Let It Pour

18:12, 6 August 2015

"Takao-kun!" You shouted his name as you saw him at the gazebo. You're holding your painful cheeks while running toward him with some tears left in your eyes.

"[L/name]-san, what happen to you?" Takao came to you and asked anxiously.

"Midorima Shintarou happened."

"Again? Just what is wrong with you guys? Sigh." Takao shook his head like a stressed man.

You pouted. Suddenly you saw that man came walking toward both of you. "Oh no! Here he comes. Takao-kun, cover me." You hid behind Takao with your head sticking out to look at the bespectacled man. "Go away, you evil villain!"

Midorima didn't respond to your insult but he took a seat instead. He totally ignored you and enjoyed his lunch like nothing ever happened while you were still hiding behind Takao.

"What had you done to [L/name]-san this time, Shin-chan? Why is she crying?"

"I did nothing." He answered halfheartedly.

"Don't ever believe him, Takao-kun. He's lying! Look at his eyes. They're full of hatred and disgust that they turned green." Pointing to him. You're exaggerating a little there.

"Just eat your lunch, nanodayo. The bell is going to ring soon." Still ignoring you.

You and Takao sat down finally. "I have no idea of what is the wrong with you guys. You're not much different than cats and dogs. Always quarreling. Even cats and dogs can be friends nowadays, but you guys?" Takao started his nagging session.

"He's the one who started it."

"No I'm not. It's you."

"You!"

"ENOUGH GUYS!! Can we just eat peacefully?"

Both of you let off a 'hmph' and glared to each other before both of you turned to the other side. How childish. Noticing the tense in the air, Takao spoke up. "[L/name]-san, I promised to let you taste my cooking. So here it is." He gave you a mouthful of Futomaki.

You froze at the first bite. It's.. awful. You swallowed the food slowly. You're trying your best to hide it but it showed clearly on your face.

"So how was it?"

"Let me just cook for you everyday, okay?" That's the best thing you can think of saying without hurting his feeling.

"She's saying that it's horrible, nanodayo." Midorima who was staring at you finally spoke. Surprisingly, that's what you just thought.

"Why??? This is so disappointing. I woke up early this morning just to prepare for this." Takao cried fakefully. "I'm sorry for making you eat that, [L/name]-san."

"It's okay, it's okay. You'll do better with practice. I see the potential in you. Don't ever give up." You patted his back and gave him some encouraging advice just like in the cooking competition that you watched last weekend. Maybe it can cheer him up, you thought.

He just smiled brightly at your word. "Please teach me master!" He bowed to you. Both of you ended up laughing. Midorima at the other hand was just watching you guys with that regular annoyed look on his face.

"Oh yes, I almost forgot. We have a game this afternoon. Can you come and watch us play?"

"Sure."

"Why did you ask her to come, nanodayo? She'll destroy my lucky item just like the last time."

"Don't worry. I won't touch that thing anymore. It's a waste of time."

The rest of the recess was filled with laughter of yours and Takao's. He had so much things to talk to you. He is such a good companion. Unlike that guy who just keep his mouth shut along with his emotionless face.

"Thanks for your help, [L/name]-san. You saved my career." Your thirty years old homeroom teacher thanked you after you done helping her with some works. She's one of the teachers that you are close to. She always help you with your study so in return, you help her with what ever work she asked. They're not that hard anyway. Filling the report books, checking the scores and stuffs like that. Besides, you can escape from the tension of being in that one hell of a classroom by helping her.

"It's nothing much, sensei. I just did a few." You excused yourself after looking at the clock. It's late already. You never thought it will last that long. Then you remembered something.

The game.

'How come I forgot about it? It's late already! I wonder if they're still playing.' You speedwalking through the corridor. It's raining outside. Luckily you had an umbrella in your locker. You brought it this morning after learning the lesson a few days ago.

As you're rushing toward the gym, your eyes caught the sight of the green haired man at the second gate of the school. He's standing in the rain like a pole. You walked toward him with a puzzled mind.

"Hey, what are you doing here in the rain? You might catch a cold, you know?" You covered his head with the umbrella. Even that you hate him, you still have a slight humanity inside you. You shouldn't just let the rain kill him. That sneaky creature! It's just like a ninja, it will sneaks into every nook and cranny and attack the victim from inside when they least expect it. And if there's someone who's going to kill that man, it's gonna be you.

He didn't seem to budge with your words. You looked at him. His clothes were drenched. He must have been there for a long time. Then your view climbed to his face. Shockingly, you saw a streak of liquid water running down his cheek and it doesn't look like the rain. 'Is he crying??'

"Are you crying?" You took a closer look at him. You're on your toes as he is way taller than you. You couldn't believe it. You saw him laughed and cried at the same day. How freaking awesome is that? Without you realized, your face was just few inches away from him.

Midorima was shocked by that. Only now he noticed you were here. He distanced himself from you while wiping away his tears.

"Why are you crying? Boy shouldn't cry. That's so uncool. What, are your frogs dead?"

"I'm not crying, nanodayo." He's back with his own self but only for a short while. Then, he's quiet again. It looks like your insult did not work this time. And that's not fun.

In the end you just stood there leaning against the wall quietly, looking up to the sky as the rain falls in its harmonic rhythm while you hold the umbrella. You have to admit that you like watching the rain as much as you hate it. It gives some kind of calmness to the earth.

Time passed slowly and the rain seems to stop. You noticed Midorima stole a glance at you so you looked back at him. He averted his eyes from you. "Are you feeling better now?"

Silent.

"Why don't you tell me what happened? Don't keep it inside. It will swallow you up."

He didn't respond. You're tired of waiting for his reply. You've been doing all the talking so far, so now it's time for you to give up. "Fine. I get it. I'll go away." You stepped to walk away from him.

"Don't go." He said as he grabs your hand. He pulled you closer to his side. You froze by his action. His touch made your heart fluttered but you managed to control it. "We lost. I lost."

You looked at him. He's looking at the ground with disappointment written all over his face.

"I don't know where I did wrong. I had my lucky item with me. I taped my fingers. I did everything that Oha-asa told. Everything! I.. I don't know. Maybe my skill has deteriorated. It's my fault for making the team lose."

"Didn't I told you that the Oha-asa thing is ridiculous? You really should stop believing that superstition thing. They can never do any harm or good to you. It's not your fault that you lose. You win and lose as a team. And I don't agree that you say your skill's no good. The shots you made, they're all perfect. They're the most beautiful shots I had ever seen. So stop blaming yourself. Don't be such a jerk." You poured words after words without even thinking.

Midorima was taken aback by your words. He stared straight into your eyes. "Did you really mean it?"

"Which part? You being a jerk? Yes, absolutely."

"About my shots."

"Y-yeah." Your face redden. You know you should keep the 'Midorima-makes-the-prettiest-shots' thing to yourself but somehow it escaped your mouth. 'This unsensored mouth. Sigh.'

"Thanks." He said to the invisible person at his right. Well, it seems like that.

The situation became awkward. None of you were talking. Then, exactly two minutes and forty eight seconds later, Midorima turned to you and looked at your pathetic self.

"Do you want to be my girlfriend?"
