Chapter 19-first day back

Lucy's povI woke up and Tim wasn't in bed and I heard chatting in the kitchen so I get up and go into the kitchen Isabel was on her tummy time mat and Tim was sitting at the kitchen counter drinking coffee and Tamra was trying to make pancakes I picked up Isabel and sat next to Tim "Hey baby I didn't hear you come in here" Tim said "Yeah and I didn't hear you get out of bed" I said "I wanted to let you sleep in so when little miss early bird over here woke up I grabbed her before she woke you up to let you sleep" he said"Yeah but that would've been my turn you got up with her last night" "I know" "Did you ask her yet" "No I was waiting for you to wake up" "Ask me what" Tamra says "Well we wanted to know if you would be ok if we adopted you, but only if you want us to" I say "Like actually illegally make me your daughter" "Yes why does that surprise you' Tim asks "I don't know I guess with Isabel I figured that you would have your hands full and wouldn't want another burden" "Tamra you aren't a burden" I say"We love having you around and we love how good you are with Isabel"Tim says "Ok, then yes I would love to be adapted" "Great well I will get the papers started and we will go from there" Tim says Tamra comes over and hugs Tim and he instantly hugs her back and this is the first time I've seen them hug but it's clear that it isn't the first time"Since when do you two hug" I ask stealing Tims coffee and taking a sip "Since you tried to die on us" Tamra says "Well I don't plan on doing that again"

Time skip isabel is a year old tamra is adopted

Today is my first day back after maternity leave Tim and I walk into the station together and Grey calls me into his office "I want to start off by saying welcome back chen""Thanks was that the only reason or" "No we are getting two new rookies and since celina is half way through her program she needs a TO for the other half how would you like to do it" "Are you sure I'm not a TO, Sir and why can't she stay with Nolan" "Well because the two new rookies need an scutal TO where as Celina has already completed the better half of her training so she can be put with you" "And there's no one else" "There's Smitty"     "Oh yeah no I'll do it" "Thank you officer chen" "Of course" right has I was about to leave he stopped me "Oh also I didn't see any paperwork to change your name to Bradford" "Cause I wont be not here at work anyways just thought it would be easier you know so there isn't two Bradfords in the station" "Mk does your husband agree with that" "Yes he does" "Alright go get changed roll call starting soon" I start to head for the door but then two guys I haven't seen walk in and I can tell they are the new rookies "Sir reporting for duty Sir" one says "Ready for action Sir" the other one says it takes everything in me not to laugh "What the hell are you two doing in my office" Grey asks and I try to sneak out but grey holds up a hand singling for me to stay "We were told to report to you before roll call Sir" I can no longer contain it and a small laugh slips out and Grey gives me the side eye "What are laughing at" one asks in a defensive tone "Oh nothing just um nevermind" I say still trying not laugh this was either Lopez or Bradford I remember Lopez did the same thing to Nolan first day on the job but made him go to the captain "Who even are you" the same one asks again "Lucy chen nice to meet you.." my voice trails off waiting for him to tell me his name "Ricky" he says "Ok well Sir am I dismissed or is there something further more that you need from me" I say get a little bit more sarcastic as I go on "No officer chen however could you tell Lopez to stop doing this every year we get new blood"    "Yes sir" with that I leave finally change and find Lopez "Hey" "Hey was it as awesome as It looked" I laugh of course it was her "Yes actually it was till one caught an attitude with me" "So how till he washes out also don't let Bradford hear that he told me to wait till you were out of his office to do that but I Couldn't wait puls I thought you would like to witness that" "Yes I am aware he is very hesitant to let me do anything and I can't wait till he finds out I will be riding with celina the rest of her training" "Nice your first rookie" "Not technically she's John's rookie I'm just finishing what he can't" she nods and goes back to whatever she was doing before and I go into roll call and sit in between Tim and John the rookies walk in and go the the front row Tim turns to me "How much you want to bet I can get mine to wash out within the first day" "Tim really first of all your last rookie is sitting right next to you and second off look at how well that went last time you tried to get your rookie to wash out" "I think it worked out really well actually seeing as how I married her and now have two beautiful daughters" he slimes I love it when he looks at me like that especially when he thinks I'm not looking, then Grey walks in and gets everyone's attention      "Alright we got some new blood today stand up and say your names""Ricky Write Sir" "Sam Willams" they sit back down "Alright my favorite To match game last time I did this I think a pretty good job" he says as his eyes glance over to me and Tim "officer Write you will be with officer Bradford and officer Willams your with officer Nolan-" he gets cut off by Nola  "Sir who will be finishing celina's training" "I was getting to that officer Nolan, and that would be officer Chen" "Sir-" Tim starts but Grey cuts him off before he gets started "I don't want to hear it she agreed and besides its another what 5 months she's fine" I smile because I don't even have to look at Tim to know his face is not a happy one but he's not going to fight with Grey not on this anyways we go through shift as normal the first half isn't bad we only got like one call then its lunch and we all go to the food trucks Bradford and Nolan are already there and I see Angela pull up as we get there as well "Bradford" I say as I sit next to him"Chen why didn't you tell me about getting a rookie full time" "Because I figured you would take it better coming from Grey" "Translation she didn't want to deal with your reaction so she let Grey handle you" Angela says as she walks over to us"So lucy which one gave you an attitude this morning"   "Write but that not important" "I'm sorry he what" Tim says and I give Angela a look that says really "It's not important Angela pranked them told them they had to report to Grey before roll call and I may have laughed and he may have caught a little attitude but it's nothing really" "Ok if you say so" we all finish lunch and head back to work and the day goes by fast when we get back to the station I walk into the break room and hear the new rookies talking "My TO sucks he did this stupid thing where he made me walk outside of the shop because I didn't know where we were" the classic Tim test "Yeah I heard from mine that yours is a real hardass and he does these things called Tim tests and they suck apparently" "Ok and what was the whole thing about do a good job before thing like it was some inside joke between everyone" "Apparentaly your TO has a rep for marrying his rookies cause the last rookie he got he married I also heard that he was married to some junky and didn't report her" "Same one who was his rookie?""No before her I guess it was some big thing I don't know tho" I leave before I have to listen to any more of this and get ready to leave with Tim who was waiting in the car for me when we get home we find Tamra cooking dinner and Isabel in her high chair eating already I smile at me little family I've made for myself.
