He matched her energy, his movements fluid yet precise. The way he danced was different- less polished, more natural- but it worked. Their bodies moved in tandem, stepping forward, retreating, mirroring each other.

The tension between them shifted, no longer just competitive but something else entirely.

At one point, Heeseung's hand brushed against her wrist in a fleeting touch, and for a split second, Karina almost lost her rhythm. But she recovered just as quickly, her eyes meeting his with something undeniable.

When the song ended, they both stood there-breathless, charged, waiting.

Silence stretched between them before Heeseung finally spoke, his voice lower than before.

"You're good."

Karina exhaled, a small smirk playing at her lips. "I know."

A beat of silence.

Then, Heeseung chuckled, shaking his head. "I don't know if I hate you or if I-"

He stopped himself, his words dangerously close to crossing a line.

Karina tilted her head. "Or what?"

Heeseung didn't answer right away. Instead, he stepped back, grabbing his hoodie from the floor.

"We'll see," he said simply, heading toward the door.

Karina watched him go, her heartbeat still unsteady from the dance-or maybe something else?

One thing was clear:

Whatever this was, it wasn't over.
