What Hurts the Most

Author's Note: Maybe I'll just name every chapter after a song title/chorus lol. 

Loki kisses the top of your head, still cradling you against him, "Thor, when they wake, you should be the one holding them."

Thor approaches slowly, "Loki, I do not thi..."

"In their mind, they know you. They have not...WE have not..." there's a slight break in Loki's voice at the end of his sentence.

Now Thor nods once and lightly takes you from Loki, "If you are sure."

"How touching. Can you not just leave them here? Would anyone really care?" Hela scoffs, leaning against one of the alley brick walls.

Loki turns and walks to Hela, jaw clenched, "I HAVE DONE WHAT YOU REQUIRED!"

Hela pats Loki's cheek, "That's a good boy. Now, do not make me hurt you too."

"You've already done the worst," Loki mumbles stepping back.

Within a minute later, your eyes flutter open, "Th-Thor? Why are we outside?"

One of Thor's hands rests on your back supporting you, while the other is behind your head, "Yes, well...you...came to accompany us before we go back to Asgard to handle some...family matters."

You frown, no memory of anything Thor is saying, but one word sticks out to you, "...We?"

Thor clears his throat, "Yes...Loki and I..."

Now that name you know, "Loki? Your brother? Do Tony and the others know you brought him back to Earth?"

"Uhm...yes, yes they do. Listen..." Thor begins, but he ushers you back to the sidewalk entrance to the alley.

"Wai...?" you don't even have time to think.

"Head back to the tower, and I will be back to see all of you soon. Alright? Great," Thor talks fast, not letting you interject.

You're about to protest, but then you see Thor's stern expression, causing you to close your mouth. As you turn to walk away, your eyes briefly meet Loki's, who stands in the alley, and for a second, you feel an overwhelming sense of sadness run through you.

The walk back to the tower is short, only a few blocks, but the second you walk into the mainroom, you grab a drink and down it.

"Not that I'm one to talk or lecture about drinking habits, but...?" Tony raises his eyebrows.

You start pouring yourself another, "I'm surprised you're not joining me, considering Loki is here with Thor."

Some of the other members of the team were in the mainroom too, and Tony now exchanges a look with some of them.

You shrug, paying it no mind, "Anyway, doesn't matter now; they've both gone back to Asgard."

"They...what?" Tony frowns and looks at Wanda.

Wanda, out of your view, nods and starts to look through your mind, undetectably.

"Something about 'family business'," you change beverages and grab a water bottle from the fridge.

Some of the team have switched their gazes to Wanda, who stares speechless after seeing everything that has happened in the last hour.

You look around the room at every single person, "Wellll, you're all acting weirder than usual. I'll be in my room."

Once you're out of ear-shot, Nat asks the burning question to Wanda, "What did you see?!"

Wanda still watches the hallway, "Loki protected them."
