Chapter 22

Annabeth

"So heres the rules...." I kept my eyes on Dameon as he walked around. "I will choose my best fighter and you have to try and knock them out..... You do that and they don't get back up then we have a deal!" He held out his hand for me to shake. I was about to when i heard Percy.

"Please Annabeth don't do this!" He was up on his feet but was retraint by the guys. He had tears down his face. I strode towards him, forgetting about Dameon. I got with in inches to Percy and plunged my mouth on to his. I put my hands on the back of his neck pulling him closer, and deepening the kiss. He didn't hesitate to kiss back.

I pulled away and looked into those deep sea green eyes of his. I put a few strands of hair out of the way of his face. I was going to miss him if i won. But it was for the best. I gave him one last final kiss.

"I love you so much, you will always be my Seaweed Brain....." I whispered. I turned away before the tears came and looked at Dameon staright in the eye.

"Lets go!"

No one was allowed to help me or my opponent. Who ever helped from either side, the person fighting suffered a penalty. In this case it meant death. Thats what i was afraid of, if some one helped i would get killed.

I turned to everyone else of camp. I smiled determinedly at them and held my sword in the air. I took in a deep breath and shouted our war cry.

"FOR OLYMPUS!" The cry echoed down the line. Just hearing it filled me with confidence and pride. I turned back and my face dropped. Standing before me was my opponent.

Bella Mason stood three feet away, smiling smugly. It brought up the reminders of the torture i went through. the only person that has seen the marks is Mick, and i don't know where he is? I took a breath and walked towards her.

Bella was pretty, i can admit that. You would look at her and think she was sweet, then you look at her eyes. Theres something about them thats got the scare factor to them. Her eyes were cold and emotionless, only anger showed. I can tell they were once blue, now they're grey. Not like mine, hers was dull and lifeless. It nerved me, but not much. I've been through enough to know that once you gone through it you know what to do.

Thats in normal circumstances. With Bella you don't know what move she'll pull. Thats why you have to be open to every technique and movement you know. Otherwise you might as well surrender.Grabbing every inch of courage i finally found the words i was looking for and spoke. No emotion, i made my voice as emotionless i could, which wasn't very hard.

"Bella...." I just nodded. Emotions gone. I just stared at her with my empty eyes. Trying hard not to let the anger rise and show.

"Come on Annie!" She shouted. "We're mates! Theres no need to be so cold and formal!" She went to put a arm around me. I grabbed her arm, spun, making sure i twisted it., and held it against her back. Inflicting as much pain as i can. She howled in pain, and tried to shake me off.

"Don't ever touch me like that again....." I whispered threateningly in her ear. "This is pay back Bella for the pain you put me, Percy and my camp through." I pushed forward, sending her tumbling.

She didn't catch herself in time and face planted the floor. There was a almighty thud and a groan. Slowly, she picked herself up and turned bac to me, loathing in her eyes. Blood trickled down the corner of her mouth. Using the base of her palm, Bella wiped it away, wincing in the process.

"You shouldn't of done that Annie....." She whispered, so that only i can hear her. I was about to retort when she lunged, knife already in hand. Screaming, i rolled to the side. I brought myself up on one knee, my sword drawn, just in time to block a blow to the head. Loosing my balance i fell backwards.

I heard a few of my campers gasp as i fell back. Some started cheering and chanting. I could hear Nico, Thalia and Percy voice above everyone elses. Some where shouting encouragements.

"COME ON ANNABETH!" The stolls and Katie shouted.

"ANNABETH! ANNABETH! ANNABETH! ANNABETH!" Thats how it was through out the fight. Each chant lifted my spirits and gave me hope. They need me.... I'm not letting them down! I blocked another blow and rolled backwards, pushing myself up onto my feet. I bared my teeth, crouched in a fighters stance and waited.

We started circling each others. Like lionesses. Everyone was quiet, waiting for the next move, so they can start chanting and shouting again. I was getting impatient. I was about to charge when i stopped....... She knows this! She knows i will get impatient and charge first..... She planned this out. Well two can play at that game. As badly as i want to hurt her, i can't risk making one fatal move. One bad move and it could end it all. No sooner than i sprung my plan Bella screamed in frustration.

"NOOO! I WILL NOT MAKE THE FIRST MOVE YOU COW! YOU CAN'T STAND IT!" She sounded dilerious. When i didn't make a move towards her she had another out burst. "FIGHT ME!" She screeched at the top of her lungs. Everyone was quiet. The only audioable sound was her heavy breathing.

I was about to say something when some one spoke. "Bella?" This caught us both off guard. I took a quick glance and saw it was Chiron, his eyes filled with so much emotion. I looked back at Bella and she was shocked. Tears formed at the corner of her eyes. She took several steps back, hand covering her mouth. She started shaking her head.

"No.... No your dead...." She whispered, but everyone heard her. I looked at Chiron, then i saw Percy. His face was pure awe. I gave him a look, but he didn't take notice.

"I'm not...... I'm very much alive swe-" Chiron didn't finish as Bella had a out burst. She spu and started shouting at Dameon.

"You said the gods took his life back! You said they didn't need him anyore!" She started crying. "YOU SAID HE WAS DEAD AND IT WAS ALL THE GODS FAULT! YOU LIED TO ME!" She shook violently.

"Your powerful Bella..... We're your family..... not them!" Dameon spat the last word. "You didn't need him!"

"HE'S MY DAD! OF COURSE I NEEDED HIM!" She shouted. I went wide eyed. I looked at Chiron and he wasn't happy.

"Bella.... Sweetheart come here?" Chiron said. Bella looked at him and ran into his arms.

"Its really you..." He whispered. "I thought you were dead....." She held on tight to his little girl and stroked her hair. I was welling up. Then a thought came to me. I turned to Dameon. Before i could scream, Dameon pulled my hair, yanking my head back. I called out in pain, as he held a knife to my lower abdomen.

"Percy....." Tears came down my face as he pressed it further i to my stomach, the pain over taking and too powerful.

"DAMEON STOP!" Percy charged forward.

"Stop! Or she dies!" Pecy stopped midstride. Percy stared intensly at me, almost as if he's trying to tell me something.

"Annabeth? You ok?" He asked, eyes pinned on the knife.

"Yes...." I let out shakily.

"Jason?" I heard a mumbled yes.

"Dameon..... I'll do what ever you say...... Just leave her alone she's got othing to do with any of this!" Percy said.

"She's invloved with you Percy..... Remember what i said a feww years back...... Don't let your loved ones get invloved they'll only get hurt...." He pushed the knife in deeper and i screamed. Blood was being drawn now.

"I know! Please!" He was pleading.

"This is repayment Jackson! For backstabbing me!" With that he pushed the knife fully in. I screamed and tumbled.

"ANNABETH!" Percy charged forward and caught me. I heard rushing foot steps as people formed a barricade around us.

"Percy......" My vision was blurry. "Percy..... I'm sorry....." With that i passed out.

Percy POV

She was loosing blood rapidly, I can't loose her. I just can't. I saw Thalia, Nico, Lacey, Reece, Katie, The Stolls, Clarrise, Chris, Jason Grace, Piper, Leo, Frank and Hazel run forward and produce a barricade. They got Brianna's Jason in safely and Will carried him away. Wasting no time i hualed Annabeth into a bridal style lift and started running. Chaos was around us. Then i saw a odd sight. Bella ran up to me.

"How can i help?" She was actually concerned.

"Go and help the others, they're gonna need everyone they can get, help some get into ranks and charge.... Chiron will know what to do from there on!" She nodded and ran off. Her long brown her whirling around her. I went to run again when Mick appeared infront of me worry in his eyes.

"Let me take her Percy..." He went to take her but i pulled away.

"No! She needs me!" I sounded childish but it was true.

"So does your camp! They need their leader! I won't do anything to hurt her Percy! I love her just as much as you do! I will never hurt her! I would die to keep her safe!" I look into his eyes and can tell he was telling the truth.

"OK...." I passed her over, i pushed her hair back and kissed her forehead and lips. "I'll be back..... Don't give up Annabeth.... Hang in there Wise girl.... I'm not giving up until your safe...." With one last kiss i told Mick to go, he went off sprinting with the love of my life in his arms. Holding back tears i ran and joined the battle, no armor no protection. But i don't care, its payback time.

"EVERY ONE FALL BACK!" They did, every single one of them and sprinted for the lines of camp. I helped anyone needing it. I was last though wih Thalia. The rogues can't get us for another three days. This will give us time to plan.

The war has begun.
