Dumbledores Army
04:07, 5 August 2024It's been winter for a while but now it is finally snowing, the favorite time of winter when it is cold enough to cuddle in front of a fire with hot coco that I snuck from the Great Hall and kept warm with a charm.
But that will have to wait because Mione had the bright idea to pull me aside a week ago and ask if I would be willing to teach a Defense Against the Dark arts class.....
A secret club where I would teach a select few how to defend themselves since Umbridge isn't doing it. And since I was taught by Snape I apparently became the go to student for the teaching position... A Fifth Year
I said yes of course, I would also like to practice my spells and teaching is fine with me. They have to learn somehow, and if it has to be from me then so be it.----
I looked at Hermione. "So, exactly who is supposed to be meeting us? Cause the school has a lot of people."
"Just a couple of people." Hermione pushed open the door to Hog's Head.
"Lovely spot." Ron looked around at the restaurant with only the owners and their goat keeping the place alive.
Hermione walked in. "Thought it would be safer off the beaten track." I followed her in then Ron and Harry after. "Just be glad I found a place." Hermione led us through the empty dining area and into a back room. "They should be arriving any minute."
Hermione moved chairs to the front where I am guessing we will sit, I walked back to the dining room and gathered more chairs for the few people that are coming.
The Weasley twins then walked in. ""Hey Liv.""
I smiled. "Hey, Tweedles."
"You need any help?"
"Just a couple more chairs will do it I believe. Mione didn't tell me exactly how many people were coming."
The twins grabbed their own chairs. "Alright"
I lifted my chairs up and took them to the back room. "Twins are here." I announced to the room and the twins walked in after.
""Hello."" They set the chairs down.
Cedric then walked in with Cho. "Hey guys."
I smiled. "Hey Ric. Hey Cho." She smiled and waved.
"Hey, Liv." Cedric chose a seat with Cho next to him. "You ready?"
I shrugged. "We'll see."
Ginny, Neville, Luna, and a few others I recognize walked into the room.
I moved to Mione when I saw the strangers eyeing me. "They hate me."
"They don't hate you." I raised a brow, she chuckled. "You aren't mean like other Slytherins."
"And what about my parents?"
Mione frowned. "It will be fine." A few more students walked in and eyed me, I sighed and took a seat in the front. "Don't worry."
I nodded. "Yea, sure." (I really could care less if they want me to teach them or not.)
Student after student walked in and sat down until we had a small group sitting and waiting for the meeting to start. Hermione, Harry, and I sat in front, and Ron on the side.
I nodded to Hermione, she nodded back and stood up. "Um, Hi." Everyone looked at her. "So you all know why we're here. We need a teacher... A proper teacher. One who has a broad knowledge of Defense Against the Arts."
"Why?" A boy asked.
"Why?" Ron repeated. "Because You-Know-Who's back, you tosspot."
The boy looks at Harry. "So he says."
"So Dumbledore says." Hermione says back.
"So Dumbledore says because he says. The point is, where is the proof?"
(Is this how it is going to be?)"You don't believe he is back." I looked at them and raised a brow. "Right? You all believe Voldemort is gone, well he isn't. If you can't believe Harry Potters or Dumbledores word, then don't." I shrugged. (If I learned something over the years is that forcing people to believe is not the way to go.)"I will not force beliefs onto you. But I promise I will teach you everything I know so if one day you do believe you will be ready. Because in the future, no matter where that leads you, you will need it when you stare into the eyes of someone pointing their wand at you with the intent to harm you. Because out there there is not thick brick walls to protect you, there is nothing but you and your own knowledge to save you when that time comes."
"And why should we trust you?" A boy in the front asked.
"In what sense? In the sense that I will teach you correctly or the sense that I might be the bad guy because of the man who shared half of his DNA to create me?"They stayed quiet, I nodded. "Defending yourself in real life is not like school. In school, if you make a mistake, if you hesitate, you can just back track a little or try again another day." I shrugged and sat up in my seat. "But out there.. when you're a second away from being murdered, you don't have a redo, you don't have a second chance. There is no tomorrow if you are not prepared today." I leaned back and crossed my arms.
"Bloody hell, Liv." Ron breathed, I shrugged.
Mione grabbed my hand. "That's why we need your knowledge if we're going to have any chance at beating... Voldemort." Hermione forced the name from her lips, I looked at her and gave a slightly smile.
"He's really back?" A boy asked.
Harry nodded. "Yes."
"Well." Cedric stood up. "I believe Harry, and Dumbledore. And I sure as hell trust Liv so where do I sign my name?"
The twins stood up. ""Us too.""
I smiled and looked at Mione. "I think we need a paper or something."
She stood up and took out a paper from her pocket and a pencil. "Everyone who wished to join form a line." She moved to the table that was to the side and put down the paper and pencil. "What do we call this?"
"How about DA Club?" I shrugged. "Defensive Arts."
"Dumbledores Army." Harry said softly.
I shrugged. "That too."
Mione smiled and wrote in big letters. |Dumbledores Army.|
. . .
We walked down the bridge towards the school, our list of club members in Mione pocket and the start date pending as we find a place to actually host the club without Umbridge knowing.
"What about the Shrieking Shack?" I put out there. "All we need to do is make sure everyone knows Immobulus and they can take the tunnels."
"I don't think that building is most stable for a class. Plus we can't use magic out of school." Mione put down that idea.
"Any ideas from the back?" I looked back to the Weasleys, Harry, Neville and Cedo, they all either shook their head or shrugged. "Great." I turned back to the front. "Well we have to find a place where Umbridge won't find out."
"What happens if Umbridge does find out?" Ginny asked.
"Who cares." Mione said happily, I raised a brow. "I mean it's sort of exciting, isn't it?. Breaking the rules."
"Who are you and what have you don't with Hermione?" Ron scoffed.
I linked out arms. "I knew I would wear you down some day." She smiled. "What about the forbidden forest?"
""No."" They all said.
I chuckled. "Alright. But we still need to find a place. Just think about it over the next few days. It had to be big and hidden." We walked into the school. "I'll see you all later." They all said bye and left except for my three fifth year friends. "How about the Chamber?"
""No."" They all said.
I smiled. "Maybe I shouldn't be the one to pick." I chuckled.
