Chapter 10

13:20, 31 July 2015

"Katerina Al Ghul," she said.

"Nyssa," Oliver breathed. She nodded towards him before continuing towards me.

"Are you ready to leave?" she asked, eyeing me up and down. I took in a deep breath and nodded.

"Katherine, where are you going?" Oliver asked again. I ignored him and followed Nyssa to the helicopter. "Nyssa! Release her!" he shouted.

"She has a duty to fulfill!" Nyssa shouted back. Oliver stared at us in confusion. My duffle was placed next to me.

"As what?"

"As heir to the Demon," she replied before the helicopter lifted into the air. I stared at Oliver as we flew away. He was staring at us, his hands clenched in fists. "You have a duty to fulfill. Unfortunately your sister died along with your other three siblings," Nyssa explained. I nodded. She's trying to make me get over Oliver. To get him out of my mind.

"How do you know that she died?" I whispered. Nyssa stared straight ahead.

"I was on her emergency contact list. Central City Hospital had called to tell me she died after she slipped into a coma. How did she become comatose?" Nyssa asked.

"Lightning. A Particle Accelerator exploded, releasing unknown energies and theoretical matters into the air, creating a lightning bolt that struck her, killing her." Who called her to say that Clarity died? And why did I not ever see Nyssa on the contact list? Nyssa nodded and we fell back into silence. I pulled a picture of Team Arrow and Team Flash out of my pocket. We had taken the picture just recently. I stared at it before sighing and stuffing it in my pocket.

"Who was the man in the red suit? The one with the lightning bolt?" Nyssa asked, suddenly interested in my life. I raised an eyebrow at her. "Oh come on, Katerina. You're my sister. And my father isn't here so he can't call me out. Who was he?" She was smiling a little. All seriousness left her face. I shrugged.

"A friend. Known him since I was a little kid. He was friends with my sister. What about you? Any special person in your life?" She stared at me in shock. "I know about Sara, you know. I was friends with her. So, are you gonna answer?" I laughed lightly. She shook her head.

"No one. Not since Sara died. I can tell you love Oliver. How long have you two been together?" The question caught me off guard. How long? Never.

"Never, actually. He told me last night and then Ra's called. You guys have phones?" She shrugged.

"If needed. Go on."

"And then I learned that I had feelings for him, too."

"Had?"

"Not gonna see him again, right? Um...is it okay if I call someone real quick? It a friend who's like my sister. I need to let her know to take care of my...dog," I lied. She nodded and looked out the window. I grabbed my phone and dialed Clarity's number. It rang and rang, but led me straight to her voicemail.

"You've reached Clarity Parker. Sorry I can't get to the phone right now. Please leave your name, number, and a brief message and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks and have a great day."

"Hey, Clar. Listen, I'm really sorry for what I'm about to do. But I have to do it to save them. If not, he'll kill them all. I'm so, so, so, so, so sorry. I hope you can forgive me. But always remember this: A man cannot live by two names. Bye, Clarity." I ended the call and threw my phone in the bag.

"Who is Clar?" Nyssa asked, her voice stern and loud. I forgot she was listening. I stayed silent and looked at my feet. "Katerina, is she still alive? Is our mother alive?" Nyssa yelled. I shook my head.

"That wasn't our mom, Nyssa. Claire is dead. That was Clarity that I called," I told her. Her eyes widened.

"She's alive?" she shouted. I nodded. "Do you know what our father is going to do when he finds out?" she whispered. I shot up, our faces inches apart.

"He won't!" I yelled. She raised an eyebrow. "Ra's Al Ghul will not know. And if he finds out I will know who told him and I will kill you. Do not test me, Nyssa, I am not a person to test. Because if someone hurts my family, I kill them!" I shouted. She stepped back and kneeled down. "What are you doing?" I asked.

"I was told to test your strength, Katerina Al Ghul. You have passed." I felt the helicopter land and I looked out the window at Nanda Parbat. "Welcome to your new home."

She lead me to a huge room. "What is this?" I asked in awe.

"Your room where you sleep, Katerina. I hope you find it comforting. This is your new home. Now leave your things here. You have been requested by Ra's Al Ghul," she explained. I nodded and set my duffle down, following her down countless halls. It took a few minutes, but we had finally reached a huge room. I looked straight ahead and saw a man that I recognize as Ra's. Nyssa kneeled down before him. "I have brought Katerina Al Ghul with me," she told him. I stood there, not kneeling.

"Hello, Katerina," he said. I hardened my glare, clenching my fists at my sides. "How have you been these past 25 years?" he asked. I didn't respond. He nodded and walked over to me. "I hope you're not normally this defiant," he whispered. Suddenly a sword was against my neck. He pushed my chin up with it to look him straight in the eyes.

"Are you going to kill me? Because if so, I could care less. It would get me out of this hell," I hissed. He had a sly smile on his face.

"You chose to come, Katerina."

"I didn't have a choice. You threatened to kill my brother. I put family before anything. Maybe you should try that!" I yelled. He laughed and nodded, pulling the sword away.

"I did put family before anything else. You and your brothers postponed my search for the next Ra's Al Ghul. But now that you're here I can continue my search. But there's one problem with it. I've kept an eye on two people, both of which have proven that they could be Ra's Al Ghul," he explained. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest.

"And who could those two be? Nyssa?" He shook his head.

"You and Oliver Queen." My eyes widened. "I've been watching you two. But when I saw you, Katerina, I knew who you were. You never knew about us until you came in contact with the person who killed Jake. You figured it out with the help of your team. I know why your mother split you up. Why she put you and your half brother with two people who aren't your parents, but the sibling of Clarity Parker's adoptive father and his wife. You were in no way related to those two people. That's why we killed them," he told me. Tears threatened to fall and I clenched my fists harder.

"You killed my parents?" I yelled. He shook his head.

"No. I killed your guardians. Your mother was murdered. She separated you and Clarity Parker so that I could never find both of you and bring you home where you belong. After she became pregnant with you and your sister she bolted. She didn't want this life for you. But what she didn't know is that I sent people out to watch you," he explained to me. Nyssa left the room. "Take a walk with me, Katerina." I reluctantly agreed, wanting answers about my mother. I didn't know her that much. I didn't see her much as it was.

"How did you meet my mother?" I asked softly, playing with my hands. Ra's' hands were behind his back.

"She was in the league. We had you and your twin sister. Except she left while pregnant with you two. It was heartbreaking for me. She took Jake with her, escaping with all of my children except for Nyssa. I got over it. Until I heard of the man in a green hood with a bow and arrows as a weapon. Then he got a sidekick. She wore a purple hood, using the same weapons. And that's when I found out it was you. You look just like your mother, you know. Do you know that?" I shrugged.

"Claire was never one to socialize. She avoided me," I answered. He nodded.

"Claire. So that's the alias she used. Her name was actually Clarity. I guess she named your sister after her." We fell silent as we walked. It was odd.

A month later I woke up to a loud commotion. Nyssa ran in my room. "Katerina, get dressed. We've been called by Ra's Al Ghul. He says he has something important for us," she said before rushing out. I jumped out of bed and got ready in my League gear, catching up with Nyssa. We ran to where Ra's was.

"Why were we called here?" I asked. I looked around the room. My gaze fell on two familiar faces and my eyes widened. "What are you doing here?" I yelled at them. Nyssa was a little shocked herself as she stared at Clarity.

"I-I-" Clarity found no words. I looked to Ra's. He knows.

"She's come to join us, Katerina." My expression hardened as I glared at her.

"Katerina?" She met Oliver's gaze. When I realized that Oliver was actually here, my gaze softened. It was as if he was pleading Clarity not to join. I walked over to Clarity.

"You can still back out, Clarity," I whispered. She threw her arms around me. I tensed up at the gesture that I hadn't felt for a month.

"We promised never to leave each other behind. This is me upholding the promise."

Oliver knocked on the door to my room. I looked up at him. "Why are you here?" I knew the answer.

"You know the answer to that," he said, as if reading my mind. I nodded.

"I do. But did he tell you everything? Did he tell you what would happen if you accepted? Because he told me. I didn't want to believe it, but it was true." Ollie stared at me in confusion. "Ra's had an eye on you and I to become the next Ra's Al Ghul. But he recently came to a compromise."

"Which is?"

"Nyssa has worked hard all her life to become the next Ra's Al Ghul. In order for him to accept that, she would have to marry you. But then he threw in something else. Oliver, you have to choose who to marry. Me or Nyssa. And once you choose, there's no backing out."
