Relationship

09:27, 4 November 2024

Few months later.

Time passed by fast, and Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen continued their daily interactions which gradually increased since the world is currently peaceful. And because it is (peaceful), many people, especially sect (unmarried) leaders, followed their example to get married since they don't have anything to worry about like walking corpses now. It is time for them to worry about their love life. Though, they did not intend to necessarily marry a fellow sect leader. After all, their sects are not big like the YunmengJiang Sect and GusuLan Sect. They don't need to enter a political marriage like Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen.

Speaking of โ€“

"Thank you for attending our wedding, sect leader Jiang. Sect leader Lan!" the groom, who is also a sect leader, thanked the pair looking so flattered that they attended. After all, the GusuLan Sect and YunmengJiang Sect are the most powerful sects lately after LanlingJin Sect and QingheNie Sect have fallen with the former (LLJ Sect) being criticized due to its former sect leader, Jin Guangyao's, crime. Meanwhile the latter have withdrawn (maybe temporarily) for its current sect leader, Nie Huaisang, to mourn for his elder brother.

Jiang Cheng nodded while Lan Xichen has a smile on his face. "You are welcome." They both said.

"Hey, look at them so in sync!" the bride whispered to her groom as they walked away to greet the other guests. "It seems like their marriage is perfect unlike what we hear from the other people!" she said when she recalled people gossiping how the two sect leaders were forced to the arranged marriage. Looking at the couple now, it was definitely voluntary! (A/N: oh, if you only knew, girl...)

The groom nodded in agreement. "We really shouldn't listen to baseless rumors." He said.

"Sect leader Lan, sect leader Jiang. Thank you very much for attending my son's wedding!" the father of the groom, who is also a sect leader, said with a big smile on his face.

"Thank you for inviting us, too." Lan Xichen said.

The sect leader chuckled. "Well, sect leader Lan and sect leader Jiang's marriage made me realize that we are really in a peaceful era now, so it is time for the spring* to come." He said and looked at his son, the groom, who is gently looking at the bride. He recalled how his son liked the girl but can't openly express his feelings due to the war against the fierce corpses last time. Now that everything was settled, his son could finally marry the girl he liked.

*love/romance

Jiang Cheng nodded in agreement. "Yes. Lan Huan and I will be an example..." he said. After all, he was also reminded by his marriage with Lan Xichen that the war (against walking corpses) was really gone and peace has finally started.

Lan Xichen paused and looked at him, but seeing him chatting with the sect leader, he didn't say anything.

"Ah! Sect leader Lan, sect leader Jiang! You are here!" another sect leader called and approached them.

"Hello..." they greeted him.

"What's the matter?" Lan Xichen asked.

"Ah, I just like an advice..." the sect leader said and shared his dilemma. It turned out that his son liked a boy. Even though homos*xuality was finally recognized due to Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji as its precedent, not everyone can accept it (yet). "It is not that I am angry... I am just worried." He explained.

Lan Xichen nodded in understanding. "We understand that not everyone is accepting of cut-sleeves." He spoke.

The sect leader looked at him, feeling ashamed, since the pair in front of him are cut-sleeves.

"It is nothing to be ashamed of." Jiang Cheng said. Didn't he marry a man? (LQR: no, if it is you, you would even marry a dog, so there is no difference if you will marry a man or a dog) "It was with the one he likes that your son will later live with, not with everybody, so why care about what the people will say?" he asked and shrugged indifferently. "What matters here is your son and the other person's feelings toward each other." He told him.

The sect leader's eyes brightened, a dawning expression on his face. "Sect leader Jiang is right!" he said. "No wonder your relationship is so good!" he said and looked at Lan Xichen, who smiled.

Jiang Cheng nodded. "Lan Huan and I go way back when we were studying in the Cloud Recesses, so..." he spoke.

Lan Xichen glanced at him. He felt something wasn't right, but couldn't put a word on it. It was then when someone approached them that he finally figured it out.

"What? Fighting?" Lan Xichen was surprised when they heard that the brother of the woman fought with his (male) partner and the two were bruised. It was only her and her brother relying on each other in this life, so she is worried for him, especially after her brother told her before that he was a cut-sleeve.

"Yes. They weren't like this before, but I think that something has happened that is why it escalated to this..." the woman said, looking very anxious. "So... so I can't help but seek sect leader Lan and sect leader Jiang, seeing your marriage life is good..." she said and looked at them.

"Lan Huan and I are adults who know what we are doing." Jiang Cheng spoke. "If there is a disagreement, being physical (violent) to each other is not the answer. Instead, you have to talk about it with each other." He explained. "Ask them the root cause of the problem, and..." he said.

Lan Xichen stared at Jiang Cheng. He now realized that Jiang Cheng didn't call him 'husband'.ย

(A/N: sorry for disappearing for half a year. Real life is just >.< I will update if I have time again. For today, I will try and see if I can finish this fanfic!)
