Dallas' 1st POV:

This morning I walked into a small dine-in bar somewhere in town. There was a set full of cigarettes on some drawers by the counter. I sat on the stool, gesturing to the waiter to come close. "Hey man, will you hand me a coke?"

He nodded and headed towards the bar, sliding a glass across the counter and filling it with ice, the soda, icecream and who knows what else. While he was doing that,I quickly and quietly moved–extending my arm to take a pack. When he finished, I sat back down as if nothing had happened. "Jolly me, man." I whispered, hiding the pack in my leather jacket pocket.

"Here you go son."

I drank the coke and gave him the money. Then I walked out of the bar.

Johnny met me where we agreed upon. He leaned against a pole, lighting up his own cigarette.

"Hey Dally."

"Hey Johnny."

He took a step beside me and nodded. We were passing through the stores, walking away from a fight near a restaurant.

"You got your ring back. What happened?"

"The broad I was datin' two-timed me. Can you believe that?"

He raised a brow. "Hey Dal', you were the one who gave her a second chance."

"Don't get smart with me." I answered, knowing he was right. It was a huge mistake.

When Johnny and I crossed the street, we bumped into some kids walking past. "Hey, watch where you're going-!" I halfway murmured just to see Ponyboy and Y/n walking together. They didn't turn around, probably because they didn't pay attention or they're just retarted.

I smirked at Johnny, and followed them quietly behind. "So what's the greasy kids doin' here on our territory?" I mimicked a Soc's voice, gripping tight on her shoulder.

They both tensed–turning a bit pale. She had pulled a pencil outta her pocket,(At least she brought a weapon like I told her) and faced me. "Boo."

She sighed–shoulders relaxing,"Goodness gracious Dallas, you had me scared to death!"

Pony rolled his eyes."Well, I'm damned for not recognizing your accent."

She chuckled in relief, putting the pencil back in her pocket–Not a blade or a gun but it's progress."Don't do that again" She warned,"I might get a heart attack later."

"Whatever the maternal figure says."

When she left, Johnny gave me a side-eye.

He's been doin' that since I introduced Y/n to him.

"Dal'?"Johnny spoke up, giving me that weird look again.

"God Johnny, can you stop lookin' at me like that man?"

He shrugged, looking forward. "I saw you act very differently when you talked to her."

"Yeah? And what makes you say that?"

"You like Y/n don't you?"

I was speechless for a second–and when I responded, it came out unsure."No, I...I just find her interesting that's all."

He gave me one more of those glances before looking away. "Yeah, sure."

I rolled my eyes,"What? Can't I talk and have fun with another girl johnnycakes?"

He sighed,"If you like her–just be good to her man. From what I saw, she isn't like all the other broads."
