Spinster's End
04:07, 5 August 2024After I packed my things at the Grangers, had a last good luck meal, and said my goodbyes I took a night bus, which was really cool, to Spinster's End where Snapes house is.
Snape ended up meeting me at the road in his normal deadpanned expression, long black cloak which still looked awesome. His annoyed eyes directly staring at me as I arrived later then I told him.
I smiled and hauled my trunk off. "Hey, Severus."
"Miss Kimberly." He droned a greeting.
"Actually I was hoping to talk to you about that." He raised a brow, I stopped in front of him and my trunk lifted off the ground. "Oh, thanks."
"It is nothing." He walked into the dreary neighborhood, I followed. "What we're you going to say?"
"Oh. I was wondering how I would go about changing my name." Snape looked at me with a raised brow. "I wanted to change it to Olivia Seraphina Solace."
Snape looked back to where we were walking. "You would have to send a official document to the Ministry, from their they will handle their file and the muggle file system."
I nodded. "How do I get the document?"
"Why do you wish to change your name? If you change it your identity won't be hidden as much as it is now."
"As I told my friends. It is inevitable that I will remain hidden forever and when the time comes when the man who made me or another comes I wish to have my mothers name."
"I will send for the document."
I smiled. "Thank you." I looked around. "How long have you lived here?"
"I was raised here."
My lips pressed together. (No wonder why he is cold.)"Do you live with anyone else?"
"No." He deadpanned as we neared a house. "You will be on the second floor, second room on the right." Snape opened the door and walked in. "If you need me I'll be in the study." My suitcase took itself up the stairs and Snape went into a room down the hall.
(Talk about a man's house being just like him.)Even though the outside was drab, cold, and dreary, the inside was not. Inside it is a normal home, even though it had monotone color it was lit brightly. It was homely.
I walked up the stairs and to the bedroom door where my trunk was waiting patiently for me. "I love magic." I opened the door.
Wooden floors, three out of the four walls made of drywall, the fourth a brick wall that had a green bed frame pushed against it.
All of the furniture looked brand new, smelled brand new too. (Please don't tell me he renovated this room for me. I didn't want to burden him.)
I moved my trunk to the wardrobe that was on the opposite wall of the bed and started to unpack. Thankfully the trunks were big enough, with the help of magic, to hold all of my personal belongings from the Grangers house that I owned over the three years I was there.
After I finished I went downstairs and towards the room where I saw Snape enter, I knocked, opened the door and peaked my head in.
Snape had a pile of books floating next to him as he searched the shelves. "Yes?" He closed the book in his hand and looked at me.
I opened the door more. "Thank you for making the room for me. I didn't expect it."
"The room was in need of a renovation." The book floated back to its spot. "You simply gave me a reason to finally complete it."
I smiled. "Sure." Snape rolled his eyes. "Are you busy?"
The books that were floating next to Snape went to the small table. "What is it you wish to ask?" He turned to me with his hands now clasped in front of him.
I walked in the room but stayed near the door. "Multiple things." Snape raised a brow. "Um... How are we- What is my roll here? I don't want to be a leach. I can cook and clean or whatever you need, I just don't want to sit around and do nothing."
Snape turned back to his shelf. "You do realize this isn't a muggle house hold.. Everything you could do I can do faster with magic." He picked a book out of the shelf and threw it gently into the air, it floated to his pile.
My hands went in my pocket. "Well maybe a nice muggle home cooked meal would taste better." Snape turned to me. "Maybe while we eat you can give me pointers on how to survive the Dark Side since at some point that is where I am going to be."
Snape eyed me. "Alright... But if your cooking isn't good you won't step foot in the kitchen." He sat down in his chair and grabbed a book.
I smiled. "Thanks." Snape nodded. "Well, I leave you to your book reading. Thank you for housing me, I really do appreciate it."
Snape opened a book. "Just make sure it is edible when you make the food."
I smiled. "I have made whole families food before." Snape glanced at me above his book. "Perks of my childhood, and being with the Grangers."
Snape looked back down. "Is that all, Miss K-Solace?"
I smiled. (I like that.)"I was wondering one more thing."
Snape leaned his book to rest the top of it on his chest. "Yes?"
"Well, I was wondering if you might want to teach me how to duel?" Snapes eyes widened slightly with a hint of delight. "I heard that in the home of a wizarding family, it is up to the adults to enforce the rules for underage members of the household."
"That is correct." Snape informed, I nodded. "If that is what you wish I guess I can teach you."
I nodded. "As much as I am optimistic I am also pessimistic and I foresee me needing the knowledge in the future."
Snape nodded and lifted his book back into his gaze. "Most people would call that realistic more then pessimistic."
I smiled. "Peoples realities make them optimistic or pessimistic." Snape glance at me. "Alight. I'll find you when dinner is ready."
"Don't destroy my kitchen." Snape droned.
I smiled. "Why? You can just fix it with magic." Snape glared, I chuckled you see my breath. "I'm joking. Focus on your reading." I backed out of the room and closed the door.
---------. . . -----
Over the summer the attic became my Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom for Professor Serious Snape.
Let's just say I know how much he loves it by the look in his eyes, he is both a great Potions and Defense teacher and I hope one day he finally gets to be the Defense since it seems he likes that more.
Over the summer dueling was a after dinner routine when he was home, the whole return of the Dark Lord has also effected Snape, he is out for meetings or whatnot some nights.
But when he was home for after dinner classes he made me form combinations of spells in my mind and duel him. It helped when I needed to think fast, which Snape made sure I did, I got hit... multiple times but it wasn't anything significant, Snape used un-harmful spells like the leg-lock curse or disarming spell.
I didn't, I used all the spells I knew except from the most damaging and some new spells Snape taught me which apparently would be taught in my years at Hogwarts. I also learned one he made which sounds like he really had a bad childhood, but it was nice to know in case of emergency. Snape also taught me the counter, or healing, spell for the Snape made spell, just in case I messed up. .I send word to the Ministry. I am officially Olivia Seraphina Solace, age 16 which I turned over the summer.
It's still weird that I am one of those kids that turns the age a year above my grade a little to late so I am one of the eldest in my classes. Mione and Ron is the same but I turn a year above months before them, Harry's the little baby.
I also was given lessons in shielding my mind, Snape called it Occlumency...Snape failed to mention it had to do with him forcing himself in my mind, reviving memories. But I ended up learning it, along with Snape seeming to look at me with a slight more pity, but only slight.
Now it comes time for school, just a day away...
