Double Date

18:39, 5 June 2022

~Momo~

I can't exactly explain my dream last night.

I was sitting on the rim of a HUMUNGOUS cup of tea. The tea inside was boiling and deadly to anyone who might fall in.... Anyway, Shoto was there. He was trying to save me by making a human chain to get me and my mom off the rim of the cup. The human chain consisted of him, Ashido, Kyoka, Kirishima, Kaminari, Tsu, Uraraka, Midoriya, Iida and Bakugo. They tried their best but it was like Mom and I were glued to the cup. Then, all of a sudden, MY DAD emerged from the boiling lake of tea and pulled us down into the boiling liquid.

I woke up in a cold sweat. That was the first time I dreamed about my dad in... forever.

Especially since he left.

I already told Mom about it; she said that it was just a silly dream. But she looked generally concerned for me.

My next instinct was to call Shoto, but he probably wasn't awake, so there was no point in going to his dorm, plus Aizawa probably wouldn't let me in there, anyway.

So I just sit around, ignoring the fact that it's 5:30 AM, and I don't have to get up for another hour.

At 6:30 AM, someone knocks at my door. I wrap myself in my lavender robe and open the door.

I realize that it's Shoto and I put the robe back on the hanger, not caring if he sees me in my pink undershirt and black shorts. I don't really care how I look around him anymore as much as I used to.

"G'morning. I figured, you'd be up, you're usually awake this early."

I'd kiss him, but I haven't yet brushed my teeth, so I hug him for a long time.

"Good morning, Shoto."

He plays with my hair, clutching the strands in between his fingers. He runs his fingers from my forehead to my neck, then kisses my forehead.

"Well, I'm going to change now. We can have breakfast together," I tell him.

"Alright then," he seems as if he has no intention of moving.

"Shoto!"

"Joking, joking..." he laughs as he leaves my room and shuts the door.

Now that I think about it, Aizawa probably doesn't want him here either.

~Shoto~

I shovel breakfast into my mouth as I watch Momo talk with Ashido and Kirishima. We're going out with them on a double date tonight.

"I'm so excited!!!" Ashido Mina shrieks. "I've heard a lot of cool stuff about Strictly Delicious!"

"Yeah, I've heard about that place too," Kirishima says, "They sell soba, so I'm sure Todoroki's interested."

I roll my eyes and give him the finger jokingly. I would laugh with everyone else, but my mouth's full of food.

"I'm going to love it. I love restaurants!" I hear Momo say.

"You love restaurants because you've probably got enough to buy the whole place in your purse," Ashido giggles.

Momo rolls her eyes but she laughs.

--

The whole day, Momo seems as if she's avoiding something, not telling me something. It bugs me, but I don't mention anything.

When she's ready, she'll tell me.

I bring a small bag to Momo's because we decided I'd stay there for the weekend. I sure as hell don't wanna go to Father's house.

And so I'm in her room doing homework. Well, she's doing her homework, I'm writing in the math problems, but I'm staring at her.

She catches me this time.

"Shoto, stop looking at me."

"You're too cute, how do you expect me to do that?" I retort. She laughs at me and shakes her head. I grin.

She's so beautiful, I literally can't stop looking at her.

After I'm done with my homework, I eat potato chips as she finishes hers.

After about five minutes, she leaps onto me, knocking me flat on the bed. "Are you trying to kill me, Momo?"

"No," she laughs. "I'm done with my homework."

She kisses me and when she stops kissing me, she lays her head on my chest and closes her eyes. I wrap my arms around her and look up to the ceiling. I think it's impossible to love anyone more than I love Momo.

I love her more than anything.

~Momo~

I wake up next to Shoto, his eyes closed in sleep.

His mouth is open enough for me to see his teeth and his hair is spilled over one of his eyes.

I allow myself to relax, knowing that we probably don't have to leave for another couple of hours. Plus, his arms are around me and I don't want to wake him.

--

Shoto starts to stir.

"We fell asleep," he murmurs as he rolls over and rubs sleep out of his eyes.

"Yeah we gotta go in an hour and a half."

"Mmkay," he mumbles. He turns over to me and lazily plays with my hair, kissing the back of my neck while I read my text messages.

Ashido is very excited. I have 27 new messages from her and they're all about the Strictly Delicious place we're going to. I am looking forward to our double date. I'm just glad one of my friends actually had guts for once.

I shut off my phone and lay it on the bedside table. I turn over to Shoto and meet my lips with his.

Then, I get up and walk downstairs to make some sort of snack. Shoto follows me, shutting my bedroom door.

He sits on the couch and reads a small book while I grab a box of Pocky from the pantry. Upon seeing the box I have in my hand, Shoto smiles.

"You're crazy, you know that?"

"I know," I grin.

~Shoto~

I change into my formal wear in the room I stayed in before UA added dorms. When I come out into the hallway, I see Momo.

Did I ever say she's the most gorgeous girl I've ever seen?

She's wearing a dress that's yellow at the top but the skirt is navy blue. Her hair has a flower in it and she's wearing ruby red lipstick.

"I hope that means I look good," Momo laughs.

"Huh?"

"You're standing there with your eyes as big as the moon and-- Shoto, you're drooling."

"No, I'm not!" I snatch my hand up to the corner of my mouth and hastily wipe away any evidence that I was drooling over Momo's outfit.

"PFfffft," she does a terrible job at stifling her laugh.

She holds my hand and we walk to the bus together.

--

She looks at her phone while leaning her head on my shoulder. She's checking her texts.

Ashido Mina sent her a text that says: Can't wait for the double date. OMG That rhymed ur gorl is slay. Also is Todoroki there.

The moment I read my name I look up toward the roof of the bus. I do not need to read whatever Ashido has to say about me because I know it's going to be ridiculous and full of shenanigans.

I feel Momo look up, probably to make sure I'm not looking at her phone. I'm not, so she goes back to texting.

--

Momo pockets her phone (or purses it) when we get to the restaurant, where we see Ashido and Kirishima waving to us from the door.

Momo runs up to hug Ashido and Kirishima slaps me on the back and says hi.

"Hello, Kirishima. Nice place."

"Yeah, believe it or not, Bakugo told me about it."

Bakugo does things sometimes that I don't understand. Like calling me "Icy-Hot" and "That Half-N-Half bastard." Like asking me questions about Momo and laughing when I don't answer.

Like telling Kirishima the perfect place to go for this double-date.

We walk inside and sit at our table. I'm next to Momo and across from Kirishima. I easily order soba while Ashido gets Tempura and Kirishima gets Yakitori. Momo went with Onigiri.

While we wait for the food to come, we talk about random things. Ashido makes a lot of crude jokes about me and Momo, but Momo retaliated by making similar jokes about her. Momo is hilarious.

"So, what do you guys do over at Yao-Momo's while you're there alone? Pretty sure it has a lot to do with... short breathing," Ashido smirks.

"Mhm, as if I wouldn't see your clothes if I were to open Kirishima's closet."

Ashido blushes, which is funny with her pink complexion, but Kirishima just laughs at the two going at each other.

--

When the food comes, silence is quick to follow.

"This food is so good," Momo says.

"Yeah, shut up so I can eat it instead of having to respond to you," Mina jokes.

The two laugh.

Kirishima finishes his food very quickly. "I wonder what made Bakugo give me this place? It's unlike him."

"I'd say a good 40% of what Bakugo does is unlike him," I retort.

"True. Just, it sure is cool what he did..." Kirishima trails off. I surpress a smirk but it's endearing to see how good friends Kirishima and Bakugo are.

After dessert and a session of Ashido talking my ear off, we walk home.

We talk about the restaurant and how we wish our other friends would start dating, too. Kirishima goes to his house and Ashido is left.

"Hey, isn't your house back that way, Todoroki-kun?"Ashido asks, mischief not so well hidden under her voice.

"I'm not going there," I tell her plainly.

"Ooooooooh."

"Mina, shut up." Momo rolls her eyes. "But yes, he's staying with me."

"Just remember what Aizawa said about the wole 'preggers' thing, remember? Kay, bye, Momo-babes!" She kisses Momo on the cheek and runs off, cackling, to her house.

~Momo~

Shoto and I sit on my bed, scarfing down snacks and watching TV. His head is in my lap and I'm messing with his multi-colored hair.

"This show is far too offensive," I hear him say.

"Mm? How so?"

"The pink-haired girl's marrying the green-haired guy just because her father told her to."

Shoto can never remember anyone's name.

"Well, she's marrying him to have a better life, too, you know?" I remind him.

"If she had gone with the short dude, her life would of been better but no, she's gonna get with the green-haired man because he owns five castles. She's a gold digger, but what she doesn't know is that Mr. Green-Hairs wants about twenty babies from her."

"Seven," I chuckle.

"Whatever."

I noticed the same things about the show watching it, but I never get annoyed enough at the television to voice my displeasure like Shoto does.

Shoto sucks his teeth at something else that the main character, Itō Sakiko aka "the pink-haired girl" says and I giggle.

"What are you laughing at?" He looks up at me.

But then he starts to laugh, too.

Every time I hear him laugh, I cannot help but cheer up, and so I forget all about the dream I had.
