Hanging Out

I went home and took a quick shower. I then texted Robert my address. As soon as four o'clock hit, i saw his Audi in front of my house. I went outside and he was leaning against his car. "You ready to see what luxury is like?" He said standing up fully and opening my door for me. "Thank you." I say as i sit down on his nice leather seats."No problem." He says closing my door and running to the other side. He starts the car and starts driving. "You going to tell me where we are going?" I ask, i see him grin."Nope." He says popping the "p". "Can you give me a hint?" "You will probably like it." Hm i cant think of anything, then we drive off the road to this park."A park?" I ask, he just nods. A couple minutes later he parks the car and gets stuff out of the back. "We, my dear, are having a picnic." He says laying the checkered blanket down on the ground. "Ive never had a picnic like this before." "Im sure you will like it. I just brought simple stuff, sandwiches, water, and cookies." He said taking out each item as he said it. "Its almost like a movie.." I say."How?" "Like that one scene, im not saying this is happening like that but, the scene when there is the girl and the guy on the romantic picnic...." He chuckles after i say that, while my heart is pounding from embarrassment. "I guess it is kind of like a movie." "Well, yeah but we are just friends though.." I say that and it seems he gets a little disappointed. "What? Whats wrong, Robert?" "Nothing." Hm, i wonder why his mood changed so quickly. "So, tell me more about yourself, Sage." "Like what?" "I dont know, got any friends around here besides me? Or are they all back home in New York?" "Well, i have friends in New York, i dont have any here. But my friend Haruhi lives in Arizona with her girlfriend, Celty." "Oh, so they are your closest friends to you besides me?" "Yeah. But soon they plan on moving to Japan for their careers." I say looking down, a little sad because Haruhi is my best friend."What career?" "Drawing anime. Do you know what anime is?" "Im guessing some kind of cartoon. What is it?" "Its a Japanese art, they make it into shows and movies and video games. I used to draw some anime, but it was more manga and chibi, not really anime." "Whats manga and chibi?" "Anime is more sophisticated, where manga and chibi are more easy, they are like cuter versions of anime i guess." "What would you draw? Just made up characters or..?" He asks taking a bite of his sandwich. "Um.. I would actually draw you...." "Really? Do you still have the drawings?" "Somewhere, but they arent great." "Well, one day i would like to see them, i highly doubt they arent good." "Okay." We then finish eating and he packs the picnic up. "What do you want to do now?" I shrug my shoulders."I dont know. I didnt even know we were going on a picnic." "Fine, ill decide for you." He then opens the car door for me, i get in and he closes it. He rushes to the other side and gets in and starts the car and drives. "Where are we going now?" I ask, he doesnt answer. "Hello? Robert, you here?" "Im here, im just not going to tell you where we are going." "Oh, well you couldve said 'its a surprise' or something. I thought you didnt here me." "Oh, sorry. Ill be more verbal." He then keeps driving and i recognize the street, with all of the nice houses. "Know where we are now?" He asks."Yes, we are going to your house." He nods and pulls into his driveway. We walk in and he leads me to his dining room. He walks towards the piano and motions for me to sit next to him. He starts playing a song and i immediately recognize it.  This is the night ive been dreaming of foreverThe mirror takes a look at my faceIll never set foot in that rat hole again But ill drive to your placeI start singing along with him and he smiles when i do. Im an alto so i sing low not high, so i dont sing an octave higher than what he sings. I sing the exact same notes which can be low. She says, your throwing life awayTo move with a man like meJust to move with a man like me.We finish the song. That was awesome, i just had a duet with Robert Downey Jr! "Wow, you have a really good singing voice!" "Thanks, i usually dont sing in front of people, but i cant help it when its your music." "Really?" "Yeah, when i first heard your music, i would play it in study hall on the teachers computer, and start singing to it. Id immediately stop when the teacher would look at me and make a surprised face." "Why would they make a surprised face?" "Because whenever he told me to sing, i wouldnt. He would say that he wouldnt judge and all that, which he didnt, but i was just too uncomfortable to sing in front of him. So when i did sing, he would make a surprised face, then after compliment me.""Dont you like compliments?" "Well, yeah, but i dont know what to say after i get them. It was funny because he would always sing to a song i said i knew, and move his head weirdly every time he hit a different note. Then he would stop singing for a moment and tell me to, i always denied it." "He sounds cool." "Oh, yeah! He was a really cool teacher! Just sometimes annoying, thats all." We both chuckle. "Well, i should go home, we both have work tomorrow so." "Okay, ill grab my keys." We both get up and we get into his car and he starts driving. "So, Sage?" "Yeah?" "You have any crushes?" My eyes widen after he says that."What?" "Do. You. Have. Any. Crushes?" He says, pausing after each word."Um... Yes i guess.." He narrows his eyes and raises an eyebrow."You guess?" He asks repeating me."Yeah... Why do you have any crushes?" "Of course i do." "Then who?" "An actress. Whos yours?" "An actor." "I see we have some things in common." He chuckles."I guess we do. Isnt that a good thing?""Yeah, i would hope so." After that, we arrive at my house, he gets out of the car fast and rushes to my side. "You know, everytime we get in and out of a car, you dont have to open the door for me?" "I know, im just being a gentleman. I cant be nice?" "You can, i was just saying." He gives me a hug and i get into my house and go to bed soon after.
