The Lies Between Us

3 - Careful What You Wish For

Lisie was trying her best to focus on what the art director was saying. She's meeting the costume designer of Princetown for the second time and this was supposed to be exciting for her hadn't Ross called her last night and said she wanted to meet up.

"The outfits really fit you well but I think we still need to get you more toned up for the swim suits..."

Since the rumor got out of hand, she wanted nothing to do with it because; A. Ross and her boyfriend would probably never break up under any circumstances and B. even though she loves the guy to death, she would never break the sister code. Because dating her best friend's ex sounds like a cheap idea. But nevertheless, it didn't mean she wanted to be chummy with the two of them like she's okay.

It will surely take time before things between the three of them get back to normal.

"Alright Ms. Moore, you're all set. Aren't you excited to know who's gonna be your leading man? They say the producers are going to get Jackson Wang. He's such a babe."

The other stylist said with hopeful eyes. The talk about the film got her thoughts away from her best friend.

"I'm actually hoping it would be Tait Kingston."

She didn't know why she blurted his name like that as the guy has never showed up to audition. Maybe because she was still not over the fact that he followed her on insta the other day.

"Heartthrob of Heartthrobs, King Tait. He's a lot to handle Miss." The stylist giggled.

She frowned at the petite girl curious why she said those words.

"About six years ago, I was working on his costume for Immortal Leagues..."

Star Fact: Immortal Leagues. An action-adventure film about e-sports starring Tait Kingston, Daniel Henney, Jacob Elordi and Maria Pedraza. A movie about friendship, betrayals and what it takes to be the best team in games. The movie was critically acclaimed because of it's one-of-a-kind set production and acting prowess. It was the movie that earned Tait Kingston an Oscar for best actor.

"He was definitely a mischievous guy. He likes to play pranks but no one calls him out because no one can. I mean with that face, he can practically get everything he wants. Everyone here wanted to be in his pants." The stylist bit her lip for talking to much.

"Sorry. Tmi. But not me, I'm married. Haha...so anyway, besides the fun personality. He's really just a hot guy. Sometimes I think he's not even aware of it. One time he came to the set wearing sweatpants and I would bet on it that he's not wearing anything under those pants."

Lisie couldn't help but blush about what she heard.

"If I were you, I wouldn't wish for Tait Kingston. Or you'll end up falling for him like all his other co-stars."

"Yeah, then I guess he's just out of my league huh."

The stylist made a face not meaning to sound like an asshole but she already hit a nerve. "You're Lisie Moore. I'm sure whoever gets the part will get a massive boner just by talking to you. Especially in these skimpy silk lingerie."

"Thanks," she bit her lip to keep from laughing. "But you don't need to say that." Lisie took the lingerie from her hands then pulled her dress off easily. She tried the lavender teddy in front of the mirror to see if it fits. And when it does she smirked at herself.

Although she's wearing a tube and a bikini under her dress, the lingerie was more cute than sexy.

"Yall can have him if you want to. Didn't know he's off limits."

The stylist's jaw dropped at what she said while the art director only stifled a laugh.

"Mr. Kingston sounds like he's a great guy and all, but honestly I think I have far better taste."

Lisie took off the lingerie again and strutted in her underwear towards her dress making everyone gape at her. "A guy like that will definitely get everything he wants but the girl he'll love will never get a good night sleep believing he'll only need her."

After getting her stuff set, she went out the room and bid everyone a good day.

"Oof, I say whoever it is that's acting alongside her better be careful." A male staff commented.

"Bad bitch is a goddess." Another one whistled.

On her way to Ross' place, she couldn't help but be curious about the on-going casting for Abe Anerky's role. Since the topic from the costume department made her uneasy, she couldn't take her mind off her future leading man.

Princetown has a great story. Although she's not a big fan, she's read the first book of the series. It tells about the story of seven boys who formed a secret alliance and are descendants of assassins who swore to protect the country from terrorists and the corrupt government. It was very political and the first book was so intense because it was about Abe Anerky's character who has two sides. He was charming as he was lethal. His bloodlust was sometimes uncalled for. And his obsession and love for his lady, who's going to be portrayed by her, was carnal and sometimes poses danger to her character's life.

Just thinking about Tait Kingston playing that character gave her goosebumps. Maybe it was not a good idea of her to even think it's possible for him to get the part.

She opens her email to check if there were updates to the official cast. The role should be fulfilled by now. Soo said that if schedule would be delayed, her runway shows could be affected.

She couldn't care less about her modelling right now because she wanted to focus on acting. She's excited but there's a part of her that was scared of what's to come. And for whatever reason, she knew this film would definitely change her status as a celebrity - good or bad.

When she saw that the name beside Abe Anerky was still blank, she was relieved. The actor who's going to play this role would be the person she'll spend a lot of time with. Some Princetown fans wanted the role for Jackson Wang because he looked the part. Maybe he's her safest bet for the role. She also think he's already got the character ready since she was there when he auditioned. He did great and she thinks he's a big flirt.

She reached Ross' place and when she knocked on her door, her friend seemed to be uneasy.

"Hey," Ross greeted her panting.

"Why are you such in a hurry?" Lisie let herself in and slumped herself on the couch.

"Um...um, I'm just sleep deprived that's all. Hehe..."

"So...why'd you ask to meet?"

Ross' eyes turned misty. She's still the same girl who always cry at the most petty things. "Oh come on Ross, I'm just busy and I know you are too so I was just really surprised when you called last night."

"S-sorry. I know this is a not good timing but...I haven't had a chance to say a lot of things the last time we met..."

"Okay I'm here now." Lisie said dismissively. She didn't mean to sound rude but it's difficult especially since Soo's not here and she's still hurting about everything that involves her and her boyfriend.

"Can you be a little nicer?"

"I'm trying my best here."

The next thing she knows, Ross had already wrapped her arm around her shoulder hugging her close.

"I'm really sorry Lis. I didn't mean to hurt you." She sobbed.

"I know that even though you said you're okay, you're not."

Lisie bit her lip to control her emotions. "Ross...I'm fine." Her voice croaked.

"No...I know you're not. I want us to be friends again."

"We're still friends." Lisie meant that and if she learned something from what happened, it was that she shouldn't have treated Ross like dirt in the first place. Maybe it was normal she overreacted when she found out they suddenly became a couple, but she should have had played the big person and confronted her first.

"I'm breaking up with Jace."

"What?"

"You deserve him more than I do."

"Don't give me that bullshit. The guy fuckin loves you and as hard as it is for me to say that, you can't change that fact."

Telling the truth hurt. But somehow it was more comforting than believing a lie.

"H-he...doesn't love me. H-he only acts like that because...I..." Ross' lips trembled as she spoke.

Her voice got cut off by the sound of a door opening.

"Shit" Ross muttered and stood up.

Footsteps coming from the masters bedroom got heavier as it drew closer.

"I didn't know we have a visitor today. Hey, Lis. Long time no see." Shirtless and drowsy, Jacey yawned and picked up his shirt from under the center table sending signals that he and Ross did the deed last night.

"Hate to break it to you but, we'd really prefer to be alone today."

"Shut up, Jace!"

"That's not what you told me at 4am this morning..." He groaned purposely acting rude. His words were cutting daggers to Lisie's heart.

"You're a jerk!" Ross yelled some more.

"Wow this is perfect." Lisie remarked sarcastically and stood up. "I guess I'll be going then."

"Lisie, please..." Ross begged her not to go.

Lisie ignored her then went closer to Jacey. It took a lot of courage from her to look at the guy straight in the eye. She couldn't believe she let this guy ruin her friendship with Ross. One slap on his face was enough to break the silence between the three of them.

"Look, I did not stay away from you guys just to find out you're acting like an asshole. How thick of you to come in between me and Ross. How dare you make me fall in love with you and choose her! If you want to push me away then treat your girlfriend better."

Jacey's eye were bloodshot from hearing Lisie's words.

"Otherwise, I'll put up a fight and take her away from you. Don't make me hate you." Her sharp words were enough to make Jacey ashamed of his actions.

"I...I'm sorry, Lis..."

Lis ignored him and took her purse preparing to go. She took one last glance at the two of them and stopped at her best friend. "If Jacey starts acting like an ass again, you know where to find me."

Star Sightings:

Model Actress, Lisie Moore seen leaving her apartment with fellow model friend Jinny Pfiefer at 12 midnight to attend a party hosted by Irene Kim. Both models were seen wearing dresses from Irene Kim's spring summer collection.

"Lisie, you've been downing 5 shots of tequila. Are you sure you're okay?" Jinny asked worried about her friend's bizarre attitude.

"Jinny, I'm fine. You go dance out there."

"I can't just leave you here. You hate alcohol. This is about him, is it?"

"Him? Who? Jacey? He can go fuck himself. Haha..." Lisie was far out of it. Her eyes were out of focus and she's attracting the males in the party hadn't it for Jinny's intimidating glares.

"You're drunk. Soo's going to kill us both if we ended up on the tabloid tomorrow."

Lisie heard a song from her favorite artist, NIKI. The song was Indigo and it was enough to get her standing from her seat.

"Oh my god, let's dance!" She giggled and successfully escaped Jinny's clutches. Soon enough, her sensual moves got everyone howling.

After what happened with Jacey, Lis thought that maybe she didn't know him at all like she thought she did. And it made her realize that maybe getting her emotions rule her was the most dangerous thing that she can do. She almost always choose guys over friends and the thought that Ross was having a difficult time as well didn't cross her mind at all. Ross wanted to tell her something and it didn't look like she's happy with Jace. Everything just doesn't make sense. Maybe there's something there that she missed and she was just too conceited to see it.

"Was I always this selfish?" She thought to herself.

The music, the feel of booze, the noise of the crowd made her drown all her thoughts and when she felt that it was all becoming heavy, she opened her eyes.

"Let's get a room, baby" A voice whispered to her ear that made her shiver in an uncomfortable way.

The guy was a model and she sure knew this guy was popular because he's old money. A lot of things went through her mind. Maybe it's time she forgot about Jacey and just fool around with guys but then that move doesn't sit right with her either. Her thoughts made her sober and her logic was slowly coming back to her senses.

"I need to find my friend first. I'll be back." She lied because guys like him would never take no for an answer.

As she was making her way through the crowd looking for Jinny, she found a familiar face staring directly at her from one of the couches. She broke eye contact but when she looked again, the woman was still staring. This time the woman smirked at her before standing and strolled towards her.

Yana Lane was one of the 8 actresses that she beat for Vaia Winters' role. Sometimes she still asked herself how she surpassed all of them. When she auditioned for the role, she remembered she just wanted to act like a princess because acting like a girly girl was never her persona from the start. Lisie's always been a tomboy growing up so when she acted the part it was fun for her. She just enjoyed it and maybe that's why she got the part.

"I never really gotten a chance to congratulate you for winning the part." Yana said reaching her hand out.

"Thanks," she shook her hand. And looked around hoping to see Jinny. Yana didn't seem to like her reaction. The woman was not used to people not giving her attention when she wants to.

"Let me give you some advice, Tait's a professional. Acting comes easy to him as breathing. So it should be easy for you."

Lisie felt like her breath came short the moment she mentioned that name.

"Wait. Tait?"

Her response amused the senior actress.

"Yeah...oh you didn't know? He accepted the role. He's always been the director's first choice. Good luck." Yana smiled but Lisie knew that kind was fake. Then it dawned to her who this girl really is.

Why would she come up to her to say 'congrats' in the first place? Of course this girl was declaring war.

"She's clearly not over her ex and now she's threatened because she thinks I'll be in the way to get to him. How delusional." Lisie's thoughts.

Lisie didn't know what happened between Yana and Tait but they were an infamous pair.

"You can just tell me to back off. I completely understand." Lisie smirked walking passed her bumping her shoulder on purpose. She felt like she wasted a good 5 minutes talking to that douche when she should be looking for Jinny because she really wanted rest so she can clear her mind and make amends with Ross the next day.

Why is everyone concerned about her falling for that guy anyway? She's new but she knows how to be professional. She couldn't wait to prove to anyone that she will never fall for her co-star.

Lisie found Jinny talking to Irene at the front porch. She was strutting her way to them when a bunch of paparazzis blocked her vision.

The lights from the camera flashes were blinding and when they shouted his name, Lisie's realization overwhelmed her. She felt all her body parts stiffened when the thought finally came crashing to her.

All of a sudden, her problems with Ross and going home seemed far too small to what's coming ahead.

She's acting with the Tait Kingston. That guy who's smile was hot enough to melt her knees that night at the cake shop. The actor who's name was bigger than her career. The guy who's all the ladies are dying to sleep with.

When she saw him getting off the Rover, it was like his presence from the moment she met him got a tonne bigger. His clothes were nothing flashy but his appearance alone made all the guys in the party seem average.

She's really acting alongside this guy?

When he found her eyes, she made a run for it.
