13. Jisung

17:18, 15 October 2024

Jisung hurried out the door, running to meet with his friends. As it was Sunday, the four decided to hang out away from the stress of school and their families.

"Sungie!" Felix hugged him tightly, the other two rolling their eyes at the elder's affections.

"Ready to go?" Seungmin asks, tapping his foot as they wait. The blonde lets go first, nodding excitedly. They started down the footpath in no particular direction, going wherever they wanted to.

Without realizing, they went through multiple streets and alleyways, caught up in their conversation. As they talked the eldest led them into a dark alleyway where their laughs echoed off the brick.

"Wait...where are we?" Jeongin asks, looking at his surroundings as the other three broke away from their little world and realized they had no idea where they were.

"Dammit." Jisung whispered, spinning around as he tried to find anything familiar. Footsteps could be heard in the distance, growing closer. Scared, the elder's grabbed the other two's hands and started to run back the way they came.

"No, you don't." A tall, strong man stepped out, blocking their way and causing the youngest to scream. The four quickly spun around, trying to go the other way but were immediately met with another man.

The strangers stalked closer, causing the group to back into the wall.

"What do you want?" Jisung asked, not wanting the situation to escalate. One of them smirked, revealing a gold tooth that shimmered in the sunlight.

"We just want to ruff you up a bit, take out our frustrations, ya know?" Jeongin cowered, wrapped in Seungmin's arms.

"And" The other spoke up, "Some money wouldn't be too bad either." One of them suddenly grabbed the eldest, pulling him away and slamming him into the wall before sending a punch to his cheek.

The other's screamed, distracted when Felix was suddenly yanked away by the other stranger and kicked in the stomach. Jisung watched as his friend fell. Ignoring the second punch, he bolted to the blonde.

An arm wrapped around his waist and pulled the boy flush up against himself. The man held him as he struggled, watching the younger try to get up just to be hit down again. After a while, Felix became unresponsive, no longer reacting to any of the hits he was receiving.

"Ugh, he's unconscious or something, I'm gonna choose another one." The man sighed, grabbing Seungmin's arm and pulling him forward as he kicked him. Jisung yelled but a hand was clamped over his mouth as the man behind him spoke.

"You!" Jeongin turned to him with wide, terrified eyes. "Go empty his pockets and hand over what he's got." The boy stumbled over to his friend. As the squirrel boy struggled, he was suddenly thrown to the ground and straddled.

His hands flew up, protecting his face as the man punched him in various places. Pain sprouted through his body, and a headache bloomed when his head was lifted up and slammed onto the concrete.

Everything seems to blur and grow darker, the throbbing in his head growing stronger. The boy dropped his arms, leaving him unprotected when a sudden shout pierced through the fog in his brain.

The stranger was pulled off of him and out of sight, revealing the sky. It was a rich blue, with many clouds of different shapes. He could see a flower, and a turtle. Such weird things to be floating in the sky...

More shouts could be heard as a face appeared above his.

"Jisung, can you hear?"

Who was it, that voice was so familiar. The boy squinted, trying to focus in on the person above him.

"Jisung! Can you hear?"

It was becoming clearer, the voice, the face, the person. Minho.

"Minho?" He croaked out, trying to sit up. The elder pushed him back down.

"Stay here for a bit, we're just...disposing of something, I'll be back, I promise." Minho left his range of vision, and more yelling could be heard. Jisung screwed his face up in concentration, trying to figure out who was shouting.

He could hear Minho, as well as someone groaning. Nearby he could make out Seungmin and Jeongin's scared voices, talking to someone as they slowly got quieter. After what felt like forever of him trying to keep his eyes open, the elder came into view.

"Hyunjin, help me get him on my back." Another, tall, slender figure bent down near his face as hands pulled him up by his arms. The boy's head screamed in disapproval as he was moved, somehow finding his way to being chest to back with Minho.

The elder secured his legs and the other watched as Hyunjin picked up a still unconscious Felix up bridal style. They started walking and Jisung started to wonder if he should trust them. It was true they'd not known each other for long, but he felt as though he could trust them.

It's not like he had another choice right now anyway.

"You can sleep Jisung, you'll be okay."

He hadn't even realized how tired he was. The boy's bones felt like weights and his eyelids threatened to close.

Eventually, he gave in, eyes closing as he rested his cheek on Minho's shoulder.
