CHAPTER TWO
23:33, 14 November 2019maria's eyes widened.
"you really are..kit?" she asked. kit nodded. she wondered how the sweet little boy she played with could be a murderer.
"did you really kill those people..?" she asked. kit shook his head.
"no, maria. i would never hurt anyone, including my wife." he said. maria nodded.
"i should get back to work." maria said as she got up.
"okay, thanks for..believing me?" kit wanted to know if she did. No words were spoken from maria, as because she didn't know if she believed the man or not.
"I'll see you later, Kit." She said. She walked away, towards the kitchen. She then saw grace, a patient that she had gotten very close with over the past six months maria had been working here. She couldn't exactly make it known that she was friends with grace, so she had to speak to her in private. She shot grace a 'meet me behind the bread stand' look. Grace knew that look all too well, so she did what the look insisted on.
"Hey, grace." Maria said. Grace smiled.
"Hey, ria." Grace replied. She had a little nickname for maria, it wasn't that shortened but it was special. Though, maria couldn't really find a nickname that would fit grace. Grace was just fine.
"How you holding up in this shit hole?" Maria asked concerned.
"The usual, been staying out of trouble though." Grace replied. Maria smiled, just happy that grace wasn't getting any spankings from sister jude, or Mary Eunice.
"That's good, I'm happy." Maria said. Grace nodded in agreement.
"So, theres this new patient that was admitted..and I believe I might know him." Maria lowered her voice, making sure none of the other patients heard her speak. If they did, they would surely tell sister jude the first chance they got. Maria was certainly the nicest nun there was, but the patients got a treat when they rat someone out. So, maria was still extra careful. Especially around grace.
"How?" Grace asked. Maria looked back at the other patients, who were kneading bread.
"Listen, meet me up in my room tonight. I'll tell you then." Maria spoke. Grace nodded, she knew she'd find a way to get there.
"Okay, got to go. See you later grace." Maria said, then rushed off out of the Kitchen. Maria walked the halls of the asylum, rushing towards peppers room because there was an emergency occurring. She walked down the hall of patients rooms, and she saw no crowd. No guards. No nothing. So, what was the emergency?
"Hey there, maria.."
Maria spun around, practically jumping at the sound of..
"Kit walker?"
Kit waved at her.
"Arent you supposed to be in your cell, or something Mr. walker?" Maria asked, folding her arms.
"Ha, funny. Jude told me I should find you, so you could take me to my room." Kit replied. Maria nodded slowly.
"Alright then, let's get movin', shall we." Maria said. Kit followed beside her, as she led him to his room. Where he'd be staying till the day he died.
"Maria, remember that summer when your dad told us about the little green men that attacked him?" Kit asked. Maria stopped walking, and turned to kit with shock across her face.
"I don't wanna talk about it." She simply stated. Kit shook his head.
"That's not very fair, Maria Lilith Johnson." He said, making her remember that he knew her as a child.
"Please, Kit. What do you want?" She said, completely drained.
"I just want you to believe me."
"Please."
She sighed again.
"You remember when he said that, don't you?" Kit asked with hope. Maria nodded.
"Yeah, then he was admitted to an asylum." Maria held a finger to kits chest.
"Just like you." She snapped. Kit scoffed.
"So, what? You think I'm crazy just like your pops? What if he was never crazy, Maria? I've seen the same things he told us about as kids." Kit said. Maria laughed.
"Or, over the years you fantasized about the little green men my father explained to us, and you made it your own personal reality."
"And look where that got you kit, in a nut house for murdering a heap load of women, including your wife."
Kit loved his wife, that's a known fact. Sadly, he didn't have anyone to back him up on that. Him and alma were forced to have a secret relationship because of Almas race.
"Maria, i never killed alma." He pled. He wanted Maria to believe him so badly, that he would do anything to prove it.
"I don't know how you think believing you is easy, Kit. For heavens sake, there's tons of crazy people in here that have told me the same fucking sad story." Maria said back. She wanted to believe kit, but she had to be sure he really was the kid she used to play with. Not a single word from his mouth could make her believe it, so she needed hard-concrete proof. And she knew just where to find it.
"It's not just a sad story, it's the truth." Kit shot back, making his voice a bit higher this time. Maria sshed him.
"If you wanna be all loud and proud, do just that. But, it won't help your case here. Be smart." Maria said. Kit clenched his fists, but released them a moment later. Maria opened kits door, and motioned for him to walk in.
"Goodnight." Kit said. Maria could see the hurt in his voice. She wouldn't have to feel bad much longer, because she was gonna find proof that Kit walker was her childhood friend. Would that force her mind to believe that Kit fantasied about the aliens, or that he was telling the truth? She somewhat did believe her father when he told her the story. Of when he was taken by the little green men. The only bit of belief that Maria had of it, was because she saw a flash of bright light the night it happened. She was only six or seven when her father was first taken by the little green men, but Maria sometimes believed that she dreamed it all. But, it felt so real. She did research over the years, of other people who had the same experiences. And some were in hiding, some were not crazy. But, she'd find out sooner or later.
