Touya Part 2

Dabi's POV

For so long, I had felt the need to hide who I was. I wanted to have a big reveal for everyone. I didn't even tell the people closest to me, no matter if they told me their own identity. I felt like I couldn't trust anyone. No one was really there for me. At least that's what I thought. And then this hero came into my life. I thought he might be the death of me. In many ways. But I guess I was wrong.

Because I'm sitting here now, feeling something that I haven't ever felt before. I want him to actually know me. Not this fake facade that I put up for everyone. I want him to know me!

Hawks' POV

Dabi sat to where his back was all the way against the head board. I did the same. Dabi started telling me a story. "I was the first born in my family. The son of a great and powerful man. He was a good person back then. So was my mom. She had no trauma at that point. A little after I was born, came my sister. She was a beautiful person." Dabi paused and looked off at the wall, as if he were picturing her. "Sometimes Toga reminds me of her."

Dabi sighed. "When I got my quirk, my father was so proud of me. My fire ended up being stronger than his own. He trained me to become a powerful hero, wanting me to surpass All Might." He paused and held up his arm, looking at his scars. He dragged a finger across the burnt skin. "But after it started burning me, he brought me to a hospital. They told him that it would be best to keep me from using my power."

He put his arm down. I already couldn't believe what I was hearing. His own quirk was not fit for his body. "My dad had married my mom for a quirk marriage. My dad had fire, and my mom had ice." I couldn't help but compare it to Endeavor's living situation. But I'm sure it's a coincidence. "My skin is meant for extreme cold. Not fire. So everytime I use my power... I-"

I finished his sentence, horrified. But I hid the feeling. "You're burning yourself alive."

Dabi looked at me and nodded. "Yeah." He looked away again. "At some point, after I wanted to keep training, he had another son. This one didn't please him. So he had another. This one..." He stopped, blood trickling down his cheek. His fist clenched in anger and smoke rose from under his patchy skin. "This one was perfect. More perfect than I was. He was the perfect creation."

Dabi took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. And then he continued. "At some point, I tried to kill him. But I failed. I hated myself. But I still kept training. I kept trying to prove myself to him." He stopped again. It was like he was reliving the moment in his head. I put my hand on his, comforting him as he spoke. "I snuck onto Sekoto Peak. I trained every day. When I told my dad to watch me, he freaked out. He realized that I had been training, and using my power. He was furious."

His breathing started to shake. "The next time I went up there, I started crying. I couldn't get the tears to stop. And before I knew it, I-" He stopped, as if he couldn't get the words out. Another drop of blood rolled down his cheek, staining them. "I was covered in fire. He had taught me only to make it hotter. Not to stop it. And I... I could feel it everywhere. And before I knew it, Touya Todoroki was dead."

He went silent after that. He didn't say anything else. It took me a second to realize what he said. Touya Todoroki. Endeavor's son. It wasn't a coincidence! I looked at his black hair. "You're hair-"

"It's hair dye." He interrupted me. I looked down at my feet. I couldn't even believe what I was hearing. He was the son of Endeavor. I heard him say something else. "Pretty crazy, huh? The number one hero has a son that's a mass murderer."

"Keigo Takami."

Dabi looked at me, confused. "What?"

I looked back at him. "It's nice to meet you, Touya. I'm Keigo Takami. Son of the thief and murderer, Takami. Caught and arrested by Endeavor." I put my hand out for him to shake.

Dabi stared at me in disbelief for a few seconds. And then he smiled and took my hand. "It's nice to meet you, Keigo."
