CHAPTER 1: The Twisted Uchiha
01:55, 30 August 2023A/N : Heyoo~ Ahem...so yes this is my first fanfic and this is the first chapter of it...heh😅 Well, I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. I am trying my best to do justice to the actual characters and their personalities but ofc there will be a few changes so...yeah! That's it! And the art is not mine 😬 but credits to the owner 🙇🏻♀️
Uchiha Sasuke woke up on the wrong side of the bed this Monday. Mondays weren't exactly good to begin with since they required waking up at six in the morning to get ready to go to school after a nice lazy Sunday, only to be surrounded by girls... In fact, he would wake up with an irritable mood every day without exception. He didn't have his life going particularly smoothly anyways.
In any case, he wasn't looking forward to this day either. He switched off his alarm, which sounded like a crow cawing its lungs out. He stretched a little before getting out of bed and went straight to brush his teeth. He hated that smelly morning breath.
'Is there no way to make it smell like blueberries in the early morning?'
Sasuke thought lazily while brushing his teeth. He washed his face with a charcoal face wash, which made his skin shine under the sun rays that entered his washroom from the small window beside the sink.
Sasuke's classes started at half past eight in the morning, and his school, Konoha High, was only a 20-minute walk from his house. Hence, he had all the time to be lazy and wake up at seven in the morning. However, Sasuke chose to wake up an hour earlier than required. Why? Because he wanted to go to school looking perfect, and that had been the case every day since he turned 13.
He was obsessed with having everything "perfect." He would wake up at six, exercise for half an hour, and freshen up by seven. He would then groom his black, silky hair (which took quite a long time because it was long) and style it into a 'perfect' shape (aka the infamous duckbutt hair). He used gel to make it shine just the right amount and spray to make it stay in place throughout the day. He would then repeat his morning skincare routine, and by 7:30, he would be dressed in his 'perfectly' ironed uniform, with his black shoes 'perfectly' polished. His face would look 'perfect', with glass skin, and above it, his long black bangs 'perfectly' set.
Everything was supposed to be done perfectly, like the way Itachi, his elder brother, did things. Sasuke idolized Itachi; there was no doubt. However, he couldn't help but feel a certain resentment towards him on a few occasions, which mostly had to do with their father not paying Sasuke enough attention while praising Itachi for his smallest achievements.
"The day you achieve more than what Itachi did at your age, I'll acknowledge your efforts," his father, Uchiha Fugaku, would say to him every time they had a family dinner.
His efforts were never deemed enough. Make no mistake, Sasuke had achieved many milestones at his age and was always ahead of his peers, but the fields in which Sasuke excelled were considered "useless" in the eyes of Fugaku. Fugaku never acknowledged Sasuke's artistic abilities because he thought they would lead to nothing and were in no way beneficial to the family business.
"You won't be needing paints and canvases to run the Sharingan Villas," were his father's words.
Fugaku owned a chain of resorts he named Sharingan Villas, and he had already decided for Itachi to be the heir to it.
Sasuke knew that he would never be the heir to the family business, and he never wanted to be. However, he did wish for his father to allow him to become an artist. But if his father was against the idea, he wouldn't dare rebel and follow the path his father wanted him to take. He wanted to be the perfect son like Itachi, and obsessing over this fact, he never realized how he was being treated unfairly.
'My family is perfect. I haven't made enough efforts to meet their standards. I just have to keep working hard,'
Sasuke would think every time after having a talk with his father. He was extremely patient with those whom he thought he loved. He had never complained about his father not recognizing his efforts and would feel extremely guilty when he felt resentment towards Itachi.
'You are the one lacking, it isn't his fault. Why are you annoyed at Itachi? You have to work harder to be better and catch up to him. You have always walked behind him,'
Sasuke would say to himself out of guilt every once in a while, looking at himself in the mirror beside his bed.
He checked out his final look for one last time in the mirror and set out for school after picking up his breakfast that his mother would pack for him before going to work everyday. His mother, Uchiha Mikoto, always gave him his bus fare, but Sasuke liked to save it. He saved it to buy himself paints and canvases, off the record, as his father would always demand an account of his expenditures by the end of each month.
He walked on the footpath of the streets of Konoha city and reached his destination ten minutes before eight. The meal he was supposed to have for breakfast before his classes started, Sasuke would save for lunch to save his lunch money for his art supplies. He entered his classroom and sat in the farthest corner of the room. He plugged in his earpods, listening to "Can you feel my heart" by Bring Me The Horizon on loop. He pulled his hood over his head and rested his head on a pillow he made by folding his arms on the table.
"I long for that feeling to not feel at allThe higher I get, the lower I'll sinkI can't drown my demons,They know how to swim."
It was scary how Sasuke was able to relate to the lyrics so well, even for himself.
Though he had tuned out the rest of the world with the song playing at maximum volume, he could still hear the noises and chit-chat that started infiltrating the building and soon the classroom. He lifted his head slightly to see the sight he dreaded the most. With half-closed eyelids, he watched as a group of girls, led by Sakura, the leader of Sasuke's fan club, approached him steadily. He averted his gaze and went back to minding his own business.
Sasuke was a very observant man, very observant. Nothing got past his onyx eyes. Hence, he had already analyzed the behavior of his classmates. He knew that Haruno Sakura was a brilliant girl and a really good friend to those around her. If she wasn't the leader of that fan club, or so they liked to call themselves, Sasuke would have considered making her his friend.
'Friends... I don't need them.'
Sasuke's thoughts kept him distracted from the girls who were hovering around him and creating a commotion. All he could do when faced with the swarm of girls was wish that Yamanaka Ino, her best friend, would come here and take them away.
He was pretty sure he would be saved soon. His observations told him that Ino had a huge crush on Sakura but was extremely good at hiding it. And, of course, nobody would want to see their crush doting on some other man early in the morning. He had always been secretly thankful to Ino, but only secretly. He never did and never could express himself without earning verbal abuse from the other party.
"Sasuke-kun! Why are you sleeping so early in the morning?" Sasuke could hear Sakura whining right next to his ear. '
She's too close...why can't she leave me alone?!'
Sasuke removed one of his earpods and looked up at Sakura, who was standing just beside his table, staring straight into her eyes.
"You're annoying."
Sasuke said in his cold, deep voice. He could see sadness in her eyes as he spat those words at her, but she got over it pretty soon. Just as she was about to speak again, Ino appeared right by her side. She grabbed her hand and pulled her away from Sasuke, all while lecturing her about how it was rude of her to be inconsiderate of Sasuke's personal space. All the other girls looked at Sasuke with disappointment shining in their eyes. They wanted to spend more time with Sasuke, but none of them was strong enough to brave Sasuke's rudeness and coldness towards them. They always needed to be led by someone, and unfortunately, that someone was always Sakura. The rest of the girls quickly dispersed after giving him a few quick glances, and just a minute later, the bell was heard, leaving Sasuke alone with his thoughts.
'It's going to be a long day...'
