Goodbye, Professor
04:07, 5 August 2024Turns out when you get a claw scratch by a werewolf you are supposed to immediately go to an infirmary to stop the bleeding. Just like every cut you get.
I didn't. I instead ran to help Sirius, instead of myself. Then proceeded to stand up really fast and make myself dizzy, which made me vulnerable in the presence of Dementors who then decided to suck my happiness.
Which lead me to pass out, then that lead to me coming to the infirmary to be a neighbor to Ron with his leg cast. But now Ron is getting a crutch for his leg and I'm just getting a re-patch for my abdomen where three claws scratched.
The infirmary doors opened and Lupin walked in looking guiltily sad, a cane in one hand helping him walk and a bag and coat in the other.
I frowned. "Are you leaving?" The lady left and I pulled down my shirt.
Lupin walked to me and sat on the cot over. "I resigned."
"Is it because of me?" I frowned. "Lupin it's fine you don't have to leave."
Lupin held up a hand. "My condition slipped into the school, I resigned because I know parents will not want me to be allowed to teach their kids."
I grabbed my shoes from under the bed. "But your the best Defense teacher I've had." I looked at the cuts on his face. "Have you gotten that looked at?"
Lupin smiled. "After what I've done you still care about me."
"Hey." I said sternly. "You weren't in control. I told you to stop hating yourself so much." I loosened the laces of the shoes to slip them on easier.
"Scars from my kind can't be healed, it's permanent."
I raised a brow. "So is the deep cut I got from a hippogriff." I lifted up my shirt. "And this one I got from the in the closet drunk foster parent who thought it was a good idea to play with knives." I pulled my shirt back down and pushed my shirt off my shoulder. "And these indents from another foster parents nails that for some reason won't heal." I pulled it back up and looked at him. "I have many scars with stories that are far worse than yours. Plus, who gets to say I got this from my werewolf friend? I think it's cool."
Lupin smiled sadly. "You have had a difficult life, Olivia."
I smiled. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." Lupin smiled. "I'm going to miss you. You actually were so close to becoming my favorite teacher I'd ever had."
Lupin smiled. "What changed that?"
"You resigned." Lupin rolled his eyes, I smiled. "By the way, I've seemed to have lost my dog; golden eyes, black fur, protector against the full moon wolves."
"Sounds familiar."
I nodded. "Well if you see him can you kick his ass for leaving without a goodbye? I would so greatly appreciate it."
Lupin chuckled under his breath. "I'll see what I can do." I smiled, Lupin stood up, I frowned. "We will see each other in the future, don't worry."
"I'll hold you to that... I mean it." I pointed at him. "I better see you or else I'll hunt you down and hex you."
Lupin smiled. "Goodbye, Olivia."
I smiled softly. "Goodbye, Lupin. It won't be the same without you here... work may actually get done."
Lupin slowly walked away. "I always thought, hand on, was the way kids remembered the lesson best." He looked at me. "Plus I have to have some fun as well."
I smiled. "I had fun." Lupin smiled. "Bye."
"Farewell." Lupin gave one last smile and walked out of the infirmary.
Ron crutched around his cot and towards the infirmary door, I joined him and we walked together until we arrived at the Great Hall where breakfast was ending.
I walked over to Mione and sat down. "Hey."
Mione smiled. "How are you feeling?"
I shrugged. "Like I have a patch on my abdomen and that my skin is stitching itself back together." I platted a couple sausages and a croissant. "I miss him already." I chuckled. "I guess now you know why I always had that bag."
"It's a Time-Turner." Mione said. My brows furrowed and I looked at her. "The way I have been getting around is by traveling back in time and taking a different class during the same time."
My eyes widened. "You have a time machine?" I whispered.
She nodded. "There are so many rules though. It's not to be taken lightly."
I nodded. "Time is a dangerous thing."
Ron sat down at the table and started to plate food, Mione turned to him. "How's the leg?"
"They didn't have to chop it off." Ron side smirked, Mione smiled and turned back to her food.
Owls came from up above, dropping packages. "Incoming." I covered my head with one of my hands like I always do to protect my noggin. "Let's hope Errol doesn't deliver anything."
"Hey." Ron pouted, I smiled. A long package landed on the table, Ron read the name on the package. "Don't tell me he got another one." He eyed the obvious broom that was wrapped in brown paper.
The twins sat down opposite of us. "Well, go on. Open it."
Ron shook his head. "It's Harry's."
Another box fell, this one smaller and with my name on it. "Who?" I slid the note from out of the string holding the small box closed.
--------------------O,I'm sorry I couldn't stay and give you a farewell before I left. I thank you for all you have done for me and wish you the best. If you ever need me use the mirror inside the box.
It is a two-way mirror, I've got the other one of the pair. If you need to speak to me, just say my name into it; you'll appear in my mirror and I'll be able to talk in yours.
If you need anything I am here,Gold
- And keep this between you and me, I don't have one for Harry. --------------------
"What's that?" Mione asked, I handed her the mirror. "I've heard of theses types of mirrors.
I untied the string on the box and lifted off the air suctioned cardboard lid to reveal a small rectangle compact mirror with a rainbow peacock on the front.
Mione looked at the small mirror. "What is it?"
"A wizard telephone." I chuckled, Ron began to sneak a peak at the wrapped broom. "Ron. It's Harry's."
"I'm just- Bloody hell!" He pulled it completely open, a badass broom was revealed. "A Firebolt." Ron gasped.
""Fastest broom there is."" The twins said together with a 'We are never going to lose at Quidditch' smile.
Everyone started to crowd around us to get a peak of the broom. "Yea, no." I swung my feet out of the bench and grabbed my plate. "Let me out of the human bubble."
"Stand back everyone." Ron used his arm to push people back. "Stand back, I said! Or I'll take it upstairs if you don't settle down."
They moved out of my way. "Thank you Ron." I stood up and moved down where the human bubble couldn't interfere with me.
"Harry!" Neville ran to the Great Hall entrance where Harry walked in. "Wherever did you get it?"
Seamus came behind Neville. "Can I have a go, Harry? After you, of course."
"Quiet." Ron complained as Harry approached. "Let the man through. I didn't mean to open it, Harry. It was badly wrapped. They made me do it." I smiled at Ron's lame excuses as I ate.
""Did not."" The twins said, Harry pulled back the paper. "It's a Firebolt." "It's the fastest broom in the world."
"Who sent it?" Harry looked over the broom with a smile.
"No one knows."
Mione held up one of Buckbeak feathers. "This came with it."
"Come on, Harry." "Ride it, Harry."The students started to encourage Harry to ride the broom.
"Alright." Harry picked up the broom and ran for the door, all the kids followed.
Mione stood up and looked at me. "You coming?"
I shrugged. "Sure."
I stood up and grabbed the toast with jam I prepared and followed Mione out as I ate a bite. Mione ended up pull-running me out of the castle, I stopped at the doorway and watched Harry mount the broom. Mione ran to Harry for a close up.
Harry's broom took off as if he just got whiplash. "Ahhhh!!" He flew up into the sky and was hidden by the distance and clouds.
"That was fast." I turned to go back inside when I caught Draco's eyes, I ignored and continued inside where I would pack for tomorrow's departure.
