Chapter 9

"You called for me, chief?" I asked, he nodded and I went in his office. It has been a long time since he only called me, for the past 3 weeks it has been with Giyu

"I called for you because I think Giyu shouldn't be your partner" I was confused, I wanted to say something but he shushed me "For now, you two have done great but I want Giyu to meet other people."

I felt conflicted. I agree with Chief Ubayashiki, but I've really liked working with Giyu for these past few weeks, but I nodded

"I think you're right, chief." He seemed surprised, but nodded back "Now tell Giyu that" what he said made me confused "You haven't talked with him yet?"

"Well yes, but I knew he would refuse if I suggested it." I nodded, that would probably be true "Just tell him what I said, that chief wants him to meet others so you won't be partners for a week" I nodded, bowed and left

"Hey Giyu" he looks up from his screen "Chief said that we won't do partner missions this week and you'll be with another partner for now" he nods, while caressing his chin

"That's good, meeting others is good" he smiled before looking back at his screen. I sat down before he looked back at me again "I'll stay here still because it'll only be temporary" I nod

"I wonder who your new partner is" he nods in agreement "There are a lot of good people here, it might be Mitsuri" I laughed, while he smiled a little

"I hope it is Mitsuri or someone good" I trailed off "When will I meet my new partner?" He asked, snapping me off my trance

"Knowing Chief, later or tomorrow" he nods

The day ends and there was still no update on his partner. I was still so curious and it not being revealed killed me.

"Who do you think it is?" I shrugged "Except for Mitsuri, Muichiro, and Gyomei, I don't know much of them. Most of my friends went to other cities"

he nodded until he snapped a look at me, making me confused "Iguro is also one right?" I nodded, I didn't know they met each other because when Iguro left, 2 days after, Giyu arrived

"You two met?" He nodded, I didn't mean when they interacted at the grocery store "he's very mean to me," we laughed

"Your friends are also Kanae's friends right?" I nodded "When Kanae died, I came in a year later meaning most of her friends were still there, thus we became friends" he smiled

The day that we would meet Giyu's partner came. I was so excited, there were also new members this year so I was excited to see if they were the ones too

When Chief Ubayashiki came through the door, I was practically shaking Giyu in excitement. He didn't share the same feelings, he was not as excited. It is not Giyu to show his emotions to the whole world

He came to our desk before gesturing us to stand "This is Giyu's new partner"

I was so excited when I saw a woman with hazel red hair and light brown eyes. She looked nice and seemed nice, she had a nice smile and good posture, she looked amazing

"Hi, I'm Neijiri, nice to meet you both" She said enthusiastically. She shakes both our hands before starting to talk and introduce herself. "I'm new here, I worked at Kobe before, I transferred here to the big city so I can do more" I nodded before sitting down and letting them talk

There was something off though, they were getting along well, too well. I felt their sparks and it made me uncomfortable. A relationship that me and Giyu got after a week or two, they got withing a few minutes. It made me uncomfortable, it made me... Jealous

I stormed off to the bathroom after excusing myself. I shouldn't feel this way, we're just friends. We were great as friends, but why am I jealous that he's getting along well with another woman?
