Ch 64

Temari looked completely on edge as she was slowly forced to walk towards Shikamaru. He had won, Temari was under his shadow possession jutus. 

As both of them stopped in front of each other, as the crowd watched, they were mesmerized. It was silent with tension, except for the rookie 9. 

"Ya!! He did it!" Naruto cheered. 

"You got her! Wayda go!" Ino yelled happily. 

Choji was eating aggressively. 

Shikamaru then raised his hand, which in turn, made Temari raise her hand. 

Choji ate even more aggressively. 

Temari closed her eyes, the nerves of losing sinking in. Though she was still trying all she could to escape. 

Shikamaru let out a sigh, "The hell with it, I give up." 

Silence. 

"...Huh?" 

"Huh?" 

"HUH?!" 

Complete and utter silence. 

 "He WHAT??" 

"You gotta be kidding me!!" 

The crowd started screaming and booing again. 

"What? What did you say?" Even Genma wanted to know Shikamaru's reasons. 

"I used up all my chakra on that shadow possession jutsu. I'm good for another 10 seconds, that's it. Bummer, and here I've already planned out the next 200 moves in my head, but my chakra is running low." 

Temari is astonished, she can't even speak. 

"Anyway, if I was to win this thing, it'd just be more work." 

He just looks done, and I respect him for it. Genma just smiled and shook his head, "the winner is Temari." 

Shikamaru's shadow possession jutsu was broken and Temari could now move freely. "Man, I'm beat." 

I chuckled to myself, "this is fun." Kabuto frowned slightly, "he just lost when he didn't need to." I turned to him, "he made a calculated move. He was out of chakra, so why bother to act like he wasn't." 

Kabuto didn't comment. 

I snorted, I definitely just gave Shikamaru too much credit. He was just tired. 

"That son of a- I'm going to give him a piece of my mind!" Naruto shouted as he jumped into the arena. 

"Hey! I wanna talk to you idiot!" 

"Wo you calling an idiot, you idiot." 

They are still children.

I couldn't hear what they were saying after that because the crowd started getting restless. It was all rumours and speculation as they anticipated the next match between Gaara and Sasuke. 

Some were saying Sasuke dropped out because of an injury. Others didn't believe it. No one knew who Gaara was, so they started talking all that smack. Even the lords were gossiping. I rolled my eyes at the people, but I could understand. 

They paid, I didn't. 

They want to know what will happen, I know. 

And it just kept getting louder and louder. And it went on like this for over 10 freaking minutes. 

This isn't even fashionably late anymore, this is down right 'I slept through my alarm' behaviour. 

"Man, I swear if he doesn't show, I'll kill him! I swear I'll kill him!" I am right with you, in the show it was fast. Yet actually being here in person, I'm upset too. The crowd started chaunting Sasuke's name. 

"Uchiha!" 

"Uchiha!"

"Uchiha!!"

"Uchiha!!!"

That quickly got boring as the crowd just started to boo.

"Man, the crowd will tear him apart if he doesn't show! And if they don't, I will!" Preach Naruto.

The gossip got way worse, Genma looked at his pocket watch to count down how much time was left before Sasuke was disqualified. 

"What's he thinking?! I bet he's planning on some big entrance or something! Well I'm not gonna be impressed!" Naruto kept walking back and forth as he ranted his annoyances. 

I chuckled to myself, "he knows Sasuke so well." 

That's exactly what he does. 

"Alright, the time's officially expired." Gemma announced, making the crowd go silent. "So I'm officially calling this match-" Genma was cut off with a big gust of wind. 

There, right in the middle of the arena, stood Sasuke and Kakashi. Sasuke's hair had grown a little, and he also changed his outfit. 

"Sorry we're late, you wouldn't believe the traffic." 

I wouldn't let him fight just to be petty about his tardiness. 

"And you are?" Gemma asked for dramatic effect. 

"I am Sasuke Uchiha." 

These guys are acting like they are in a tv show. Either way, the crowd started cheering very loudly. 

Like they weren't cursing his name a minute ago. 

"Ha, so you decided to show up after all. I was betting you wouldn't come because sooner or later you'd have to face me!" Naruto looked so pumped. 

"So what about you? Did you win?" Sasuke smirked. 

"You know it!" 

Sasuke rolled his eyes cockily, "Ha, well don't get too full of yourself, you're still a loser."

Kakashi turned to Genma, "Sorry if we kept you waiting but... how late are we? Well it's not like Sasuke is disqualified, right?" 

Say he is! 

Teach them a lesson on time management!! 

"Like master, like pupil, even down to your lousy sense of time." Genma shook his head. 

"Well? What about it?" Kakashi asked. 

"You know you were so late that we extended the deadline, twice in fact. And it's lucky for you we did it, because you just made it. No, he's not disqualified." 

Kakashi sighed, "That's a relief, you had me worried there." He turned to Sasuke, "So we're ok." 

Barely! 

Gaars was staring daggers at Sasuke, as he was waiting for his arrival. 

"Just make sure you don't lose to this guy," Naruto said to Sasuke. 

"Got it." He answered. 

Naruto had a mini epiphany. "Hey Sasuke!" Naruot gave a determined look, "don't lose. Cause I want to fight you myself." 

Sasuke didn't even move. "Got it." 

Is that all he can say? 

Is he broken? 

You know what this reminds me of, Akutagawa from bsd. 

My thoughts were interrupted by the cheers getting louder. My god, these people must have been bored. 

"Alright Gaara, come down here." 

"Come on Naruto, they don't need us here," Shikamaru walked away from the arena. 

"Oh, um," Naruto looked at Sasuke. 

"Let's go, and I'm going to take the stairs if you don't mind." This man is petty. 

I love him. 

"Come on! Are you still mad I have you a little push? You otta be grateful." I laughed a little before looking at Gaara. 

And let me tell you. 

Gaara be looking a little spooky. 

I think the man is like... growling?
