Chapter 5

16:51, 8 October 2021

I pushed the last few strands of black hair into the baseball cap on Loki's head and smiled. He adjusted it a bit better, so that it wasn't so on his eyes, and then patted down his shirt. I had him conjure up a plain dark green t-shirt, a leather jacket and a pair of dark grey jeans. I asked him to put on different shoes but he refused to take his boots off.

"And what will you be telling your new boss?" He asked as he looked down at the small contact container in my hands. I had him conjure that up too. Who knew having someone like him around would make things so easy?

"That I'm going to bed early. He has no right to enter my room after I say goodnight. That'd be weird." I laughed as I opened the container and placed my finger on one of the brown contacts. Loki forced his eye open and flinched as I placed the contact over his green eyes.

"And what happens when we get caught?" He asked as I placed the other contact in. He blinked a few times and reached up to rub his eyes. I grabbed his hands to stop him and shook my head no as I pushed them down.

"We won't. We'll just take a walk around the block and come back." I shrugged when I let his hands go.

"Just a walk around the block?" He asked as he crossed his arms. Loki looked so foreign to me in normal clothes and with brown eyes. This disguise would definitely fool other people.

"Just a walk around the block." I nodded. He rolled his eyes and then a copy that looked like the real Loki appeared next to me. I jumped a little and he chuckled.

"I'll never get used to that." I laughed as I put my hand through the copy and stared at it.

"Alright. Time to go to bed." I said as I quickly left the bathroom and walked down the hall to the living room. Mr. Stark and Pepper were cuddled on the couch and Thor was already passed out in the loveseat.

"Hey kid, join us." Mr. Stark offered as he patted the seat next to him.

"You know, I'd love to but I'm so tired." I said, faking a yawn. Loki's clone appeared next to me and I jumped, not expecting him to be there. I told him to come in from the balcony.

"Jesus! Stop scaring Alex." Mr. Stark seemed to like the little confusion earlier with Thor thinking I thought Loki was Jesus. He's called Loki Jesus twice in the past hour.

"I can show you to your room." Pepper began to get off of the couch but I motioned for her to stay.

"No, you look comfortable. You said my room was next to Loki's, he can show me." I said as I looked to the clone. Loki's clone shrugged and walked away, waving goodnight to the others. I said a quick goodnight and followed him down the hall to the elevator.

"I figured it would look more natural if I scared you." His clone laughed. I rolled my eyes but didn't argue, he was right. It only made sense since he's been scaring me all night so far.

We rode the elevator down 3 floors below Mr. Stark's personal living space and the doors opened up to another living room. I stepped out and admired the room. It looked similar to Mr. Stark's room, furniture placement wise, but color wise it looked like a palace. The floor was white marble and the walls were a beautiful cream color with gold trimming all around them. The walls were bare, no pictures or painting had been hung up but I had a feeling that was on purpose. There was also no T.V or bar area like Mr. Starks' living room. But again, I had a feeling the Nordic God's requested it to be like that.

"This is where Thor and I stay when we visit. We have 3 bedrooms here, that's why he offered one to you." Loki's clone explained as we walked further into the area. It was smaller than Mr. Stark's living room but still pretty big compared to the apartment I moved into.

Loki suddenly appeared and his clone disappeared as he walked me down the hall. The first door had a ton of drawings of Thor done by young fans. He had plastered them all over the place, some overlapping one another. I admired how cute that was and Loki rolled his eyes as he continued walking. The next door two doors were plain. He knocked on the very last one and looked at me.

"Your room." He said. I opened the door and walked inside. It was a cute, simple room. It had a gold and white color scheme as well and the bed sheets were silk. The bed was extremely large and there was only one other item in the room, an oak dresser. It reminded me of a royal palace, which I assume was the point. Loki suddenly appeared in my room and I jumped as I looked at him.

"Lock your door, just in case." He said as he smirked. I locked the lock on my doorknob and he suddenly grabbed my arm. We disappeared from the room and reappeared right outside of Mr. Stark's building.

"Lead the way." Loki smiled as he let me go.

"Ummm. I'm new to the city too, so I have no idea where to go." I laughed.

"Then we shall go that way." Loki nodded to the left and I shrugged as I started walking. We walked down the street and then took a few more turns before I realized how far we were getting from the building. No one had given us any attention, meaning the disguise was working as planned.

"So, you're new to the city?" He suddenly asked me as we walked past a group of teenagers hanging out with their skateboards propped up next to them.

"Yeah. I moved here yesterday actually. I did a zoom interview with Mr. Stark and the second he told me I was hired I was on a plane with all of my belongings." I laughed.

"Is this place different from where you were before?" He asked me as we turned another corner.

"Very. I come from a small town. Like, small. It's a huge change living in a city so...big and busy like this one." I admitted. I felt so nervous when I moved here. Nervous I wouldn't make friends, nervous Mr. Stark would hate me in person and fire me right then and there, nervous about how I would adjust. But I seem to be doing okay so far.

"What about you? How different is this from Asgard?" I asked him. We entered a small park with a medium sized lake sitting in the middle of it. The moonlight reflected off the lake and everything around it was bright, as if the sun was shining down on it.

"Not as different but also very different." He simply replied.

"Wow, that was such a clear answer. Thanks." I poked fun at him as we stopped on the edge of the lake. I stared out at the water and watched small ripped destroy the perfect reflection of the moon.

"It's the same as in...lived in. You can feel the life of the city here, as you can in Asgard. But Asgard has more....magic to it. While here, here has more innocence to it. More people being free to do as they please and not worry about tradition or harsh rules. In Asgard, when you walk down the street you know each person you pass is a warrior. They would die for their world without even being asked to. But people here wouldn't. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing either. It's refreshing to see so many people and all of their opinions about their world." He explained as he watched the water too.

"That's actually a really beautiful look at the subject." I admitted as I knelt down and swirled my first two fingers in the water.

"Do you enjoy the water?" He asked as he knelt down next to me.

"I do." I nodded. The water around my fingers suddenly lifted and thick strands began to slowly fly around my hand and wrist. I pulled my finger from the water and lifted my hand in the air as I watched it in awe. It was beautiful. The water danced around my skin, but never once touched it. It swam through my fingers and around my wrist like a small fish.

"That's amazing." I whispered as the water strands slowly dove back into the water and settled in it's rightful place.

"Tell me, Alex, do you have ice skating where you are from?" He suddenly asked as he stood up. I followed suit and raised s curious brow.

"Ice skating?" I laughed a little.

"Yes. I learned of ice skating a few years ago and taught myself how to do it. Its actually quite enjoyable." He nodded.

"Interesting. But, no. Too small of a town to have rinks. Town couldn't afford something like that and most people wouldn't go to it." I shrugged. Loki smirked at me and I just knew he was up to something. He turned away from me and took a step towards the water. I reached out to stop him from falling in, but he didn't. The water under his feet turned to ice every step he took. Once he left a spot, the ice melted back into water. I quickly looked around for any sign of others and then back at him. His eyes were so bright they were glowing under his contacts.

"Come on." He motioned for me to join him. I laughed and shook my head as I looked around at the water in front of me.

"No way! This is just a trick to make me fall in!" I replied with a smile on my face.

"I promise you. This one is no trick." He said as he walked back towards me. He extended his hand to me and I inhaled as I slowly reached out to him. I placed my hand in his and with one quick motion I was pulled from the shore and in the middle of the lake. The water below my feet was frozen solid and every step I took was greeted with more frozen water.

"This is amazing." I laughed as I watched the water below me while I walked around.

"Don't you know any other words?" Loki asked as he skated past me. I noticed he was wearing black skates now, there was a hint of green aura on them as he continued down his own ice path.

"Astonishing. Glorious. Perplexing. Curious. Breathtakingly unbelievable!" I dramatically answered as I slowly walked towards him. He laughed and came to a stop in front of me. He took my hands and I suddenly felt myself being lifted up and off balance. I looked down and let out an amazed scoff at the dark green skates on my feet. Loki held me still and slowly skated backwards, gently pulling me forward. I stumbled and wiggled a few times, almost falling right on my face, but Loki saved me.

"Ice skating is easy. Just let the skates take you. Glide with the ice." He softly said as he turned and hooked my arm to his. We slowly skated forward and then back where we came from. Loki smiled down at me as he guided me around the small body of water, careful to take it slow so I didn't fall. The wind gently blew in my face and I closed my eyes as I inhaled and let myself go. I felt my skates being taken with the direction of the ice and just felt so...free.

"You're doing really good for your first time." Loki suddenly said. I felt so lost in the wind I forgot he was even there. I looked up at him and he suddenly let me go, a smirk forming on his face. I looked down to my feet with wide eyes and prayed I didn't face plant right then and there.

"Just calm down. Don't focus too hard." He called out as I glided further away from him. I took his advice and inhaled as I calmed myself down. I relaxed and let the skates take me where they wanted. I did a small turn and skated back towards Loki, watching his smirk turn into a proud smile.

Loki and I skated together for about an hour before he finally thought I was good enough to do it on my own, for real. He let me go and urged me to keep going towards the other side of the lake, alone.

"See! Easy." He laughed as he quickly skated past me. Being around him felt so magical, but not in a 'because of his abilities' kinda way. Something about him was so pure and yet so mysterious. I wanted to know more about him, see more of the world with him. Experience new things and have more fun with him.

I had never met anyone like him in my life.
