"POW"
His body thumped to the ground in front of her making her let out a blood curdling scream.
"No baby, why did you do that?" Naala screamed dropping to her knees in front of him.
"My babies -" Dave spoke in shock,
"Stop, stop speaking," Naala cried holding the wound down with her hand. "I'm gonna get you some help, okay?"
"Somebody help me!" Naala screamed loudly looking around where they were.
Many people looked but didn't know what to do, a man was dying in front of them and they carried on their usual business.
"It wasn't me," Dave held her hand and stared into her eyes.
"I know that now Amir, just hang on," Naala spoke through her tears with her hand still firmly on the wound.
No one was helping her so she had to do this on her own.
"Baby do you think you can help me?" Naala sniffed looking down at him.
"I d-don't know, it's burning," Dave hissed, his eyes filling with tears.
"You have to get up because I can't carry you," Naala said lifting him up slightly. "We have to go to the hospital but I need you to help me,"
"Leave me La, you bleeding too," Dave mumbled his eyes going in and out.
"No no Amir, stay awake," Naala cried dragging his body up as much as she could. "Use all your strength and get up, please?" She begged.
"Think about the girls and the twins, come on," Naala slapped his face lightly.
"The girls," Dave nodded, opening his eyes.
"The girls, that's right, they need you," Naala said quickly holding him up.
With every piece of strength in him, Dave drug himself up from the ground and staggered to his feet. The majority of his weight was on Naala who was struggling to keep him up.
"The car," Naala thought out loud, "Let's get to the car," She said walking with him.
"I can't do it," Dave said stopping her from dragging him along.
"Baby please," Naala said as he dropped to the floor again. "You want our children to grow up without you?"
Dave didn't respond because he was going in and out of consciousness.
"Amir you can't die on me," Naala sobbed holding him in her lap.
18 hours before the shooting...
"And you've been eating enough?" Miani asked over the phone.
"Yes ma, Miss Ruby makes sure," Naala sniffed, she was feeling unwell and had a runny nose.
"I should be there," Miani mumbled feeling bad. "I can get a flight home?"
"Ma I'm a big girl I can handle it. Stay in London and bring me back something nice," Naala ordered, a small cough at the end.
"You don't sound good at all my angel. It's all this campaigning, can't you pause till you have the babies?" Miani asked making Naala roll her eyes.
"I can't, the election is in 4 weeks," Naala said before clearing her throat.
"Oh I'm straining your voice aren't I?" Miani gasped. "Give your husband the phone," She demanded.
"Oh my God," Naala muttered softly handing Dave the phone and walking into the bathroom.
"Y'all need to come up out of here," Naala said to her bump. "You are too big and I am too damn small for this," She said rubbing her skin.
A flurry of kicks went through her stomach like they were responding.
"Yeah fuck you too," Naala chuckled before coughing up a storm.
"You straight?" Dave called out. "Mama I gotta go," He said rushing off the phone.
"You straight?" He repeated coming into the bathroom. Naala nodded and sat on the toilet seat.
"I feel and look like shit," Naala exclaimed closing her eyes.
"You don't look bad," Dave laughed walking closer to her.
"You hungry? You want me to get something?" Dave asked rubbing her back.
"I want chicken tenders," Naala pondered looking up at him. "Dipped in hot sauce," She almost drooled.
"Where you want me to get that at this time?" Dave replied playing in her hair.
"So why did you ask?" Naala muttered standing up. "Getting my hopes up and shit," She pouted.
"Well I can - why you crying?" Dave sighed leaning against the counter.
"All I ask for is chicken tenders and you won't even do that," Naala cried hard.
"It's 2am baby, where am I gonna find that?" Dave spoke watching her blubber and cry.
"So then next time don't ask me!" Naala snapped at him.
"I know what this is," Dave chuckled following our behind her. "You mad I've not been all up in there?" Dave asked humping her from behind.
"You said you could live without it so you're living without it," Naala replied moving his hands from around her waist.
"I didn't mean it baby," Dave dragged out holding her. "I was playing, I can't live without it," He muttered kissing her neck.
"Nope," Naala moved her head. "How many years did you say? 10?" Naala asked turning her head to the side to look at him.
"15," Dave mumbled with a frown. "But it was joke, I can't play with you?"
"Fifteen years without pussy," Naala laughed getting into the bed.
"Seriously Naala?" Dave groaned standing at the end of the bed. Naala ignored him and got on her phone, scrolling through Instagram.
"I haven't been on this in so long," Naala pondered fixing her hair.
"Don't be getting on there arguing," Dave warned making her put her middle finger up at him.
"Arguing with your bitches," Naala mumbled going through her DMs.
There was a small knock on the door and Dave immediately knew who it was.
"Phat you can't sleep?" Dave asked pulling the door open.
"Malia wants mommy," Malia said rubbing her eyes.
"What's up Phat girl?" Naala said sitting up in the bed. Malia didn't respond, she simply crawled into the bed and laid on her mom's chest.
"That's another reason why I haven't been all up in there," Dave mumbled opening his drawer.
Malia had been extremely clingy with Naala and had managed to sleep with her parents every night for about a month. That put any plans of them having sex, completely to bed.
"What do you expect me to do?" Naala whispered covering Malia's ears. "I'm not gonna kick her out of the bed so you can get some,"
"Ima just leave y'all in the bed then," Dave shrugged feeling hurt.
"Stop being a big baby and get in," Naala said opening the sheets.
"You gon let me hit from behind?" Dave mumbled getting in behind her.
"Are you high?" Naala tutted when he pushed himself closer to her.
"High as shit," Dave laughed, his eyes turning into slits.
"Lord," Naala sighed closing her eyes. "Amir leave my panties alone," She said when she felt him fiddling with her bottom half.
"Phat you sleep?" Dave whispered. "Malia. Lia. Phat Phat," He started listing off all her nicknames to probe a response.
"If you wake her up, I'm gonna get mad," Naala said pushing his head from her neck.
"Just the tip," Dave begged in her ear. "She won't even hear nothing if you quiet," He reasoned with her.
"If I say yes will you leave me alone?" Naala muttered quietly as he rubbed her down below.
"Maybe," Dave said slipping his finger into her. Naala arched her back and sucked in her breath. She let Malia go and pushed her to the side of the bed.
"Amir our baby is in the bed," Naala moaned putting her head back on his chest.
Dave tilted her head up to him and kissed her, adding a finger simultaneously. Naala moaned lowly and grabbed his hand.
"We can't," She panted taking his fingers out of her.
"Man," Dave huffed and bit her neck. "We can't do nothing, ever,"
"Bae what do you want me to do?" Naala said turning around so they were face to face.
"Tell her to go to her own bed. She gon be 8 still sleeping with us," Dave frowned. Naala cut her eyes at him.
"You really about to make me kick our baby out the bed so you can get some?" Naala questioned sitting up.
"Take her to Niya or something, what's the point of having older kids that don't do shit?" Dave complained.
"You're so annoying," Naala replied getting out of her bed.
"But I bet you about to take her to Maniya," Dave laughed putting his hands behind his head.
"Well yeah, cuz I want some too," Naala mumbled lifting Malia up and out of the bed.
"Don't hurt yourself now," Dave called out to her with his eyes closed. He was excited to go crazy on her.
"Shut up," Naala laughed holding Malia carefully. For an 8 year old, she was very light so it wasn't really much of an issue.
Naala walked down the hall to Maniya's room and knocked gently, before coughing again.
"Come in," Maniya's voice drifted out into the hallway.
Naala pushed the door open and put on the saddest face she could muster up.
"Can you do me a huge favor?" She asked her voice low.
"Sure mama, what's the matter?" Maniya said putting her hair straightener down. Naala wasn't even gonna ask why she was doing her hair that late.
"I'm on live by the way," She added when Naala entered the room.
"Can you keep your sister for the night?" Naala asked making sure she wasn't in the camera.
"You're not feeling well?" Maniya said taking Malia from Naala's hands.
"No," Naala faked a cough. "I want a night to sleep properly," She replied looking in Maniya's live.
"You and daddy just wanna be freaky," Maniya called her bullshit straight away.
"You don't know me little girl," Naala muttered checking herself out in the camera. She took the phone and started reading the comments.
"Niya what this mean?" Naala asked pointing to a comment.
"I know y'all didn't ask if my mama is good at sucking dick," Maniya gasped snatching the phone.
"Oh they could have just said that," Naala chuckled taking the phone back. "What y'all be saying? I got that gawk gawk 900?" She stuck her tongue out.
"It's 3000 and EW," Maniya shouted with a loud laugh.
"Ion care if it's 900 or 3000, I be doing it," Naala answered rolling her neck.
"Mama give me my phone and get out cuz you're nasty as hell," Maniya tutted snatching the phone.
"Now I wanna stay, this is fun," Naala said sitting beside her. "Look someone said I'm pretty," She gushed reading the comments.
"You know you're pretty," Maniya laughed at her. "They want us to do a Q&A," Maniya added looking at her phone.
"Mmm your dad can wait," Naala crossed her legs under her and moved her shirt to cover her belly.
Mel7: How many kids do you want?
"I want 2 kids, mama how many kids did you want?" Maniya answered and then directed to Naala.
"None," Naala replied with a smile, reaching over to grab the candy Maniya had on her desk.
"Mommy!" Maniya gasped holding her chest. "You didn't want me?"
"No of course I wanted you but I didn't want children when I was 15, 16," Naala explained.
"Now you got 5," Maniya shook her head.
"Don't blame me," Naala said playing with a piece of her hair. "I wanted to stop at 3 but niggas don't listen," She huffed.
"Don't let Phat hear you say that," Maniya giggled. "Okay next question, did I get whooped a lot as a child?"
"I wish I could whoop her now," Naala rolled her eyes. "Y'all friend has a very slick mouth, one that I'm always popping,"
"Anyway," Maniya dragged with a smile, "I don't think I like these questions," She commented going through the questions.
"If I could fuck anyone who would I choose?" Maniya read off the screen.
"Excuse me MsJuliepeach," Naala read out the username. "You need to wash your mouth out with soap, that was very disgusting," Naala frowned.
"Says the woman that just talked about sucking dick," Maniya mumbled lowly. Naala tutted and slapped the back of her head.
"See what I mean? She got a slick ass mouth," Naala said shaking her head.
Miawalls: I miss you niece x
Maniya read Mia's comment and her eyes widened. She hadn't spoken to Mia since her and her mom fell out about Saint.
Naala read the comment too and turned her nose up, not replying to it.
Miawalls: you too baby mama no 3
"Now why the hell?" Maniya mumbled waiting for her mom's reaction.
"I'm not even gonna say anything to you Mia. Okay I'm baby mama number 3 but you only number 2, let's not get confused," Naala said calmly.
AsiaMaz: number 3 that's so embarrassing 🥴
"Tell your little followers that I can fight," Naala pointed at Maniya. "Messed up my whole mood, come off this," She said to her.
"Asia I know you ain't talking. You are literally built like a battery," Maniya scrunched up her face. "Dion your mama has ten kids but ten different men, bitches be so crazy,"
"Stop and come off this," Naala said getting up. "I don't need you fighting people on the internet, your dad will kill me," She spoke quietly.
"Okay I'll come off," Maniya spoke ending the live. Naala nodded and looked back at Malia that was sprawled out on the bed.
"Don't let her come in there, at least not till morning. My baby feels neglected," Naala said walking to the door.
"Yuck," Maniya scrunched up her face. "You don't even be spending time with me no more Ma, I watched real housewives with Nai and Sainty," Maniya spoke quietly.
"Papa loves real housewives," Naala laughed but when Maniya didn't laugh along she straightened her face.
"I know, this election is a lot. I don't even want to do it anymore," Naala admitted. She wished she never got involved because it was more messy than anything she had ever done before.
"Then why are you still doing it?" Maniya responded.
"I don't like to quit. I've quit on a lot things before, including my marriage and that wasn't right. I have to follow this through," Naala replied with a sigh.
"I wish we spent more time together though. I miss you," Maniya pouted.
"How about Jamaica? When this is all done, me and you can go," Naala suggested. "Just the two of us," She added to entice her.
"Just us two?" Maniya smiled small,
"I promise," Naala nodded. "After I give birth to these bowling balls, we'll leave your daddy with all the kids and run away,"
"Yeah let's do it," Maniya cheesed hugging her mom tightly. "I do love you mommy, even when I say mean things," She said kissing her cheek.
"I know baby," Naala smiled softly. "I love you more than life itself," She said squeezing her cheek.
Even though Naala didn't give birth to Maniya, she loved her like she did. All her children were loved by her, none more than the next.
"Go before daddy kills himself," Maniya chuckled letting her mom go.
"Pray for me," Naala told her with her fingers crossed.
"I swear y'all are so freaking nasty," Maniya gagged pushing her mom gently out of the room.
~~
Naala woke up to no one beside her, only a note and a bunch of red roses.
"He's cheating," Naala mumbled to herself taking the notecard. It read,
'I left my card on the nightstand, 100,000 is the limit. A'
"Never mind," Naala sung getting out of the bed with a pep in her step. She hadn't had a good shopping trip in weeks and she couldn't wait.
Standing in front of the mirror, Naala frowned at the size of her stomach. It was relatively small for twins, smaller than her normal size.
Naala grabbed her phone of the counter and dialled Dr Reece's number.
"Hi pretty girl," Dr Reece answered almost immediately.
"Hey Claire, this may seem like a silly question but are you sure it was twins?" Naala asked examining herself in the mirror.
"I'm very sure," Dr Reece laughed lightly. "What's made you ask?"
"I'm carrying very light, lighter than Samar," Naala explained.
"You're going to regret asking about it. Twins spurt in size normally around the last few months, you're only 6 months Naala," Dr Reece spoke with conviction.
"True," Naala mumbled. "Are you sure? Because I feel small,"
"Yes. Enjoy it, you've only got probably 3 weeks till you can't see your feet," Dr Reece answered with a smile.
"I felt huge last night, it's so weird," Naala told her, "Anyway I'm sure you have other patients to get to,"
"You pay the most," Dr Reece joked making Naala laugh and shake her head.
They wrapped up and Naala quickly got in the shower so she could get out of the house.
Naala dressed up in a casual two piece Fendi sweatsuit. She paired it with her Fendi flats. She let her hair flow down her back and slid her sunglasses onto her face.
She made sure to grab Dave's black card and slid it into her purse. She couldn't forget that.
Naala heard the same female voice down the stairs and rolled her eyes.
"Jennifer," She announced when she made it to the bottom of the steps.
"It's Jessica," Jessica frowned watching Naala glide towards her.
"Same difference," Naala smiled. "Your friend isn't here by the way," She referred to Dave.
"I just wanted to drop this off," Jessica said with a small smile. She dropped Dave's wedding band into the palm of Naala's hand.
"..."
Naala stared at the ring in her hand, she knew it was Dave's because it had her initials engraved in it.
"He must have dropped it when he came round the other day," Jessica said breaking through the silence.
"Miss Ruby?" Naala called out, still staring down at the ring.
"Yes Princess," Ruby responded appearing from the living room.
"Can you set a place for Jasmine at the table? She's joining me for breakfast," Naala said tucking the ring into her purse.
"Of course," Ruby said giving Naala a funny look.
"I think you owe me a bit of your time," Naala smiled at Jessica.
Jessica fidgeted uncomfortably, there was something about Naala that didn't sit well with her. The twitch of her eye kept throwing her off but Naala didn't seem to notice.
"I have a lot of work to do," Jessica stuttered stepping back.
"It would be rude to decline," Naala replied turning away from her. "Come on, I don't bite," She said over her shoulder.
When Jessica started to follow behind her, Naala turned around and smiled, "Only if you want me too," She spoke in a small whisper.
Jessica laughed nervously and rubbed her arm. This was not how she expected to spend her morning.
The house was relatively silent because all the children were at school so the only noise was the workers cleaning the house.
"Hey mamas big boy," Naala cooed at Cabo who was laid out in the kitchen. He jumped up and began to growl at Jessica.
"Cabo, stop it," Naala said picking him up off the floor. "We are nice to our guests," She said petting his fur.
"Sit please," Ruby said to Jessica, gesturing to the seat opposite Naala. She turned back to the counter and carried a full plate over to Naala.
"For my Princess," Ruby gushed setting the plate down and getting her some cutlery.
"Miss Ruby," Naala pouted looking at the plate. It was full of all Naala's current favorite breakfast foods. There was sausages, eggs, waffles and a huge helping of hot sauce.
"Turkey sausage for the babies," Ruby smiled pouring her a glass of apple juice.
"I'm still not too sure about that," Naala muttered placing her napkin on her lap.
"Jessica, order what you like, don't worry I'm paying," Naala chuckled with a small smile.
"Could I have a glass of water?" Jessica asked uncomfortably.
"Boring," Naala sang looking to Cabo who was waiting patiently for something to fall off her plate.
"Can I ask why you wanted me to stay?" Jessica built up the courage to ask. She had been sat watching Naala moan loudly over the food in front of her for about 5 minutes.
"Mmm, I almost forgot," Naala mumbled wiping her mouth.
"Are you familiar with Great Falls Virginia?" Naala asked setting her fork down.
"Not really," Jessica shook her head straight away.
"Oh okay," Naala answered sitting back in her seat. "A little birdie may have told me a certain Mr and Mrs Fulton live in a small little village just off the coast of it,"
Jessica's blood ran cold. Naala was referring to her elderly parents who lived in Virginia.
"How do you know that?" Jessica said slowly.
"I know everything." Naala said crossing her arms over her stomach. "I know that Miss Ruby likes strawberries but hates apples. I know my youngest daughters favorite thing to do is to smash objects around the house,"
"But mostly I know my husband," Naala finished. "I know his routine, I know where he goes every morning, every hour of every blessed day," She smiled.
"I'm-"
"Ah," Naala held her hand up. "It's rude to interrupt," She gripped the knife on the table.
"I also know that my husband hasn't worn this ring since the day we got it engraved. Do you want to know why?" Naala asked her.
Jessica shook her head making Naala bang the table.
"Do you want to know why?" Naala repeated through gritted teeth.
"Why?" Jessica asked, her voice shaking.
"Because it doesn't fit," Naala breathed out. "It's never fit him, hence the reason it's engraved. So now you can understand why it couldn't have fallen off, simply because it couldn't have be on," She said with joy.
"I didn't —"
"Shut up!" Naala snapped standing up. "You're working with someone but I can't think who for the life of me," She said honestly.
"Look someone dropped the ring off at my door. They told me to bring it to you, I'm not lying," Jessica rushed out.
"You know I wondered." Naala said, "I wondered how a broke, low down whore ended up in this neighbourhood,"
Jessica sighed and closed her eyes. She felt like this was the end for her.
"How did you get here?" Naala asked calmly.
"Someone has been communicating with me. They gave me keys, money and a brand new car. They told me to move in to that house," Jessica replied fearfully.
"But why?" Naala stressed. "To seduce my husband? It doesn't take all that. He would fuck you without all that," She spoke mostly to herself.
"Can you not hurt my parents? I promise I don't know why they are making me do this," Jessica begged.
"Shut up and let me think," Naala sat back down. "They obviously want you but for what?"
"I don't know! I'm just from a small town, I had never even heard of you before I came here," Jessica spoke quickly when Naala lifted the knife up.
"Give me your phone," Naala ordered. "We'll get to the bottom of this, together," She said with her hand out.
Jessica hesitantly handed the phone over, she had nothing to hide. Naala didn't seem like she was playing and she liked her life, she didn't want to die.
~~
"I got the bags," Mason told Naala as he followed her around Saks.
Naala was about to shop till she literally dropped because she was stressed now and stress shopping always calmed her.
"Have we been to Chanel? I can't remember," She paused looking towards Joy.
"No we haven't, but it was busy when we walked past," Joy said tapping away on her business phone.
"Mmm they'll clear it for me," Naala answered letting Mason lead the way.
"Only 10 more minutes Princess," Mason spoke causing her to roll her eyes.
"Amir doesn't control me," Naala snapped at him. "He hasn't answered my calls all day but he can manage to tell you where and how I can go?"
"I don't know, I will call him," Mason said with his hand on the small of her back, guiding her through the array of people.
"Why does he call you Princess? Why do they all call you that?" Joy finally asked Naala.
"I don't trust this girl," Naleli's voice floated in Naala's head.
"Just a childhood nickname," Naala mumbled flipping her hair over her shoulder.
"Mrs Brewster!" The Chanel sales associate shot up. "You didn't let us know you were coming,"
Naala had a very big account at that store and when she was in, she was most definitely going to blow a bag. She had become one of their exclusive customers.
"My husband is treating me today," Naala smiled at him. The associate quickly ushered the remaining customers out of the store and began to close up.
Mason stood outside of the store protectively, making it clear that someone important was there.
"I don't want a big fuss, only a few pieces today," Naala laughed setting her purse in Joy's hands.
"I saved some things for you, let me bring them out," The woman rushed. Her commission was about to be off the chain with Naala's purchases.
Naala walked around the store, looking at the things they had set out.
"You have this one already," Naleli reminded her internally.
"Shut up today," Naala mumbled in response. Recently, she had been hearing Naleli everywhere she went.
"These are new colours of your favorite," The woman explained placing them down on the counter.
"Ooo lemme show my husband," Naala said taking out her phone.
Bae which one?
you gonna buy all 3 anyway But that first one go hard
ikr so cuteWhere are you?
Ima see you back at the house
"I think I'm gonna go with the white," Naala pointed to the one Dave said he liked.
"Only that one?" The sales associate raised a brow.
"Ugh you convinced me," Naala sighed. "That's it though, I've gone over my budget," Naala spoke whilst pulling out the black card.
"Naala it's the school," Joy said handing Naala her work phone.
"What school?" Naala muttered taking the phone.
"St Martins," Joy answered quickly. Naala straightened up because that was her children's school.
"Mrs Brewster, I'm very sorry to disturb you at work but I —"
"Stop stuttering and tell me what's happened," Naala stepped to the side away from Joy.
"There's been an accident. A bomb," The teacher said lowly making Naala's heart run cold.
~~
"You're gonna give birth in this car if you don't calm down," Dave said holding Naala's hand.
"Amir a bomb!" Naala screamed making Mason wince. "Our kids," She added with tears in her eyes.
"Relax, nothing can happen to them," Dave spoke wiping her eyes.
"This is too far now, someone is after our family. I want them to leave New York, we should all go," Naala sniffed leaning into him.
"But the election," Dave reminded her. "We'll send them to stay with your mom," He said speaking in her ear.
Naala turned her head to him and searched his face for answers.
"Eyes everywhere," He said quietly, hiding it with kissing her neck. Naala looked up and saw Joy watching them and when they caught eyes, she looked away quickly.
"Mmm," Naala hummed turning her head properly to kiss him.
When they started to kiss more passionately, Mason cleared his throat and pressed the button to bring up the partition, leaving Dave and Naala at the back.
They pulled away almost immediately and focused back on their conversation.
"It's someone that has access to the house," Naala said to him. "The neighbour dropped this off today," She said placing the ring in Dave's hand.
"I keep this in the drawer, I even forgot I had it," Dave responded looking down at the ring. "What the fuck?" He exclaimed in confusion.
Naala reached to the side and turned the music up to drown their voices out.
"You think it's your assistant?" Dave asked turning to her properly.
"I don't think she's smart enough." Naala commented. "But I can't underestimate her. She's always around when things go wrong,"
"Fuck the election. You're going to London," Dave announced taking his phone out his pocket.
"Amir I'm 6 months pregnant, I can't just relocate," Naala shook her head.
"Love that's more of a reason you should!" Dave exclaimed angrily. "I'm not letting you get hurt especially not while you're carrying my babies,"
"I'm not running away from it, clearly they want me," Naala replied running her hands through her hair.
"You have to go Naala, it wasn't a choice," Dave said firmly.
"I don't want to argue with you right now bae, I'm scared," Naala admitted quietly.
"You getting on that plane," Dave said pulling her closer to him.
Naala's personal phone rang loudly causing her to groan.
"I don't need anymore bad news," She said not looking at her phone. Dave looked down at the caller.
"It's Hassan," He informed her making her shoot up. Hassan never called her, unless something was wrong with Samar.
"Hello?" Naala breathed out,
"What the fuck is going on Naala?" Hassan shouted. Naala rested back on Dave,
"What happened now?" Naala questioned into the phone.
"What happened?" Hassan said loudly. "They threw a fucking fire bomb through our window,"
"What? Where's Samar? Is he okay?" Naala sat up quickly.
"He was crawling around Naala, that could have killed him," Hassan responded.
That was a surprise to Naala because Hassan never communicated to her that Samar was crawling.
"That's not my fault Hassan, you can't blame me for that. You took him half way across the world," Naala argued with him.
"I swear to God, you're never gonna see him again. I ain't got time for shit like this, on God I don't," Hassan ranted.
"You —"
"Shut up and fucking listen to me for once in your damn life Naala," Hassan shouted making her close her mouth. "You are never seeing him again, I can't have my son around that shit, I can't,"
"Hassan what are you gonna do?" Naala said tearfully.
"We leaving and I'm not telling you where we'll be. Keep Saint because I can't have both of them with me," Hassan spoke.
"That's my baby San, he's my baby," Naala cried into the phone. "I already let you take him from me, you can't stop all communication,"
"I can and I will," Hassan said hanging up the phone on her.
"I'm so tired of him," Naala sobbed in Dave's arms. "This isn't my fault, he keeps blaming me for everything,"
"You gotta calm down baby," Dave sighed rubbing her back. He hated hearing her cry and he hated that Hassan was the cause.
"He can't take my baby away," Naala cried harder. She had barely come to terms with Samar being in Atlanta and now suddenly he would be gone again.
"I'm going to talk to him, I'll sort it all out," Dave spoke reassuringly. He meant every word he spoke.
~~
Dave felt something heavy weighing him down in his sleep. Opening his eyes, Naala was hovering over him holding a knife above his chest.
"Naala put the knife down," Dave said calmly, the look in her eyes meant she wasn't playing.
"It's been you," Naala replied bringing the knife down closer to him. "This whole time, it's been you," She whispered.
"What are you talking about?" Dave spoke, his eyes darting from her face to the knife above him.
"You killed my sister," Naala shouted, her eyes twitching profusely. "This entire time, I kept thinking, who knows me better than anyone else?"
"Let me explain," Dave sighed lifting his hand up to take the knife from her.
"Don't!" Naala said jerking back. "There's nothing to explain,"
Dave grabbed the knife quickly and threw it to the ground. Naala huffed and got off him, trying her best to get it back.
"You're off your meds," Dave told her grabbing her arm.
"No I'm not," Naala replied quickly. "It's all here, every signature, every order, all your plans," She shoved her iPad into his hands.
It was all there. The order to kill Naleli, the order to swap out her guards so they could infiltrate her close circle. The plans of the bombs let off at the school and every address, including Hassan's Atlanta one.
"I didn't do this," Dave said in confusion scrolling through the plans.
"But it's right there, David Brewster," Naala shouted back pointing to the screen. Under everything, Dave's name was neatly scribbled under.
"Baby I would never —" Dave was cut off by Naala backing up from him.
"Our kids Amir." Naala muttered. "You went as far as harming our children?"
"I would never hurt them," Dave argued back.
"So you would rather hurt me?" Naala cried into her hands. "You took my twin sister from me,"
"Naala you have to believe me when I say I don't know what the fuck is going on," Dave cursed standing back to give her more space.
"Think baby, why would I do all of this and still stay?" Dave asked her.
"I don't know but it's all there," Naala whimpered sitting at the edge of the bed.
"I would never hurt you like that Love, I couldn't do it," Dave spoke getting closer. He got down in front of her and held her legs.
"Then explain this to me," Naala cried lightly. "We're about to have these babies but I can't do that if you're working against me,"
"I would never do that too you baby," Dave explained softly. "Someone is setting me up, they're in your head,"
Naala shook her head and sniffed. "Who's doing this to me?"
"It's Joy," Dave answered. It didn't take him long to figure it out.
"You think she's working with the Parkers?" Naala asked looking up at him.
"I know she is, there is no way she's working on her own," Dave agreed straight away.
Someone knocked on the door, interrupting their conversation.
"Princess it's done," Mason stood outside the door.
"Shit," Naala whispered putting her head down.
"What did you do?" Dave said standing up. Naala bit her lip and let more tears fall.
"What did you do?" Dave shouted causing her to jump.
"I didn't know," Naala shook her head. "I was angry and I wanted you to hurt as much I hurt all the time," She confessed.
"Who Naala?" Dave said putting on a shirt.
"Your mom," Naala said shamefully. Dave stood up straight and almost kicked her head off of her shoulders.
"You're lucky you're pregnant otherwise I would have punched the fuck out of you," Dave snapped pushing past her.
"Amir don't leave, it's not safe," Naala sniffed standing in his way.
"Get the fuck out of my way," Dave grunted.
"No stop it," Naala held her hand up. "If you leave, they'll kill you," She pleaded with him.
"You put a hit out on me?" Dave asked in disbelief. "Ion even know who you are anymore Naala, move out my way." He was beyond angry at her.
"I'm still me, I'm still your wife," Naala said holding his hand. "I can't lose you so please stay here, I'll send someone to check on her,"
"Move!" Dave shouted loudly making her jump. "You ain't nothing but a stupid ass hoe," He spoke maliciously.
"A hoe because I tried to kill your mom?" Naala asked crossing her arms.
"I took you back after you finished fucking all my friends," Dave shouted at her. "I should have listened to my mama, you're nothing but a low down dirty bitch,"
"Fine, leave," Naala spat. "I hope they kill you," She said spitefully.
FAST-FORWARD 18 HRS LATER ...
"Ma'am, ma'am," A nurse said standing in front of Naala. "You're bleeding," She added analysing Naala's appearance.
Naala sat in the waiting room, Dave's blood all over her. She didn't even know how long she had been sat there.
"It's not my blood," Naala whispered staring at her wedding ring which no longer shined in the light, her husbands blood was in every crevice.
"How many months are you ma'am? We need to check you out," They continued to tend to her. One of the bullets meant for Dave managed to graze her side.
"6 months." Naala mumbled letting them lift her onto a stretcher.
"Are you in any pain? Is there someone we can call?" The nurse continued to bombard her with questions that she had no answers to.
When Naala stopped responding, they took that as I sign that she didn't want to speak.
Outside the hospital, Joy sat in the back of a Bentley truck, with her legs crossed comfortably.
"Is it done?" He asked looking over at her.
"All done," Joy responded with a smile. "Did I do good baby?" She smiled at him.
"I'm proud of you," Mr Parker smirked. "Well done," He leaned over and kissed her lips.
"You have Eli's most prized possession right under your thumb," He said putting his arm around her.
"Naala is gullible, she hasn't suspected a thing," Joy chuckled.
"The Salami's took everything from me," Justice spoke. "He killed our whole tribe and escaped to America and changed their name to Simmons,"
"The Salami's?" Joy raised a brow. "So they're -"
"Royals, yes," Justice nodded. "Eli took everything but now I have his everything right where I need her,"
