29. The Ball #2

18:23, 25 July 2013

Grace's POV:By the time we were home in Mystic Falls, I was starving for blood. The witches had been constantly at the back of my mind throughout that whole time, the gooey red liquid pulsing through their veins, and the only thing distracting me was them hurting Kol.I ran straight to the Mikaelsons' with him and grabbed a blood bag when we were free, and I started sucking it down with ease. Damon had chucked Bonnie over his shoulder after knocking her out, and Stefan had Elena over his own. I bet he was pleased he got that job. Damon must be jealous.Klaus just chattered all the way home in the car, about the witches and how easy they were to overpower, when everyone knew Allaric was the only reason the original was even let into the house.Me and Kol got the delight of sitting in the back of Klaus's large Volkswagen, while the Salvatores and Allaric zipped back in the vampire hunter's car. I could bet ours was the loudest. First of all, Klaus managed to turn the music up so loud that it hurt even my vampire hardened ears, but not the originals of course. I constantly moaned at him, but that just made him chuckle. Also, there was a bit of catching up to do. I hadn't seen much of Kol since going to my Dad's for the week, and I wanted as much time with him as possible. And Klaus joined into our chatter. And there was still the problem of the Mikaelson family being inevitably linked together by the Bennett witch. Damon suggested maybe killing her would help, but we couldn't be sure of that, and Elena's face at this suggestion showed great contempt. This was right before she passed out from blood loss. And now I was laying on the couch, sucking up my fifth blood bag since I had been home, no one in sight. This was good because they would probably rip the bags away from my clutches and insist I was becoming Stefan, who had always had trouble controlling his blood. Psht. Whatever.I laid back down, and fumbled through my phone as a text message bleeped in. It was from Damon:'We are at the exact spot where Esther tried to link the Mikaelsons before. Bonnie is unlinking them, and Kol and Klaus are with me. Don't get blood drunk ;)'I laughed at the last comment because he knew that's exactly what I was doing. There was a shuffling sound from upstairs, and I frantically tried to hide the bloodbags behind some pillows, when Elijah waltzed into the room, and I relaxed.Sure, he would be disturbed by my blood consumption, but he would be calm and not angry like his hybrid brother. And he knew I was hungry.I grinned at him cheekily and he just raised an eyebrow and sat down in the couch opposite me. "I see you're having a fabulous time."His words seemed amused but concerned at the same time, and I tried to keep a straight face."Well, I was hungry and all. I haven't had blood since before I went to my Dad's remember."Elijah nodded. "Some vampires learn to live with no blood."I pretended to put on a horrified expression. "Is that you Mr Mikaelson?"He shook his head with a smirk, whilst pouring himself a drink of scotch. Strange. I never knew Elijah as much of a drinker."I have tried, believe me. It's not exactly the easiest thing."I laughed, and he tilted his head, his hair flopping over his face. A goofy smile was displayed, and I gulped down the rest of my drink with one raised eyebrow."Why are you staring at me like that?" I queried slowly, and he took a deep sigh."You're beautiful."Both of my eyebrows were raised now, and my lips forming the shape of an 'o'. This was strange. I had known Elijah for a long while, and he had never said anything like that, or looked at me this way. Maybe it was the drink. Or just his natural shyness. I didn't know what to say."Um.. thanks." I smiled at him, laughing nervouslyThe Mikaelson slowly stood up and came over to stand in front of where I was sitting. He softly grabbed my face and pulled me up so I was staring into his eyes."I have always liked you Grace. You're strong, you're gorgeous, and you bounce back when so many bad things have happened to you."I just stood their, dumbstruck. Elijah? Sure, maybe Klaus would say something like this, he was better friends with me than any of the Mikaelsons, before Kol. But I thought of Elijah as a big brother.I was saved by the ringing of the phone from his jacket pocket. Not taking his eyes off of me, he reached in and answered it."Hello?"I zoned in to hear what the caller was saying."Hello brother. She has unlinked us, and poor Bonnie has died in the process.""Oh, that's unfortunate."It was Kol, and he carried on. "We plan to have a ball at the house tonight, to celebrate that we are all saved and in her.. uh remembrance."My face drooped as I thought about no more happy Bonnie face around the school halls. Elena would be devastated. Kol had no idea what had just happened between me and Elijah. It was such a strange time for him to call. After a few more other things to be said, Elijah just nodded a few times, before saying goodbye, and flicking the phone back into his pocket. He straightened his jacket and smiled down at me. "Well looks like we're having a ball tonight. You might want to go and get ready."I smiled, but was feeling strange about what he had said before. And did I have feelings for Elijah? I didn't know. But one thing was for sure, I couldn't tell Kol.The Mikaelson smiled at me once more, before turning around and walking out of the room, to go upstairs and get changed. I took this as my cue to leave, and cautiously stood up with my jacket in hand. This had been a strange day. ####Klaus's POV:I was particularly thrilled about holding another ball at the house. Kol and Grace had first talked at the last one, and me and Caroline had danced together. I hoped the blonde would show up again. The night would be perfect.I styled my hair with one last brush, and whipped on my dress jacket, before rushing down the stairs to see people filing in through the door already. Kol and Rebekah were greeting them with a grin.We had used the time of year as an excuse to throw a ball aswell, and mistletoe and a giant christmas tree were set up in the entrance way. I smiled as the humans we compelled had set up the mistletoe. Maybe I could drag Caroline under there. I had to get rid of Tyler first of course. Grace walked through the door, and Kol took her gently by the arm, kissing her on the cheek. I smiled at their happiness, and she looked up at me on the stairwell and beamed. I gave a small wave, and carried down the rest of the way to the bottom, just in time to Caroline walking in, followed by the younger Salvatore. Without Elena.I smirked and strolled over to the twosome, who were laughing and peering around the room. As soon as they saw me their laughs faded, and my smirk deepened."Hello love. You look lovely tonight."She looked down stubbornly. "Because I wasn't magical gifted a dress this time."I snickered, remembering the first ball. "It was beautiful, you have to admit. As did you in it."She blushed lightly, and I smiled at her warmly. Stefan sighed, and strolled away through the crowd, hands behind his back. No Elena apparently equals no fun. I wonder why he was here if she was still recovering. My older brother came down the stairs slowly, gripping the hand rail and looking dashing as usual. The formal look suited him, I'm not sure it was really my style. He smiled at me and nodded, and I grinned back. His gaze wandered over the crowd, until his eyes met with Grace, who was clutching onto Kol's arm as he interacted with guests.I frowned in thought as Elijah and Grace had a deep eye connection, and he looked at her longingly. She stared back as if in shock, and after a few seconds he shook himself off and carried on down the stairs, his eyes skimming the crowd. Now my eyes followed my brother as he slid down the stairs, until I lost his figure in the mob of ball gowns and suits. Looking up to the roof, I frowned again. This was concerning. The look Elijah gave her, made me wonder. It seems everybody was after Grace. Kol better be careful or somebody more dashing might catch her eye. Laughing to myself, I glided through to the ballroom, as the dancing started to commence.---------------------------------------------SO I'VE HIT 10,000 READS AND I JUST WANNA THANK EVERYONE BECAUSE YOU'RE ALL AMAZING XOXPLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT BY FOLLOWING MY TUMBLRS I PROMISE MY NORMAL TUMBLR IS JUST ALL ABOUT THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE, NO MAJORLY HIPSTER OR MAJORLY GOTH, JUST EVERYTHING XOXOanyway, VOTE and ill upload more, as usual, but this time I want EIGHT votes before I'll upload, sorry to be picky guys xxxCOMMENT feedbackand FOLLOW dis:tumblrs: roll3r-skatinqdelena-klaroline101I FOLLOW BACK ON BOTHINBOX ME TO MAKE A GUARANTEED FRIEND ILY
