Chapter 24

"Are you sure?" Tony asked, his suit quickly forming over his body.

"I can feel it. It's him." Loki slowly said as his green eyes stared at the screen. I could see the fear he held towards this man and that scared me.

"Guys?" Quill cautiously asked. I hit the 'live' button and it went straight into his live feed. They were hovering over the destroyed world, large pieces flying all around them. I spotted the being on Drax's feed and saw that he was now in space with them, watching them.

"Guys! Get out of there!" I yelled. Their ship began to shake and their feeds all went static, sending us a loud pitched noise in the process. I covered my ears and Fury muted the sound as quickly as he could. 

"A-Are they dead?" Thor asked as he dropped his crossed arms. I looked over at the third monitor and turned it on. I could see their vital signs were still active.

"No." I sighed in relief.

"He took them." Tony whispered. 

"Alright, this just became a level 10 threat. I'm calling in everyone. He's targeting worlds and ours isn't far down his list. Everyone get to the conference room, now!" Fury yelled as he stood up and stormed out of his office. Loki grabbed my hand before I could even react and we suddenly appeared in the large conference room. His hand fit so perfectly around mine and it gave me those familiar butterflies. But I knew it was wrong so I pulled away from him and crossed my arms. I walked over and sat in my assigned seat, three down from Fury's seat at the head of the table. Loki took his seat next to me, two down from Fury and Fury stormed into the room, ignoring us. He set his communication device on the table and put his hands behind his back. Tony, Thor, Nat and Clint all walked in and took their seats. Tony on the very right of Fury, next to Loki, and Thor across from Loki. Nat and Clint sat next to one another next to Thor.

"So-"

"Not a goddamn word until everyone is here, got it?" Fury harshly said as he glared at Tony. Tony raised his brows and nodded as he leaned back in his chair. He had removed his suit before sitting down.

Steve, Bucky, Sam, War Machine and Bruce all walked in one by one and took their seats. Steve to the left of Fury, War Machine stood near the door, he had no seat at the official Avenger table. Bruce sat next to Clint, Bucky sat be seat down from Bruce and Sam next to him. Bucky smiled over at me but I was too focused on what I had seen in Fury's officer to return it. I looked down and furrowed my brows as I went through everything we had just seen, trying to figure out literally anything.

Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Peter, Eddie, a man named Dr. Strange, who I've never met before, and Happy were the next party to arrive. Peter's seat was by me, Strange was by him and Black Panther stood next to Fury's chair. He never sat down during these meetings. Neither did Captain Marvel because she stood on the right of Fury's seat, her hands behind her back too. Eddie didn't have a seat since he was just an alley and not an actual Avenger. Happy stood with him and War Machine.

Wanda and a man named Ant-Man, who I've also not met before, and Fury's two top agents, Hill and Coulson, were the last to arrive. Ant-Man sat next to Strange and Wanda next to Sam while the agents stood at the opposite end of the table, facing Fury. The room was silent and the others could sense the fear coming from the ones who knew what was happening. 

"Now. Some....horrific information has just been brought to my attention." Fury began as he sat down in his chair and looked out over the table. Everyone sat up in attention to these words and Fury furrowed his brows as he stared down at his intertwined fingers.

"The Guardians of the Galaxy have been....kidnapped." He finally said as he looked up and around at all of us.

"By who?" Marvel and Steve asked at the same time.

"The dark figure from the other universe. It seems." Fury shook his head as he leaned back in his chair.

"When was this?" Black Panther asked.

"Moments ago." Fury replied. He pressed a button under his spot on the table and a small holographic device appeared in the center of the table. It began playing Star Lord's feed and audio, you could hear Fury and myself talking to the Guardians. The Avengers and allies watched as the Guardians escaped the planet but none of them seemed to notice the figure like I did. He paused the video once the Guardians cleared the atmosphere and looked around to everyone.

"Did you see it?" He asked.

"See what?" Steve asked him as he raised a brow and looked at Fury. Fury slowly rewound the video and paused it where I did. He zoomed in on the figure and that's when everyone tensed up and leaned forward to get a better look.

"We don't know who he is. But Loki says he's the man from another universe." Fury said as he hit play and let it go. My scream was the last thing they heard before the audio cut to a high pitched sound. Fury rewound the video again and paused it just as Drax looked to the side, revealing the man. 

"Can your people get a clear picture of him from this?" Bruce asked as he looked over at Fury with his  brows raised.

"I don't know." Fury sighed as he looked to the scientist.

"Send it to me. My people will try." Black Panther offered.

"Already on it." Fury nodded to him.

"What do we know so far?" Steve asked as he leaned forward on the table and looked back at the paused image.

"Planets that sit 4 away from their suns have been destroyed in a descending pattern. We're number two on that list." Tony replied.

"That is, if there even is a list and this isn't some random doing. We could be number one, number two or number one hundred." He added.

"So, it wasn't a star explosion destroying those planets." Bruce lightly scoffed as he leaned back in his chair.

"No." Tony shook his head as he joined him and leaned back too.

"Based on the evidence so far, there is a pattern. He's going galaxy by galaxy, taking the fourth planet with him." Bruce argued as he sat back up and looked over at Tony.

"What's so special about the fourth planets though?" Peter chimed in.

"Prima T.L, Galton 4 and Tronlet are all class M planets. They're all planets that humanoid lifeforms live on. The only inhabited planets in their respected systems. After Earth is Obreanua." I explained as I looked down the table to Peter.

"He's doing what he did in his own universe. I saw it in the memories of the CTS. He destroys planets and has his world eater consume every bit of it. Only saving those who promised to server for him. Those he distilled fear into." Loki's words were low but loud enough for everyone to hear him clearly.

"So, we need to evacuate the next planet and Earth?" Sam asked.

"No, we don't have the money or resources for that." Fury shook his head as he looked around the table.

"We're gonna have to fight him. Send one team off to Tronlet to gather info and watch his movements while the rest of us prepare for the fight here." Fury announced as he stood up from his chair.

"I shall call upon Asgardian warriors to assist us." Thor proclaimed as he nodded to Fury.

"I'll get my army together too." Black Panther nodded to the men.

"I'll contact all of the military forces the United States owns and bring them up to speed." Hill said as she uncrossed her arms.

"I'll spread the word through my connections." Nat added.

"Coulson, contact the President and have him call for a world-wide leader meeting. Even North Korea. We need everyone in on this." Fury ordered his agent.

"The rest of you, go talk to your enemies. This isn't justice we're fighting for. This is a war for the world. All hands on deck type of thing." Fury said as he looked around the table at the Avengers.

"Who's the away team?" Steve suddenly asked. The group looked around at one another, deciding who would be best for the mission.

"It's a suicide mission." Wanda replied, crossing her arms.

"The Guardians couldn't even get away. They have one of the fastest ship in the galaxies." Bucky scoffed.

"Someone fast needs to go. Stealthy and fast. Get information and get off the planet." Tony added as he looked down the table at the others.

"I'll go." Captain Marvel volunteered.

"No." Fury quickly shut that idea down.

"No offense to the rest of ya, but you're one of my strongest players." Fury said as he looked at the woman.

"I need you here with me." He added.

"Then who?" She asked, crossing her arms. Fury went silent for a moment but I could tell he already had his pick in mind, he just didn't want to say it. He looked down to the table and then looked up ad over at Loki and I.

"Loki." He answered. My heart sank to my feet and I felt sick just thinking about the danger he would be in. He made me angry, but I did still...love him.

"And Alex." Fury added, his voice low. My heart leaped back up through my body and into my throat as my eyes went wide.

"What?!" Tony harshly asked as he snapped his eyes to Fury.

"She's Loki's partner. He goes, she goes." Fury shrugged a little.

"Since when?? She's my partner." Peter asked as he leaned looked over at me.

"Since 30 minutes ago. He's back, she's his partner again." Fury answered as he glared at the man.

"You can't-" 

"She can't go." Tony harshly scoffed, interrupting Peter.

"I ain't got time to play favorites right now, Tony! This is important shit and Loki is the best for the job! It also helps that Alex can use her powers, easier for them to travel and sneak around." Fury harshly said as he looked at the billionaire.

"If shit goes South, he can always call on Heindell or whatever the fuck his name is to get them out! It's safer for everyone!" He yelled out. The room went silent and I could feel a few eyes on me as I stared at Loki. He was staring down at the table, his brows crunched in thought.

"I can go alone." He suddenly said as he looked over at Fury.

"What?? No!" I harshly said as I crossed my arms. It was terrifying, the thought of going to a doomed planet just for information. The risk of being caught or killed. But I knew I couldn't let Loki go alone. Not this time.

"Alex-" Fury started to argue his decision but I bet him to it.

"Fury is right, you and I have the best set of powers for this mission. We know for a fact that I can control the elements on Tronlet." 

"It would be better if I went alone. I don't need to worry about someone getting in my way." Loki harshly said as he glared at me.

"Too damn bad! You're going, together!" Fury shouted out.

And with that Fury ended the meeting and everyone quickly left to gather their forces. I walked into the hall and found Bucky and Sam waiting for me by the door. Bucky put his arm around my shoulder and smiled as we walked together to the elevator. Steve, Nat, Clint, Thor, Wanda and Black Panther all left on the first elevator down. Peter, Eddie, Bruce, Ant-Man, Sam, Bucky and I waited for the next one. Tony stayed back to talk to Fury, Captain Marvel flew out of the window, War Machine followed her and Strange just vanished.

"Hey, I'm Scott Lang, nice to meet you." Ant-Man said as he smiled and extended his hand out to me. I politely shook it and introduced myself.

"I'm Alex."

"I know." He laughed. His eyes went wide and Bucky raised a brow at this.

"Oh, like, not in a weird way or anything. I'm not weird or anything. I was in the room with you guys when Fury said your name and all." He awkwardly laughed.

"B-But, also, I've studied your body. I mean! I've studied what the explosion did to you!" Scott was a very nervous and goofy man. I chuckled at him and he relaxed a little and awkwardly smiled as he looked down to the floor.

"It was a pretty miraculous thing that happened to her." Bucky replied, looking over at me. 

"Can't believe you didn't die from that." Scott said, amazement in his voice.

"She has me to thank for that." Loki suddenly said from right next to me and smirked.

"Hi, Scott Lang." Scott said as he extended his hand out to Loki and smiled. Loki raised an annoyed brow at Scott's hand and crossed his arms, purposely ignoring him. Scott awkwardly nodded and dropped his hand as he looked down.

"Don't mind Loki. He's got the attitude of an emo teenage boy with daddy issues but he's trapped in a 5 thousand year old body." I said as I rolled my eyes and smiled at Scott.

"Ha!" Peter let out a loud laugh and Eddie laughed a little bit too. Bruce and Sam went wide in the eyes and covered their mouths with their hands.

"Shut up." Loki snapped at the man. Eddie tensed up and clenched his jaw as he glared at Loki, I could tell Venom was whispering in his ear.

"Make me." Peter harshly replied. Even when Loki and I were together, Peter still had a problem with him. He holds a lot of anger towards the God and that was dangerous because he also never knew when to back down.

"Alright boys. Enough." I rolled my eyes again and both men relaxed their tense bodies as they looked away from one another.

"Alex! Loki!" Fury yelled out from behind us. We all turned our attention to the man and I could see the anger in Tony's eyes as he stood behind Fury.

"You leave now."
