Start Over

Jin's POV

It's been days since Taehyung and I last talked to each other. We're too busy with practice and I made sure that we won't be left alone.

I also asked JK to accompany me during my extra practice sessions just to make sure Taehyung will not approach me like he did the last time.

"Hyung, Jimin Hyung wants to practice our blending for the vocal parts later. I won't be able to walk you home" JK approached me after class.

He looked so guilty so I smiled to assure him.

"That's good Kookie. Just go and practice with Jiminie"

I know he's dying to have an alone time with Jimin.

I haven't confirmed it yet but it seems JK has a crush on Jiminie. He act cold when my lovely dongsaeng tease him but when Jimin ignored him, he looked like a lost puppy.

"Are you sure Hyung?"

I never told JK what happened that day but he knew that I'm avoiding Taehyung. I'm really grateful to our considerate Maknae.

I can skip extra practice for today. I thought.

"Yes. Don't worry, goodluck with your practice and enjoy" I winked to tease Kookie which is now as red as tomato.

Once Namjoon announced that our practice is done, I immediately took my things.

"Jin, can we talk?"

I heard Taehyung said when I'm about to leave.

"What do we need to talk about?" I asked coldly.

"A lot of things. Can you come with me?"

Hoseok, Yoongi and Namjoon are still in the practice room and I know they overheard our conversation.

They exchanged a look and I know they're waiting for my answer.

I felt guilty since our members are being careful about my past with Taehyung which caused the awkward atmosphere when we're in the same room.

I don't want to make a scene so agreed.

"Okay, let's talk"

Taehyung pulled me outside the practice room.

"You can let go of my hand now" I tried to take my hand back but Taehyung just gripped it tighter and intertwined our fingers.

"Don't wanna" He flashed his boxy smile.

I rolled my eyes.

I felt familiar feelings inside my chest while looking at Taehyung's side profile.

We walked holding hands as if it's the most natural thing to do.

It is. Before.

Taehyung took me in a café. He ordered alot of food and most of it are my favorites.

He silently cut the burger and place it on my plate like he always do when we're still together.

I checked his expression to see if he's just trying to impress me by playing gentleman but he looked like he's lost in his thoughts and doing things by impulse.

"Is it my last supper?" I joked to break the tension.

He finally looked at me.

"You love to eat alot when you're tired so eat first"

"Oh" He still remembers. "T-thanks"

"And.. You're scary when you're hungry" he added and smirked.

I snorted.

After few bites I started to ask questions again.

"What do you want us to talk about?"

"I have a favor to ask Jin" He looked nervous. "Can we start all over?"

Thud. My heart beats too fast only to be torn apart because of what he said next.

" ..as Friends"

"We're on the same band now and we will see each other often. I just don't want us to be awkward and burden our friends" Taehyung quickly explained when I didn't gave an answer.

He has a point. I thought about it for a minute.

If I'm going to be honest right now, I'm not mad at Taehyung. I was hurt because he left me.

I looked Taehyung for few seconds and I can see the sincerity in his eyes.

I took a deep breath.

We can't change what happened in the past but we can make things better by choosing what's best at the present.

"Okay. Let's start over as friends"

I offered my hand to make it official.

"Hi, I'm Kim Seokjin. You can call me Hyung"

Taehyung smiled wide and accepted my hands. "Nice to meet you Jin, I'm Kim Taehyung"

"Ya! Call me Hyung" I pouted.

"Don't wanna" He teased me.

We both smiled.

For the first time in 5 years, my heart feel lighter.
