Ch 46

 "It's time to begin, I'm Ibiki Morino, your examiner. And from this moment on, your worst enemy." 

I chuckled as he appeared, I don't wish to be caught by him as an enemy. There was a collection of gasped and worried small talk throughout the room. 

"First, you candidate from the village hidden in the sound. Knock it off, who told you, you could fight. You wanna fail before we've even begun." 

I raised my hands in surrender, I'm not getting blamed for something I didn't do. 

"Sorry, it's our first time, guess we're a little jumpy...Sir." 

I sighed, team Dosu sucks. 

He smirked in amusement before dropping his smile. 

"I'll say this once so listen up, there will be no fighting without the permission of the examiner. And even then, the use of fatal force is strictly forbidden. Those pigs that disobey me will be failed immediately. Do I make myself clear?!" 

No one said a word. 

Until... 

"No fatal force? That's no fun," I sighed, Sound ninja's are arrogant. True but those are mostly kids, too young to die. 

The jonin chuckled at his remark. 

"We will now start the first test of the chunin exams, hand over your paperwork. In return, you'll each be given a number. This number determines where you will sit." Can't wait to see how good my luck is. 

"We'll start the written start when you're all seated," Ibiki finished. 

"WHAT?! A written test!?" Naruto screamed. 

I laughed, you'll be fine Naruto. 

As I get my number, I find myself sitting beside Shikamaru. 

Interesting development. 

"Hello," I smirked, taking my seat. Shikamaru hummed and ignored me. 

I chuckled, "are you mad? It wasn't my fault, you know that." 

Shikamaru sighed, "I know." 

He turned his head away from me, "I'm...I'm glad...you're alive." 

I smiled and giggled, "I'm glad you recognized me." 

Ibiki started talking about the rules. 

"Everyone, eyes front. There are a few rules you need to be aware of." 

Ibiki, Ibiki, Ibiki. 

I know how you play. 

I know this whole test. 

I'm taking a nap. 

I rest my head on the desk and close my eyes. 

"What are you doing?" Ibiki pointed at me. I smiled, "don't worry about little me." He deeply frowned before ignoring me. I gave a thumbs up to Shikamaru before taking a 30 minute nap. 

Felt like sleeping in school. 

When I woke up, there were half the number of people then the beginning. "Cool," I muttered. 

"Finally up?" I smirked at Shikamaru, "oh please, you wish you were me." 

He scoffed but smiled, "you're such a drag." 

I finally decided to look at the written test, seeing what people were dying over. 

Wait... 

THIS IS GRADE 7 MATH!! 

AND GRADE 9 TOO!! 

I snorted and tried with all my might to hold in my laughter. 

"Oh...my...god...haha," I couldn't hold it all in. Some probably thought I was crying. It was until I let out a little laugh that most people got I was laughing. 

"Why is she laughing?" 

"Has she lost it?" 

"She's crazy." 

"What's so funny?" 

"Is the test easy for her?" 

"It must be." 

"Should we cheat off her?" 

"Would it be a good idea?" 

I have an Idea! 

I may not have a brain ladies, but I got a plan. I started writing the last question on the test, it was the hardest one. I noticed that everyone noticed me doing it, good. 

My plan is that more people will try to copy me if I act like I know what I'm doing. 

Yes, I don't know what I'm doing. I'm not going to go through the trouble of actually answering the questions if it doesn't matter. 

I wrote down my completely incorrect answer to the question, but I made it look like it was well thought out. 

I'm just passing time. 

"Now you're writing it?" I turned to Shikamaru with a smile, "no." 

He sighed, "what a drag." I chuckled, "don't worry, you'll pass." 

He chuckled, "how do you know that?" I smirked, "because I know you can." He couldn't suppress a smile, "I don't know what you mean." 

I rolled my eyes and looked up at Ibiki. It should be time soon for the 10th question. Ibiki glanced at me, I smirked in response. He frowned which only made my smirk grow. 

I know your game. 

You can't fool me. 

"Alright, listen up, here's the 10th and final question," Ibiki demanded. 

It is time. 

"But, before I give you the 10th question, there are some more rules that you need to be aware of." 

As the heat of the situation went around the room, the door opened. Kankuro came in. 

"Ah, made it just in time, I hope you found your trip to the bathroom enlightening," Ibiki smirked. I snickered at Kankuro's face. 

"Well, take your seat," he was lucky. 

"Very well, rule number 1, each of you is free to choose not to be given the final question. It's your decision." 

This guy is good. 

Playing with the minds of genin. 

Everyone was confused, but Temari was the first one to voice her concerns.

"Whoa, so what's the catch? Let's say we decide we don't want to do it, what happens then?" Ibiki smirked, "if you choose not to take the 10th question regardless of your answers to the other 9 you'll get a zero. In other words you fail." 

This guy is a complete sadist. 

"And that means of course your teammates fail," at this, everyone started talking, getting more and more concerned. 

"Not so fast, you didn't let me finish. If you choose to take it and fail, that person will lose the right to ever take the chunin exam again," Ibiki is the master of the mind. 

Using fear to his advantage is a good strategy. 

Now everyone is in a panic, fear is in the room. 

"Hey! That's bull man! What kinda ridiculous rule is that? There's lots of people who've taken the test before," Kiba stood up to protest. Akamaru barked in agreement. 

Cute doggy. 

But all reason was shattered then Ibiki started to laugh. It was slow, menacing and calculated. A laugh that should send a shiver down my spine. I smirked at the manipulation of this man, he was a force to be reckoned with. 

"I guess you're just unlucky, I wasn't making the rules before. But I am now." I snorted, if I didn't know what was happening I would be scared shitless. 

"Of course, if you don't want to take it, you don't have to." The silence in the room was deafening. 

"If you're not feeling confident then by all means skip it, you can come back and try again next year," Ibiki is not screwing around. 

He started laughing again as his words circulated in our minds. 

"He's good," I muttered. Shikamaru turned to me, "what did you say?" I chuckled, "you'll find out." 

I looked around the room at all the confused and concerned faces of people I know and people I don't. 

I feel bad. 

No I don't.

"Now then, if you're ready, the 10th and final question. Those who don't want to take it, raise your hand, your number will be recorded and then you're free to go." 

After the first person raised their hand, many more started to as well. They just wouldn't take the risk. I glanced at Naruto, who had his head down. 

I smiled, he will be fine. 

Naruto raised his hand, I heard a quiet gasp from Shikamaru beside me. 

"Watch," I whispered to him. 

With Naruto's shaky hand and his head still down, everyone thought that he had given up. But, he slammed his raised hand on the desk. 

The loud sound made everyone jump. 

"Don't underestimate me! I don't quit and I don't run! You can act tough all you want, you guys aren't going to scare me off! No way! I don't care if I do get stuck as a genin for the rest of my life!" 

Everyone's attention was on Naruto. 

He held everyone with his charisma. 

"I'll still be Hokage someday!" Ibiki tried again, "this decision is one that could change your life, if, or for any reason you want to quit, now is your last chance." 

Naruto was determined, "no way, I never go back on my word, that's my ninja way." 

Everyone felt better, like a weight was off their back. Smiles were all around, especially on me. 

I was so proud. 

"Well then, I admire your determination if nothing else. For those of you remaining, there's only one thing you need to do. And that's for me to tell you..." 

The suspense was killing them. Would they pass or not. 

"...That you've all passed the first exam." 

Silence. 

Then confusion. 

Everyone stared at Ibiki in shock. 

"Wait, hold on, what just happened?" Sakura stood up in surprise. "What do you mean we pass? Where's the 10th question?" I chuckled, he said you passed, you passed. 

No questions needed. 

Ibiki smiled brightly, "there never was a 10th question, not a written one anyway."
