Chapter 3

12:24, 12 January 2025

Alastair Michelle Dee's POV:

Last week’s Tech Expo in Japan was nothing short of a whirlwind. AMD Corp had a fantastic showcase, and I’m proud of my team’s efforts. But amidst the technological marvels and business meetings, what truly stood out was my unexpected truce with Zaviya Anntonia Porsild.

Zaviya. The name alone brings a flood of memories, starting from our school days when we competed over everything—grades, sports, even who could hold their breath the longest. I can still recall the way her eyes would light up with that mischievous glint whenever she thought she had the upper hand. Over the years, our rivalry only intensified as we both built our empires in the tech world. It was almost a given that wherever I was, Zavi was sure to follow, and vice versa.

Yet, Japan had a different plan for us. What started as another round of snarky comments and lavish displays of superiority soon transformed into something else. At the first night, we found ourselves sharing one room, with one bed. I can't forget how her face contorted whe. She realizes that.

On the second day, we found ourselves sitting side by side during a presentation, and somehow, a simple comment about the presenter’s outdated slides led to shared laughter. That laughter became the bridge to conversations that had nothing to do with competition.

To my surprise, when I suggested  a truce, she agreed. After the third day conference ended, we toured Tokyo together. I was skeptical, curious, and perhaps a hidden desire to see a different side of her during the tour.

We roamed the bustling streets of Shibuya, tasted the best sushi in Tsukiji, and even took silly photos at a Purikura booth. For the first time, we weren’t rivals but just two people enjoying the beauty of Japan.

Through it all, I couldn’t help but admire her more. Yes, Zavi still had her lavish remarks and snarky comments, but beneath that exterior was a mind as sharp as any I’ve ever encountered. Her passion for her work was undeniable, and I found myself drawn to her intelligence and dedication.

There were moments when I caught myself staring at her, noticing the way her eyes sparkled with excitement over a new tech innovation or how her laughter was infectious. She is undeniably beautiful, but it’s her mind and drive that truly captivate me.

As I sit here in my office, reflecting on our time in Japan, I realize that the lines between rivalry and admiration have blurred. Maybe, just maybe, there’s more to our story than competition. But for now, I’ll cherish the memory of our truce and the unexpected bond we formed in the heart of Tokyo. Cause I know for sure that when we cross our paths again, we'll be back to car-dog relationship again.

I remember some of the petty fights that we used to have whenever we crossed paths.

(Flashbacks)

Banter 1: Gala Night

The ballroom in Cebu glittered with opulence, chandeliers casting a warm glow on the impeccably dressed guests. Among them, Alastair Dee spotted her rival-turned-reluctant companion, Zaviya Porsild, standing by the bar.

With her usual confident stride, Alastair approached, drink in hand.

“Fancy meeting you here, Porsild. Looking radiant as always,” Alastair greeted, her tone a mix of charm and teasing.

Zaviya turned, her polished demeanor intact, a small smile gracing her lips. “Flattery will get you nowhere, Dee. But thank you, you clean up nicely yourself.”

Alastair raised the glass slightly, offering it to her. “Can I interest you in a dance later? Or are you too busy planning your next move to indulge in some fun?”

Zaviya accepted the drink, a glimmer of amusement in her eyes. “Oh, I’m always up for a challenge. But a dance wouldn’t hurt, as long as you don’t step on my toes.”

Laughing, Alastair leaned in closer. “I’ll do my best. So, any groundbreaking projects keeping you up at night?”

There was a moment’s hesitation before Zaviya nodded, her expression softening just slightly. “Actually, yes. There’s this idea I’ve been toying with. Could use a second opinion from someone who’s not afraid to be brutally honest.”

“Well, you know where to find me,” Alastair replied with a grin. “Though, I must warn you, my honesty comes with a side of playful sarcasm.”

Zaviya smirked, her guard lowering just a fraction. “Wouldn’t have it any other way, Dee.”

As the music swelled and the night progressed, their banter continued, the rivalry between them gradually revealing a flicker of mutual respect—and perhaps something more.

Scene 2: Conference Clash

The International Business Conference in Manila buzzed with energy. It was the perfect arena for rivals like Alastair and Zaviya to cross paths. Spotting her, Alastair couldn’t resist her usual greeting.

“Hey, Zaviya, looking radiant as ever! Ready to compete again?”

Zaviya barely glanced up from her documents, her tone sharp but not unkind. “As if you ever gave me a break, Alastair. Always riling me up.”

“Well, you know I thrive on our little competitions. Makes life exciting!” Alastair teased, her grin unrelenting.

Zaviya shot her a look. “Exciting? More like exhausting! Pag may rivalry ka kasi, todo effort ka!”

“Hayaan mo na, Zaviya. Maybe one day you’ll enjoy our little banter.”

“Hindi ko yata kaya yung mga pa-cute moves mo, Alastair. Always trying hard,” Zaviya retorted with a smirk, unable to resist jabbing back.

Later, as the conference buzzed with deals being struck, Alastair found her way back to Zaviya’s side, triumphant.

“Guess who just closed the deal with Walker Industries? That’s right, yours truly!”

Zaviya sighed dramatically. “Hay naku, Alastair! Always so proud of yourself. Just wait till I reveal my new project.”

Alastair’s grin widened. “Oh, I can’t wait to see what you’ve cooked up this time, Zaviya. Competitive as ever!”

“Don’t act like you’re not interested, Alastair. I know you live for this rivalry.”

“Well, it does keep things interesting between us, doesn’t it?”

“Interesting? More like infuriating! Pero sige, challenge accepted!”

Scene 3: Annual Tech Summit in Boracay

Under the golden Boracay sun, the Annual Tech Summit unfolded with its usual grandeur. Alastair, spotting Zaviya amidst the crowd, sauntered over.

“Fancy meeting you here, Zaviya. Traveling for business or pleasure?”

Zaviya groaned, not even trying to hide her exasperation. “Ugh, Alastair. Can’t you leave me alone even for a moment?”

“Come on, Zaviya. We both know our little clashes make life less dull,” Alastair said, her tone light and teasing.

Zaviya raised an eyebrow. “Sometimes, I wonder if you know any other way to communicate.”

“Maybe one day, we’ll laugh about all this tension, Zaviya,” Alastair countered with a knowing smirk.

“Ha! You wish, Alastair. But who knows? Stranger things have happened,” Zaviya quipped before turning away, though her lips twitched as if suppressing a smile.

As the Summit drew to a close, Alastair caught up to Zaviya once more.

“Zaviya, wait up! I… I wanted to say congratulations on your latest achievement.”

Zaviya’s response was laced with sarcasm. “Thanks, Alastair. That means a lot coming from you.”

“Oh, come on, Zavi. Can’t handle a little competition?”

“Competition? More like a thorn in my side,” Zaviya retorted, crossing her arms.

“Admit it, you secretly enjoy our little spats,” Alastair teased, her tone playful.

“Please, the only thing I enjoy is proving you wrong,” Zaviya shot back, though there was a glint of amusement in her eyes.

Alastair leaned in slightly, her voice dropping to a softer tone. “You know, Zavi, your insistence on micro-managing every detail is kinda cute.”

“Cute? Really, Alastair? I think the word you’re looking for is competent,” Zaviya corrected, narrowing her eyes.

“Tomato, tomahto,” Alastair quipped. “But seriously, we make a great team when we’re not bickering.”

Zaviya sighed, though her expression softened just slightly. “I suppose so. Doesn’t mean I have to like you.”

And with that, the push and pull of their rivalry continued, a dance they both seemed destined to never stop enjoying.

(end of flashbacks)

Ohhh how it made me smile when Zavi started to crunched her nose and how her beautiful face snorted when I gave her snarky comments. Alam kong gustong-gusto na niya akong sakalin sa sobrang inis.

Tomorrow we'll see each other again in College Businessweek in Ateneo. We're both invited to talk to Business Ads students.

(fastforward)**************

Now Zaviya and Alastair are seeing each other again in the backstage of Ateneo de Manila Auditorium. The room is filled with young aspiring businesswomen and men, eagerly waiting for the speakers. They are both invited to share their experiences. Alastair is in a sleek suit, while Zaviya wears a fashionable dress. The atmosphere is tense whenever they’re together.

The atmosphere was electric as the two stood side by side, ready to take the stage. Alastair adjusted her microphone with the calm confidence of someone who had done this a hundred times before. Zaviya, on the other hand, flipped through her notes, her brows furrowed in annoyance.

Alastair couldn’t resist throwing the first jab. "Mukhang ready ka na naman magpatalo, Zaviya," she said, her smirk as sharp as ever.

Zaviya didn’t even look up, rolling her eyes as if this was just another tiresome interaction. "Huwag ka ngang assuming, Alastair. I came here to inspire, not to compete."

But Alastair, ever the provocateur, leaned in slightly. "Oh, really? Kasi parang palagi kang natatalo sa akin, kahit anong gawin mo."

Zaviya straightened, crossing her arms as if to shield herself from her teasing. "Hindi mo ba alam na may hangganan din ang pagiging hambog, Alastair?"

Her retort only made Alastair laugh. "Basta't ikaw ang kaharap ko, hindi ako magsasawa," she said, her tone playful yet edged with something deeper.

Zaviya let out a long sigh, her patience clearly wearing thin. "I can’t believe we have to do this again. Every single time, Alastair."

Alastair grinned, that lopsided, boyish grin that could disarm anyone—except Zaviya. "Oh come on, Zaviya. Aminin mo, namimiss mo rin yung banters natin. Keeps things interesting, doesn’t it?"

Zaviya shot her a withering look, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Oh, sure. Interesting. Like how a migraine is interesting."

Alastair chuckled, undeterred. "You know, you’re cute when you’re mad."

That comment made Zaviya blush, but she quickly masked it with annoyance. "Don’t start, Alastair. Just because we’re here doesn’t mean I have to put up with you."

Alastair stepped closer, her voice dropping to a teasing softness. "But you always do. Siguro may reason behind it?"

Zaviya squared her shoulders, trying to remain composed. "Yeah, it’s called professionalism. Unlike you, I can handle being around someone I don’t like."

Alastair’s smile softened, her gaze steady. "Who said I don’t like you?"

Zaviya’s eyes widened, caught off guard by her sudden sincerity. For a brief moment, the air between them shifted. They stared at each other, the banter fading into a charged silence.

The tension was broken when the host called them to the stage. They snapped out of their moment, their competitive facades snapping back into place as they walked to their respective podiums.

"Ladies and gentlemen," the host announced with enthusiasm, "let’s welcome our esteemed speakers, Alastair Michelle Dee of AMD Corp and Zaviya Anntonia Porsild of Zavitech Industry!"

The applause was thunderous. Alastair flashed a dazzling smile at the audience, while Zaviya rolled her eyes before stepping up to her podium.

"Good afternoon, everyone!" Alastair began, her voice warm and commanding. "I’m thrilled to be here to share my journey in the tech industry. It’s been a challenging but rewarding experience."

Zaviya smirked, her tone cool and cutting. "And I’m here to give you a more realistic view of what it takes to succeed, beyond just being overconfident."

The audience chuckled, clearly entertained by their dynamic. Alastair narrowed her eyes at Zaviya, who met her gaze with a triumphant arch of her brow.

"Well, Zaviya," she said with mock seriousness, "some of us have the talent to match our confidence."

"Oh, really?" she shot back, her voice like silk laced with steel. "Is that what you call it? I thought it was just plain arrogance."

The audience buzzed with amusement and intrigue, caught in the crossfire of their verbal sparring. And yet, despite the tension—and perhaps because of it—there was an undeniable chemistry between them.

A few moments later, on stage, both are now speaking to the students in a serious manner. Alastair speaks first.

Alastair stands, scan the crowd seriously and looking beautifully handsome with her gray pant suit. "Hello everyone! How are you?  Once again, I am Alastair Michelle Dee, CEO of AMD CORP. Today, I stand before you not just as a businesswoman, but as someone who once sat where you are now, filled with dreams and aspirations. When I started my journey, I had the option to lean on my parents' success, but I chose a different path. I wanted to build something of my own, driven by my passion for technology and innovation. I worked multiple jobs, saved every penny, and poured my heart into my vision. It wasn't easy, but with determination and a relentless pursuit of my dreams, I turned those early struggles into stepping stones. Remember, success isn't handed to you; it's earned through hard work, perseverance, and staying true to your passion. Dream big, work hard, and never let anyone tell you that you can't achieve what you set your mind to. Your journey starts now, and the possibilities are endless."

Next to her inspiring speech is Zaviya.

Zaviya is smiling beautifully at the students." Good morning, future innovators and leaders! It’s an honor to stand before you today at Ateneo de Manila University, a place brimming with talent and potential. As the CEO of Zavitech Industry, I’ve learned that success in business isn’t just about having the best ideas, but about resilience, adaptability, and the courage to take risks. Remember, every setback is a setup for a comeback. Embrace challenges as opportunities to innovate and grow. Surround yourselves with people who inspire and challenge you, and never underestimate the power of collaboration. Dream big, but be ready to work hard and stay humble. Your journey won't always be easy, but with passion, determination, and a clear vision, you can create a future that not only transforms industries but also uplifts communities. Believe in your ability to make a difference, and go out there and make it happen!"

The students are all amazed as how good of a speaker they are. As they spoke about their journeys, their successes, and their visions for the future, the crowd couldn’t help but hang on to every word.

Later, during the networking session, the two were surrounded by students eager to ask questions.

"Miss Alastair," one student began nervously, "paano po kayo nagstart sa tech industry?"

Alastair grinned, her eyes glinting with mischief. "I was always curious about how things work. Kaya naman, I studied hard and took every opportunity to learn. But it helps if you have a rival to keep you on your toes." She winked at Zaviya, earning a few chuckles from the group.

Another student turned to Zaviya. "Miss Zaviya, ano po ang pinakamalaking challenge na na-encounter niyo?"

Zaviya’s smile was confident, her eyes flicking briefly to Alastair. "The biggest challenge is always about staying true to your vision, lalo na kapag may mga taong laging bumabara sa'yo. But it makes you stronger."

Their rivalry, though sharp, was laced with a grudging respect that neither could fully admit to. It was this paradox that made their interactions so compelling, drawing everyone into their orbit.

The crowd buzzed with excitement as Alastair and Zaviya stood side by side, their usual tension filling the air like static electricity. Zaviya shot a sharp glare in Alastair's direction, her eyes blazing with irritation. But Alastair, ever unbothered, merely laughed it off, his confident grin as infuriating as ever.

Their silent standoff was interrupted when a student approached them with an eager smile, clutching a phone tightly.

"Excuse me," the student said, almost breathless. "Can I take a picture with both of you? I’m a huge fan!"

Without missing a beat, Alastair and Zaviya replied in perfect unison, “Of course!”

The two of them posed for the picture, their smiles dazzling and competitive, as if the camera would determine who shone brighter. Even in such a simple act, they couldn’t resist turning it into a silent battle for superiority. The student, oblivious to the undercurrent of rivalry, beamed with joy before disappearing into the crowd, leaving the two alone once more.

For a moment, an unusual calm settled between them. Alastair broke the silence first, her tone uncharacteristically soft. “You know, Zaviya, despite everything, I do respect you. You’re one of the few people who can keep up with me.”

Zaviya, caught off guard, let out a small sigh. “Same here, Alastair. But that doesn’t mean I’ll let you win.”

Alastair’s lips curled into her signature smirk, the one that always made Zaviya’s blood boil. “Wouldn’t expect anything less,” she replied.

The evening progressed, the main event transitioning into a lively after-party. The bar became a magnet for attendees looking to unwind, and, unsurprisingly, Alastair and Zaviya found themselves there, drinks in hand and still locked in their perpetual battle of wits.

“So,” Alastair began, leaning casually against the counter. “Who’s the bigger deal tonight? You or me?”

Zaviya’s smirk mirrored hers, her confidence unshaken. “Oh, definitely me,” she quipped. “I don’t need to remind everyone about my achievements every five minutes.”

Alastair let out a hearty laugh, tipping her glass toward Zaviya in mock surrender. “Touché,” she admitted. “But let’s face it, we make one hell of a team when we’re not at each other’s throats.”

Zaviya considered Alastair's words for a moment before raising her glass with a sly grin. “Here’s to being the best... in our own ways.”

"Alam mo, Zaviya," Alastair said, her voice low and teasing, "you never change. Still the same since elementary."

"And you’re still as irritating as ever," Zaviya shot back, though there was a softness in her tone now.

They clinked glasses, a silent truce passing between them. For all their differences, and despite their constant bickering, there was something undeniable about the connection they shared—a connection that neither was quite ready to name.

And as the night went on, it became clear to everyone around them: this rivalry was far from over. In fact, it might just be the beginning of something much more complicated—and much more beautiful.

*******************A few weeks later, Zaviya found herself stepping out of the rented SUV, greeted by the salty breeze and the lively chatter of her friends. She sighed, her gaze reluctantly taking in the idyllic beauty of El Nido, Palawan—a weekend getaway she had been practically dragged into by Oliana, Khali, Yevhen, Violet, Cass, and Reika. The sun cast its warm glow over the brilliant blue sea, creating a picture-perfect paradise. Yet, Zaviya’s mood remained unshaken, her reluctance as vivid as the colors of their tropical backdrop.

Oliana’s voice broke through her thoughts, brimming with excitement. “Zavi, look at this place! It’s like paradise!”

Zaviya let out another sigh, her arms crossed. “Yeah, yeah. Let’s just make the most of it.”

Yevhen nudged her playfully. “Zavi, come on! This is supposed to be a fun getaway!”

Khali chimed in, her tone light yet firm. “Sige na, Zavi. Enjoy lang natin 'to. You need to unwind sometimes. Masyado ka na kasing nabubusy sa pakikipag-compete kay Alastair.”

Violet laughed, the sound teasing and carefree. “Ang init ng ulo mo agad, Zavi! Relax lang, andito tayo para mag-enjoy.”

Despite their encouragement, Zaviya’s frustration lingered. “Ugh, I know. But alam niyo naman na I hate being away from work for too long,” she retorted.

Cass, ever the voice of reason, placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. “That’s why you need this vacation! Just enjoy the view and our company.”

Their laughter and banter filled the air as they made their way to the beachfront cabin assigned to them. The scenery was nothing short of breathtaking—turquoise waters stretching endlessly, kissed by lush greenery that framed their slice of paradise.

Oliana’s enthusiasm was uncontainable as she exclaimed, “Grabe, ang ganda dito, Zavi! I told you this trip would be worth it.”

With an eye-roll that seemed almost habitual, Zaviya conceded, “Oo na, fine. Pero sana walang mangyaring stressful ha? I need to relax.”

Their laughter echoed once more, the camaraderie already easing some of Zaviya’s tension. Together, they began unpacking, their voices mingling with the soft rush of the waves outside.

That first day set the tone for their adventure. They explored the beach under the sun’s golden gaze and later found themselves reveling in the lively atmosphere of a local bar. For a brief moment, even Zaviya seemed to forget her worries, surrendering to the carefree rhythm of the island life.

On the second day of their vacation, the serenity of the beach was interrupted by the arrival of Alastair and her ever-energetic squad—Klaud, Cadence, Gaios, Roux, Orion, and Zyair. The sun was already blazing high in the sky, its warmth matched only by the exuberance of her friends.

Klaud, ever the mood maker, couldn’t resist poking at Alastair's stoic demeanor. "Alastair, you need this break. Just relax and enjoy," she said with a grin, her tone half-teasing but wholly sincere.

Alastair, with her trademark grumble, muttered, "I’d rather be in a boardroom than on a beach."

Cadence, not one to let her friend wallow in her reluctance, placed her hands firmly on Alastair’s shoulders, her voice both reassuring and insistent. "Dude, hindi ka makakatakas this time. Mag-relax ka na lang."

Seeing no way out, Alastair surrendered, albeit reluctantly. "Fine, fine. But don't expect me to stay put," she conceded, though her tone carried a note of defiance.

Roux’s eyes scanned the picturesque scenery, he4 amazement evident. "Astig dito, Alastair! This is exactly what you need to unwind," he said with genuine enthusiasm.

Alastair smirked, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Yeah, sure. As long as walang makakainis sakin dito," she shot back, eliciting laughter from her squad as they made their way to their cabin.

Unbeknownst to Alastair, fate—or perhaps the universe’s sense of humor—had placed their cabin right next to Zaviya’s.

Just a few feet away, Zaviya and her friends were basking in the sun, the waves providing a soothing soundtrack to their chatter.

"Ang saya talaga dito! Perfect getaway!" Oliana stretched, the epitome of relaxation.

Zaviya, ever the cynic, sighed. "Oo na, sige na. Pero sana wala akong makitang sakit sa mata dito," she murmured, her words laced with her usual sass.

Reika tilted her head in confusion. "Sakit sa mata? Sino?"

As if on cue, Alastair and her squad strolled by, their laughter cutting through the peaceful atmosphere. When their eyes met, the air instantly shifted, a palpable tension settling between the two groups.

Zaviya groaned, muttering to herself, "Oh great, andito na naman si Alastair."

Alastair, catching the words, couldn’t resist a smirk. "What a surprise. Akala ko relaxing trip ‘to, pero mukhang may dagdag stress factor," she whispered to herself, amusement playing on her lips.

And then came the realization—both groups were neighbors for the duration of this trip.

Alastair, ever the provocateur, broke the silence with her playful drawl. "Well, well, well. Look who decided to crash my vacation."

Zaviya, rolling her eyes with dramatic flair, shot back, "As if I’d come here just to see your annoying face, Alastair. Tsaka haler, we came here first, kayo ang party crasher."

Alastair’s smirk widened, her tone dripping with mockery. "Whatever suits you, princess. Hmm, missed me that much, huh?"

"In your dreams, Dee," Zaviya countered, her eyes narrowing in a mix of irritation and reluctant amusement.

Their friends, well-versed in the dynamic between the two, couldn’t help but find the situation highly entertaining.

Yevhen, always the peacekeeper, grinned from ear to ear. "Guys, since we're all here, why don't we hang out together?"

Orion laughed, her excitement evident. "Great idea! Let's start with some water activities."

As the group dove headfirst into the day’s adventures—paddleboarding, kayaking, and the occasional water fight—Alastair found herself thriving in the very chaos she claimed to dislike.

Between the azure waves and the infectious laughter of mutual friends, Alastair couldn’t resist leaning into her role as Zaviya’s perennial irritant. "Ah, Zavi, always a pleasure to see you squirm," she teased, her tone light but loaded with their shared history.

Zaviya rolled her eyes, a playful scowl settling on her face. "Oh, spare me, Alastair. You’re just here to make a scene as usual," she retorted, her sharp tongue as familiar as it was endearing.

To the delight of their friends, every activity seemed designed to pair Alastair and Zaviya together. Whether it was paddling a tandem kayak or strategizing during a spirited game of beach volleyball, the universe seemed intent on turning their rivalry into the highlight of the trip. From the moment they stepped onto the sand, it was clear that no matter how hard they tried to avoid it, their friends had other plans.

Their first adventure led them to the calm waters of a nearby reef. Snorkeling was a peaceful activity, one that might have been perfect for any other couple. But for Alastair and Zaviya, it only magnified the playful tension between them.

“Bakit kailangan pa talagang tayo mag-partner?” Zaviya grumbled, adjusting her mask as she eyed Alastair warily.

Alastair, ever the carefree spirit, flashed her a grin. “Para masaya! Look, may turtle!” she said, pointing to a turtle gliding peacefully below them.

Zaviya rolled her eyes but couldn’t help the slight smile tugging at her lips. “Don’t think I’ll go easy on you just because we’re underwater,” she muttered, already planning her strategy for keeping up.

Alastair chuckled, swimming in playful circles around her. “Wouldn’t expect anything less,” she replied, making sure to keep her on her toes.

The water sparkled beneath them, but the real challenge was in the moments of teasing and playful rivalry that filled the quiet sea around them.

Later, they found themselves at the edge of a cliff, looking down at the crystal-clear water far below. Cliff diving was next on the itinerary, and despite the excitement of the group, Zaviya felt the flutter of nerves in her stomach.

“I can't believe I'm doing this,” she muttered, a little breathless, as she glanced down at the steep drop.

Alastair’s eyes sparkled with mischief as she teased, “Don’t worry, I’ll catch you if you fall.”

“As if I’d trust you!” Zaviya snapped back, though she could feel the apprehension in her own voice.

Alastair laughed, clearly enjoying the moment. “Always so feisty.”

She narrowed her eyes, her fingers gripping the edge. “Are you sure about this?” she asked, a nervous laugh escaping her.

Alastair leaned in, her teasing tone never wavering. “What’s the matter now, scared? You can hold my hand if you want.”

Zaviya shot her a glare that would have stopped a lesser man in his tracks. “In your dreams!”

Together, they jumped, the scream that left their throats quickly turning into laughter as they plunged into the cool water below.

If cliff diving had made them closer, then parasailing was the activity that would test their limits. Strapped in, they took off, soaring high above the turquoise waters. Alastair, ever the daring adventurer, looked over at Zaviya with a wide grin.

“Ready for the ride of your life?” she called, her voice barely audible over the wind.

Zaviya rolled her eyes, gripping the harness tightly. “Just don’t let go,” she muttered, hoping the view would distract her from the height.

She held on even tighter, her grip white-knuckled. “If we crash, it’s your fault.”

Alastair simply smiled, enjoying her determination. “Just enjoy the view, Zavi,” she teased.

Zaviya scowled, muttering under her breath, “I hate you.”

Alastair’s laughter rang out above the wind. “I know.”

Despite her grumbling, the beauty of the ocean below and the thrill of the ride started to make her smile, though she’d never admit it aloud.

The final activity of the day, jet skiing, was bound to be the most thrilling of all. Zaviya, now a little exhausted from the day’s events, gritted her teeth as she climbed onto the back of the jet ski.

“Don’t you dare throw me off!” she warned Alastair, who was grinning from ear to ear.

Alastair’s grin only grew wider. “Hold on tight then!” she shouted over the roar of the engine.

The waves crashed around them as they sped across the water, laughter and shouts mixing with the hum of the engine. Zaviya’s fears of being thrown off were quickly replaced with exhilaration as they raced through the sea, her annoyance with Alastair temporarily forgotten.

After the chaos of the day, they returned to the shore, where their friends were waiting for them, all too eager to comment on the day’s events.

“Bakit ba laging kami ni Alastair ang magkasama?” Zaviya muttered, still catching her breath.

Alastair, always ready with a teasing response, grinned at her. “Oh, come on, Zavi. Hindi mo ba na-eenjoy ang company ko?”

Zaviya shot her a glare that could have frozen fire, but Alastair, unbothered, laughed it off. “Looks like they're determined to keep us in each other’s company, Zavi. Maybe they’re onto something,” he teased.

Zaviya rolled her eyes, clearly not in the mood for any more of his jokes. “If they think this will make us friends, they’re sorely mistaken,” she muttered, though a hint of a smile tugged at her lips as she turned away.

Throughout the day, from snorkeling through vibrant coral reefs to daring cliff dives into crystalline waters, their friends orchestrated activities that often paired Alastair and Zaviya together. Alastair took each challenge in stride, laughing off Zaviya’s contrary nature, while Zaviya found herself reluctantly drawn into the whirlwind of banter, slowly realizing that, maybe, just maybe, these shared moments weren’t so bad after all.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the beach, the group gathered around a crackling bonfire. Laughter echoed into the night as bottles passed and stories flowed. They were singing and drinking, the atmosphere relaxed and cheerful, with a carefree vibe filling the air. The night was young, and the warmth of friendship and fun seemed to stretch endlessly.

Khali, ever the instigator, leaned in with a mischievous grin. “Let’s play Truth or Dare!” she suggested, her voice full of excitement.

Yevhen, never one to turn down a challenge, grinned back. “Let’s go, it will be fun.”

The group eagerly agreed, and so the game began. The laughter continued, though it quickly became clear that the brunt of the dares seemed to fall on two particular people—Zaviya and Alastair. The group’s playful energy ramped up as the dares grew bolder, especially the ones aimed at the two rivals.

The first dare was an unexpected one, coming from Klaud. “Alastair, your turn. Truth or dare?” she asked, a sly smile tugging at her lips.

“Dare, of course,” Alastair replied confidently, her tone playful.

Oliana, ever the one to stir the pot, smirked. “Alastair, give Zaviya a sexy dance.”

“No way!” Zaviya protested immediately, shaking her head as she held up her hands in mock surrender. “I object!”

But the others were relentless, chanting in unison. “Come on, Zavi! It’s just for fun.”

With a grin, Alastair stood up and, to everyone’s delight, performed a playful and exaggerated dance. It started out as a silly attempt, but soon, as the music picked up, her movements became surprisingly sultry. Zaviya couldn’t help but blush at the unexpected show, while the others cheered and laughed, clearly enjoying the spectacle.

Zyair couldn’t resist making a cheeky comment. “Potek na paghagod yan, Alastair. Puputok ang matres ng mga sasayawan mo ng ganan huy.”

Klaud joined in, her voice filled with laughter. “Pwede ng macho dancer e. Haha.”

Next, it was Zaviya’s turn to face a dare. Violet, with an innocent smile, asked, “Zaviya, truth or dare?”

“Sighing” in mock resignation, Zaviya answered, “Dare.”

Cass, grinning wickedly, issued the challenge. “I dare you to do five body shots on Alastair.”

The others were quick to chant, “Body shots, body shots!” as they egged Zaviya on.

Zaviya sighed dramatically. “This is ridiculous... Fine, but don’t enjoy it too much.”

Alastair, ever the sport, simply said, “Just do it. It’ll be fun.”

With a reluctant but determined nod, Zaviya took the shots, and though the moment was playful, there was an undeniable tension in the air between the two of them. The chemistry that had always simmered between them seemed to spark brighter in these small, seemingly insignificant moments.

Then, Roux decided to switch things up. “Okay, since I’m the one making decisions now, let’s make this interesting. Truth for you both,” she announced, smirking. “Describe your first date, if you weren’t rivals.”

Both Alastair and Zaviya hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to approach the question. But eventually, they indulged in the game and surprised everyone with their responses, describing a surprisingly romantic scenario.

Alastair spoke first, her voice uncharacteristically sincere. “Dinner by the beach, a walk under the stars, deep conversations.”

Zaviya, in a softer tone, added, “Maybe a dance under the moonlight.”

Alastair’s grin returned as she teased, “Dancing after dinner, sounds perfect.”

Zaviya, unable to resist her usual sarcasm, shot back, “In your dreams.”

Alastair laughed, her eyes gleaming with mischief. “We’ll see, princess.”

Their friends couldn’t help but “aww” in unison, the atmosphere thick with teasing but also with a hint of something more. It was subtle, but noticeable—a shift in their dynamic, one that made everyone pause for just a moment, wondering if there was more to the two than met the eye.

The next dare was a little more intimate. Yevhen, with a grin that suggested she’d been waiting for this moment, said, “Alright, dare for you both, wala ng tanong-tanong pa haha.”

Oliana followed up with a mischievous smile. “Alright, I dare you tooooooooo, hug each other for five minutes.”

Reika chimed in with a teasing tone. “Five minutes, guys. No escaping.”

Zaviya immediately protested, “No way!”

But Alastair just smiled and shrugged. “Come here, Zavi.”

Reluctantly, Zaviya stepped into the embrace, and as they hugged, there was a palpable tension that neither of them could ignore. The group watched, sensing the unusual shift in the air between the two.

Cass, ever the romantic, couldn’t help herself. “Aww, they look so cute!”

Yevhen, with a knowing grin, added, “Bet they’ll be best friends by the end of this trip.”

Violet, ever the flirt, chimed in with a wink. “Or more than friends.”

Gaios, in a quieter voice, leaned over to Klaud and whispered, “They’re perfect for each other.”

As the five minutes passed, Zaviya pulled away first, her voice firm but with an underlying softness. “This doesn’t change anything.”

Alastair smiled, clearly enjoying the moment. “Sure, Zavi. Keep telling yourself that. But admit it,  you enjoyed today.”

Zaviya smiled back, her lips curling into a mischievous grin. “Maybe. But don’t get used to it.”

Alastair laughed, her voice filled with warmth. “We’ll see about that.”

As the night wound down, the group continued their playful banter, and despite their rivalry, there was now an understanding between Alastair and Zaviya—something that neither of them had expected, but both seemed to secretly welcome.

Zaviya, her voice light but teasing, couldn’t resist the final jab. “Alam mo, Alastair, you’re still the same annoying person since elementary.”

Alastair grinned, always ready for a comeback. “And you, Zaviya, are still as beautiful and easily irritated as ever.”

Zaviya smiled softly, a rare moment of sincerity breaking through her usual defenses. “Maybe this weekend isn’t so bad after all.”

Alastair’s tone softened, and for the first time that night, her words held a quiet honesty. “Agreed. Maybe rivals can be something more.”

Zaviya nodded, though she quickly regained her usual playful tone. “Goodnight, everyone. Salamat sa fun.”

Alastair, ever the tease, shot her a playful look. “Night, Zavi. Try not to dream about me too much.”

Zaviya’s response was as sharp as always. “In your dreams, Alastair.”

Alastair’s smirk never wavered as she shot back, “Every night, Zavi.”

With that, they walked back to their cabins, the rivalry between them still very much alive, but now mixed with something more tender, more promising. It was a strange, unspoken understanding—one that neither Alastair nor Zaviya could yet name, but both felt in the air as the night came to a close.

It was early morning at El Nido, Palawan, where the sky was painted with the soft hues of pink and orange as the sun began to rise, casting a gentle glow over the beach. The waves lapped at the shore, adding a serene rhythm to the tranquil morning. Amidst the calmness, Zaviya walked along the shoreline, her sundress fluttering with the breeze. She glanced around and saw Alastair, already seated on the sand, his eyes fixed on the horizon, seemingly lost in thought.

"Great," Zaviya muttered to herself under her breath, her tone tinged with mild frustration. "Siya pa talaga ang unang nakita ko."

Alastair, ever perceptive even without turning her head, responded in her usual laid-back manner, "Good morning, Zaviya. Ang aga mo ata ngayon."

Zaviya, feeling a bit put off by her nonchalance, sighed as she sat down beside Alastair. "Hindi ako maka-tulog. Ikaw, anong ginagawa mo dito?"

Alastair smirked, turning her gaze back to the horizon. "Watching the sunrise, obviously. Minsan kasi kailangan natin ng konting peace and quiet, di ba?"

Zaviya couldn't help but roll her eyes, her irritation bubbling up once more. "With you around? Peace and quiet? Fat chance."

The smirk on Alastair’s face grew wider. "Aww, na-miss mo lang ako."

Zaviya scoffed in mock disbelief, shaking her head. "In your dreams. Huwag kang epal, Alastair. Ang aga-aga, nakakainis ka na."

"Ikaw rin, Zaviya," Alastair chuckled, clearly enjoying the banter. "Always a delight to see you irritated."

Despite the playful bickering, there was an undeniable sense of familiarity between them—an ongoing rivalry that had existed for as long as either of them could remember. Their teasing continued in a comfortable rhythm, one that spoke volumes of years of shared history.

After a while, their lighthearted banter began to settle, and they joined the rest of the group at a local restaurant for breakfast. The vibrant chatter of their friends filled the air, blending harmoniously with the warm atmosphere of the morning.

Oliana looked around, clearly impressed by the surroundings. "Ang ganda ng lugar na ‘to! Ano kayang specialty nila?"

Klaud, always eager to explore local offerings, chimed in. "Narinig ko masarap daw ang seafood dito."

Alastair, unable to resist her favorite pastime of teasing Zaviya, flashed her a mischievous grin. "Gusto mo ng recommendation? Baka mapahiya ka na naman sa order mo."

Zaviya raised an eyebrow, her irritation flaring once again. "I can handle my own orders, thank you very much. Can we just eat without interruptions?" She directed a pointed look at Alastair, her annoyance palpable.

Alastair, unfazed, shot back with a grin. "As you wish, your highness."

Yevhen, who had been watching the back-and-forth with a knowing smile, laughed. "Here we go again."

Klaud suggested the next adventure. "Island hopping tayo after this, guys!"

Cass, her excitement evident, agreed enthusiastically. "Game ako diyan! Excited na akong makita ang mga isla."

The group finished their breakfast, the banter naturally flowing into excited chatter about the day ahead. Afterward, they all boarded a boat for their island-hopping adventure. As they sailed across the clear waters, Zaviya leaned back, glancing around at the breathtaking surroundings. Still, Alastair's presence beside her was impossible to ignore.

"Sana lang hindi tayo magkaproblema sa pag-island hopping mamaya," Zaviya said, her voice a mix of caution and curiosity.

Alastair, always ready to inject a bit of humor into the moment, leaned closer and teased, "Don’t worry, I’ll protect you at all cost. Kita mo ang mga muscles ko na to."

Zaviya shot her a glare, clearly irritated. "I don't care and I'm not talking to you, Alastair." Then, in a more exasperated tone, she asked, "Bakit ka ba laging nakabuntot sa akin, Alastair?"

With a playful twinkle in her eye, Alastair teased back. "Hindi kita binubuntutan, Zaviya. Nagkakataon lang na ito na lang ang pwesto sa boat. Saan ako uupo? Alangan naman kalungin kita e di lalo ka nagalit dyan."

Zaviya, utterly done with her teasing, groaned. "Arghhh, whatever!"

Not missing a beat, Alastair tapped her shoulder and remarked, "Nice view, don’t you think?"

Zaviya, keeping her focus on the scenery, responded dryly, "Yeah, if only I didn’t have to share it with you."

With a grin that never seemed to leave her face, Alastair teased once more, "Aww, admit it, you love my company."

Zaviya rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. "Keep on wishing, Alas."

The familiar, playful tension between them filled the air once again, as they both settled into the unspoken understanding that no matter how much they bickered, there was always an undeniable bond, and maybe, just maybe, they enjoyed each other's company more than either would admit.

The group had arrived at an island that promised adventure and excitement, and they wasted no time in diving into the day’s activities. They wandered through a souvenir shop, each picking out little treasures to remind them of the tropical paradise they had found themselves in. Amidst the casual browsing and laughter, something caught Reika's eye—a photobooth tucked away in the corner.

"Uy, may photobooth dito! Tara, group picture!" Reika exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement.

Gaios  jumped in, her suggestion light-hearted but firm: "Tara, Alastair and Zaviya, mag-picture kayo!"

Zaviya, who was not one to take things too lightly, immediately protested, "No way! Ayoko."

But Roux, ever the peacemaker with a playful streak, added, "Sige na, just for fun!" And so, despite her reluctance, Zaviya was swept into the idea. They're both squeezed into the booth, ready to capture memories, even if it meant pushing their boundaries just a little.

The camera flashed five times, each snapshot capturing a mix of expressions—some reluctant, some full of mischief. In the first shot, Zaviya’s face was contorted in annoyance, while Alastair flashed a grin that could rival the sun itself. In the second shot, they both let loose with ridiculous faces, showing a side of themselves neither was often seen to reveal. The third shot saw Zaviya sticking out her tongue at Alastair, who responded with a wink, making the whole moment more playful than either had expected. The fourth shot, however, was a bit more reserved—Zaviya smiling reluctantly, while Alastair pretended to be serious, giving a rare moment of calm in the whirlwind of their interactions. But it was the final shot that took the group by surprise—Alastair, ever the jokester, leaned in and planted a quick kiss on Zaviya’s cheek. Zaviya’s shock was palpable as her cheeks flushed a deep red.

"Anong ginagawa mo?!" Zaviya exclaimed, her voice a mixture of surprise and irritation.

Alastair, chuckling at her reaction, simply replied, "Just making memories."

With a quick, sharp punch to Alastair's stomach, Zaviya responded, "Alastair!"

But Alastair only laughed heartily, thoroughly entertained by the chaos she had created. "Worth it!" she shouted, clearly pleased with the outcome of their impromptu photo session.

The fun didn’t end there. Alastair and her squad, in the mood for something more active, decided to hit the waves and surf the island’s famed beaches. Meanwhile, Zaviya and her friends opted to relax, lounging on beach chairs, trying to catch the sun’s warm rays while chatting casually.

Their peaceful moment was interrupted, however, when a group of handsome men approached them. They were confident, maybe a little too confident, as they made their intentions clear.

"Hi gorgeous ladies, can we join you?" one of the men asked, flashing a smile that was more suggestive than friendly.

Violet responded with a polite but firm refusal, "Uhm, sorry but we're just relaxing here."

The men, undeterred, persisted. "Come on, let’s hang out. Maybe later we can go to the bar together?" another one suggested.

Cass, who was clearly unimpressed, simply shook her head, "I don’t think so."

Reika, who had had enough of their advances, added, "Can you please leave us alone?"

Despite their objections, the men continued to get too close for comfort. Zaviya, growing increasingly irritated and uncomfortable, finally snapped, "Arghh stop. What are you guys doing? Leave now please!"

The girls' discomfort was clear as the men pushed their boundaries. Seeing the tension escalate, Zyair noticed the commotion and quickly signaled to her squad. "Guys, I think the girls are in trouble. Let's help them out."

Alastair and her friends wasted no time, stepping in between the men and the girls. A heated exchange began, but Alastair stood tall, her voice filled with authority as she stepped between Zaviya and one of the men. "Back off. Hindi sila interesado," she warned.

The man, clearly not backing down, challenged her, "And what if we don't?"

Gaios, clearly irritated by the men’s persistence, joined in with a dangerous calm, "We could crash some bones, don’t you think guys?"

Cadence, always ready to take action, cracked her knuckles and said, "I’m in, do you want to settle this with a fist fight?"

The second man, sensing the situation was about to escalate into violence, attempted to calm things down with an offer. "Let’s settle this in a non-violent way. How about a game of beach volleyball? If you win, we’ll leave this island and never bother the girls again. If we win, you leave them with us."

Roux, not one to back down from a challenge, scoffed, "Aba't mga gagong to ahh. Suntukan na lang kasi, aangas e."

Klaud, always protective, added, "I want to crash them, they dared to touch Khali's hand, e ako nga di ko pa man lang nahahawakan yon. Nayayamot ako sa mga kupal na yan."

Alastair, sensing Zaviya’s anxiety and fear, hesitated for a moment, but then gave a confident nod. "Hayst, Guys relax, we can win this. Ilampaso natin ang mga yan. Game on! Make sure that you have one word dahil kung hindi magkakagulo tayo dito."

The men agreed, and soon enough, the volleyball court was set up. The crowd, curious about the spectacle, quickly gathered around to watch. The tension was thick in the air, but Alastair’s confidence, bolstered by the loyalty of her squad, was contagious.

One of the men, still arrogant despite the odds against them, sneered, "Prepare to lose."

Zaviya, who had been quietly watching the scene unfold, leaned in close to Alastair, her voice barely above a whisper. "You better win this. I don't want to be with them."

Alastair smiled, her usual mischievous grin returning. "For you, I'll make sure we win."

The sun shines brightly on the white sand beach of El Nido, casting a warm, golden glow over the tranquil landscape. The turquoise waves gently crash against the shore, their rhythm calming despite the buzz of anticipation in the air. A crowd has gathered around the volleyball net, ready for an intense match that promises both drama and excitement.

As the players prepare, Orion stretches, her confidence infectious.

"Kaya natin 'to, guys. Let's show them what we've got." her voice carries across the court, a reminder of the team's resolve.

Alastair takes a moment to gather her thoughts before speaking. "Remember, if we win, they'll leave the girls alone. Let's do this for them."

Gaios nods in agreement, her eyes scanning the opposition. "Game face on, team."

The referee blows the whistle, signaling the start of the game, and the ball is served. The match begins with a fierce exchange of volleys, each team showcasing incredible skill, diving and spiking with pinpoint accuracy. The crowd is on edge, cheering loudly with every move.

As the game heats up, Cadence takes to the air, launching herself into a jump and delivering a powerful spike. "Take that!" she calls out, her competitive spirit evident in her every move.

But the opposing team isn't to be outdone. They block the ball and return it with force, the intensity of the match only escalating as the score climbs steadily.

Panting, Roux wipes the sweat from her brow, her focus unwavering. "They're good. We need to step up our game."

Zyair looks at her teammates, her voice determined. "Let's push harder. We can't lose now."

On the sidelines, the girls watch nervously, their whispers mingling with the sound of the waves.

Yevhen, her voice laced with worry, calls out, "Come on, Cadence. You can do it."

Violet, equally anxious, cheers on her teammate. "Roux, don’t let them win!"

The score is now tied at 20-20, and both teams are drenched in sweat. Every player is locked in, eyes fixed on the ball as they battle not just for victory, but for their pride.

Alastair, ever the strategist, calls out, "Klaud, set it up!"

Klaud, already in position, responds without hesitation, "On it!"

With a powerful leap, Alastair sends the ball soaring into the air, her form perfect as she spikes the ball with immense force. It slams into the face of one of the opponents, causing him to stumble in surprise.

"Ahhh!" he cries out, losing his focus as the ball bounces away, landing on the opponent’s side of the court. The referee blows the whistle, signaling the end of the match.

"Game over! Alastair's team wins!" The referee announces, and the crowd erupts into cheers, their excitement palpable as they rush toward the court to congratulate the victorious team.

Yevhen sprints towards Cadence, wrapping her in a tight hug. "You were amazing, Cadence!"

Violet follows suit, throwing her arms around Roux. "Roux, ang galing mo!"

Reika hugs Zyair, a beaming smile on her face. "Thank you, Zyair!"

Oliana jumps into Gaios' arms, her excitement spilling over. "We knew you could do it!"

Khali embraces Klaud, her gratitude evident. "You saved us, Klaud!"

And then, Zaviya steps forward, her face softening as she approaches Alastair. The usual rivalry that defined their relationship seems to momentarily fade, replaced by a quiet sincerity. "Salamat, Alastair. You were incredible."

For a brief moment, Alastair and Zaviya share a lingering look, a rare break from their usual banter.

Zaviya, with a smile that edges on teasing, finally speaks. "I guess you can be more than just a rival sometimes."

Alastair grins, her competitive edge returning. "Don’t get used to it. Next time, it’s back to our usual rivalry."

The group laughs, the tension from the match melting away as they celebrate their hard-earned victory. The defeated men, now humbled, leave the island, their spirits deflated. Meanwhile, the sun begins to set, casting a golden glow over the beach, a perfect backdrop for the friends as they revel in their triumph.

As the day winds down, the group begins to head back to their cabins, packing up their things. Despite the heat of the game, the playful banter between Alastair and Zaviya resumes.

Zaviya, smirking, shoots a teasing glance at Alastair. "Arggghhh naka-On na naman yang pang-asar mo Alastair. Akala mo naman, ang galing mo sa volleyball."

Alastair, unbothered by the jab, grins back. "Admit it, Zaviya, you were impressed."

Zaviya rolls her eyes dramatically, her smirk never fading. "In your dreams, Alastair." Then, with a sly smile, she adds, "But I guess you’re not entirely useless."

Alastair’s grin widens, clearly enjoying the rare compliment. "Is that a compliment? I must be dreaming."

Zaviya laughs, her tone softening for a moment. "Don’t get used to it."

As they reach the porch of their cabin, Zaviya sits down, her eyes on the horizon. Alastair, ever the curious one, joins her without hesitation.

Zaviya, her voice quieter now, speaks with a soft sincerity. "You didn’t have to do that, you know."

Alastair sits beside her, her gaze focused ahead, a hint of seriousness in her tone. "Of course I did. Can’t let anyone mess with you."

Zaviya looks at her, a rare vulnerability in her eyes. "Thanks."

Alastair shrugs, as if the gesture is nothing. "Don’t mention it. Ready for another day of bantering tomorrow?"

Zaviya smiles, the familiar edge returning to her voice. "Bring it on."

And so, as the evening fades into the peaceful sounds of the night, their rivalry remains alive—never truly gone, but perhaps just a little less sharp, for now.

(fastforward)..................

It was the last day of their beach getaway in El Nido, Palawan, and the sun was shining brightly, casting its golden glow over the crystal-clear waters that sparkled like diamonds under its rays. The atmosphere was peaceful, the sea breeze gently swaying the palm trees, and the sound of waves crashing softly in the distance. Zaviya found herself lounging on a beach chair near the shore, surrounded by her friends.  On the other side of the beach, Alastair and her squad were having their own share of fun under the sun, enjoying the sea and each other’s company.

As Zaviya sipped her drink, Oliana couldn’t help but marvel at the beauty of their surroundings. “Grabe, Zavi, ang ganda ng El Nido no? Perfect talaga itong lugar na 'to for a getaway,” she remarked, her voice full of admiration.

Zaviya nodded in agreement, but there was a slight bitterness in her tone as she replied, “Oo nga, Oli. Pero sana hindi na natin nakita ang Alastair na yan.”

Violet, always one to tease, giggled. “Admit it, Zavi, kahit papaano, namimiss mo yung mga petty fights niyo.”

Zaviya rolled her eyes in mock annoyance. “As if! Nakakainis lang talaga siya.”

Reika, leaning in to whisper, added with a knowing smile, “Pero admit it, ang hot ng squad ni Alastair.”

Khali, ever the straightforward one, agreed. “True. Ang gwapo ni Klaud. Pero si Alastair, ibang level.”

Yevhen, watching the scene unfold on the other side of the beach, pointed out, “Tignan mo oh, surrounded na naman siya ng mga girls.”

Zaviya’s eyes narrowed as she watched Alastair, her annoyance bubbling up once again. “Ugh, ayan na naman siya. Parang magnet ng mga babae.”

Khali, noticing her irritation, raised an eyebrow. “Pansin ko nga, parang ang daming gustong makipag-flirt sa kanya.”

Violet, sensing the shift in mood, asked, “Zavi, ayos ka lang?”

Zaviya clenched her jaw and grit her teeth, fighting to keep her cool. “Bwiset talaga. Laging may mga babae sa paligid.”

Cass, unable to resist, teased, “Can’t blame those, gwapo talaga kasi si Alastair.”

Reika let out a laugh. “Wag kang magalit, Zavi. Relax lang.”

But Zaviya, trying to suppress her growing frustration, huffed. “Ewan ko ba, nakakairita lang talaga.”

On the other side of the beach, Alastair was in her element, surrounded by a group of girls, all vying for her attention. She flashed them her trademark charming smile, enjoying the moment to the fullest. “Ladies, one at a time, please,” she teased, her tone playful.

Klaud laughed and nudged Alastair. “Dude mamigay ka naman ahh ilan ilan na naman yang nakapulupot sayo haha.”

Gaios, with her usual laid-back attitude, added, “Right, we’re still here girls.”

Back to Zaviya’s group, their eyes were fixed on the scene. Cass smirked. “Mukhang may selos ka, Zavi.”

Zaviya quickly responded, a bit too defensively. “Ano? Selos? Sa kanya? Never!”

Violet, grinning, pushed further. “Really? Kasi parang obvious naman.”

Zaviya, flustered but trying to regain control, decided to change the subject. “Let’s just swim, okay? Ayoko ng pag-usapan si Alastair.”

They all headed towards the water, splashing and laughing as they enjoyed the cool embrace of the ocean. But Zaviya, though she tried to focus on the fun, couldn’t help but glance over at Alastair every now and then, her emotions a jumbled mess—irritation, frustration, and something deeper she couldn’t quite name.

As the afternoon wore on, it was time for them to pack up and head back to the city. Zaviya and her friends gathered their things, ready to leave when Alastair and her squad approached them, the usual smirk on her face.

Alastair, not missing a beat, called out, “Leaving so soon, Zavi?”

Zaviya crossed her arms over her chest and replied, “Yes, unlike you, we have actual work to do.”

Alastair chuckled, her laughter warm and teasing. “Ouch. Well, it was fun seeing you get all worked up. Till next time?”

Zaviya rolled her eyes. “Don’t count on it.”

Alastair’s smirk deepened. “So, enjoyed your stay, Zavi?”

Zaviya couldn’t hold back the sarcasm. “Bakit, concerned ka ba?”

Alastair laughed. “Not really, just curious if you managed to relax kahit nandito ako.”

Zaviya, trying to keep her composure, shot back with an equally sarcastic reply. “Oh, super relaxed. Thanks for asking.”

Klaud, noticing the banter between the two, called out to Alastair. “Tara na, baka maiwan tayo ng sasakyan Alastair.”

Cadence smiled at Zaviya. “Ingat kayo pabalik ng city.”

Zaviya simply nodded curtly. “Thanks. You too.”

Alastair, with a playful wink, added, “See you sa next business conference. I’m sure you’ll miss me.”

Zaviya scoffed, her irritation mounting once more. “As if. Enjoy your entourage Alastair.”

As they walked away, Zaviya couldn’t help but glance back at Alastair, who caught her eye and winked again. Zaviya huffed and quickly turned away, her cheeks flushed, much to the amusement of her friends.

Oliana, unable to contain her laughter, said, “Naku, Zavi. Mukhang ma-miss mo siya.”

Khali teased, “Or baka naman, may gusto ka na sa kanya? Yiiiii Zaviya and Alastair – Zalas hahaha.”

Yevhen, always quick with a joke, chimed in, “Zalas ampota hahaha, PorDee na lang, combined surnames nila mas cute.”

Zaviya, trying her best to remain composed, shot them a glare. “Girls, stop with those nonsense. Wag niyo ngang gawing issue 'yan.”

Violet, grinning mischievously, responded, “Sure, Zavi. Sure.”

They all burst into laughter as they made their way back to the boat, with Zaviya still fuming slightly but hiding a small smile beneath her frustration.

The vans finally arrived back in the city, and Zaviya and her friends stepped out, stretching after the long ride. Khali was the first to speak, her tone light-hearted. “Back to reality na naman.”

Violet, her energy still high from the trip, added, “But it was a fun trip. Ang daming memories.”

Zaviya, a little more subdued now, nodded. “Yeah, it was. Kahit na may ilang nakakainis na moments.”

As they walked towards the parking lot, Zaviya’s phone buzzed, pulling her from her thoughts. She opened the message to find a text from none other than Alastair.

Alastair’s Message: Looking forward to our next banter session. - Alastair

Zaviya smirked, shaking her head as she typed a reply. “Bring it on, Alastair. Bring it on.”
