Chapter 8

03:58, 10 January 2014

Lily opened her eyes. It was dark... darker than she remembered. "Tonks?" her voice was just over a whisper. "Is - is he gone?" "For now," Tonks whispered back. Lily couldn't see her, but she could tell she was near her. "Tonks, I'm scared," Lily cried softly, beginning to shake. "I'm so scared - I - I want my mother -" "Calm down," said Tonks shakily, reaching out for the little girl and grasping her quivering hand, "everything will be fine... I'll protect you, Lily, with my life."They sat there for minutes until Tonks said, "It's really green, isn't it?" "Green?" Lily turned confused - no, it was not green at all, everything was black. "What do you mean? It's so dark in here." "Dark?" Now it was Tonks's turn to be unclear. "Lily, the fire's still burning, I can see everything. What are you talking about?" "N-no, it's all dark!" Lily yelped. "Tonks, I'm blind! I can't see a thing! I was hit on the head twice and now I've gone blind!" "You can't be blind!" "But I am! I'm kidnapped, Time-Traveled, insane, and blind! What else could go wrong? Where are you?" Tonks saw Lily's eyes darting around, and whenever they fell on her, her gaze was fixed, like she was looking at something far away. And they looked empty. It was then Tonks knew the poor girl really was blind. Lily started to cry, tears staining her face. "I'm right here," she said softly, scooting forward to hug her. "And you're not insane. I'm still going to help you with that power of yours, okay? This... unfortunate circumstance doesn't matter. Once you get to your dad he'll make your sight come back." Lily doubted it. She also doubted her father would come for her. She had yelled at him, surely he would be angry with her...She would never see him again. "I want my dad," she whispered into Tonks's shoulder, sobbing. * "The first Horcrux is... Oh screw it, on Umbridge," Ron (O) muttered. "How're we going to -" "Umbridge?" the younger Harry interrupted. "What's this got to do with her?" Dumbledore let them sleep in the Gryffindor Tower. Victoire and Roxanne both fell asleep on the couch, sitting up. Everyone else was sleeping except Remus, Sirius, Harry (O and Y) Ginny (O and Y), Hermione (O and Y), Ron (O and Y), George (O and Y), Fred (Y) and James (who insisted on not sleeping), who were seated in the common room, thinking. Dumbledore was there, still shocked, listening."Sirius's brother Regulus stole Voldemort's Horcrux and attempted to destroy it," said Harry (O). "He failed, and when Sirius died Dung came and emptied Grimlaud. He took the locket and sold it to Umbridge, and she still has it." "But I'm not dead yet," said Sirius. "So that means -" "- its at Grimlaud, yes," said Ginny (O). "We're going to need a better escape plan for Gringotts, if we have to get in there," Ron (O) commented. "There's no way I'm getting on a bloody dragon again. That was a one-time experience, and it sucked." "What the -" Sirius began. "Long story," said Hermione (O) quickly. "Just watch Deathly Hallows Part Two and you'll understand," said James. "Deathly Hallo-" "Don't ask," Harry (O) said. "I have no idea how the Muggles got ahold of those books Hermione transformed from my memories. Then they made movies and it's apparently the biggest phenomenon of all time, an I'm kind of scared of Muggles. Moving off that, we're going to need to borrow the Sword of Gryffindor for awhile, Professor, it's -" "I am already aware of it's abilites, Harry. That can be arranged," said Dumbledore. "Do you have any idea of where Nymphadora and Lily might be?" "Not really," said Fleur. "Maybe Malfoy Manor," said Bill. "No," said Harry (O). "Voldemort's not stupid, he'd expect we'd think of that. He'd go somewhere we wouldn't expect him to be." "Handy piece of information Harry, but the thing is, we still don't know where he is," said George (O). "Let's find out then," said Ginny (O). "Isn't there some spell we can do to find certain things? I mean, Voldemort's a thing, right?" "I think he's a snake," said Fred. "Just my thoughts." "Figures. But can't you do one of those spells?""I could," said Harry (O), "if it was still 2019. Those spells haven't been invented yet, so they won't work. And after we get ahold of the first Horcrux we'd better get on the run, because he'll be after us, all right." "What if we just let him find us? We could -" "- die," George (O) finnished for Ginny (O). "We could die." "Or we could follow him -" "We're not following Voldemort," said Bill sternly. "You know what, never mind, I'm going to bed. Good night." * "I miss my Mum," Lily whispered, picturing her mother in her world of darkness. She had been blind for hours now, and Tonks hadn't let go of her. She didn't want to let go of Tonks - she thought she wouldn't be able to find her again. Some Death Eater came to check on them once, but Lily didn't know what he looked like, since she couldn't see. Lily felt more helpless. She couldn't see, couldn't do magic, and her family thought she was mad for all she knew. "I know," said Tonks. "You'll - you'll see her again, Lils." Lily didn't think she would. She didn't think she would see anyone again, much less her mum. She wondered if she would be blind forever. No, stop thinking that, she thought, scolding herself. She would see again... If they ever escaped.
