When you're writing stories, you don't use numerics. You use the word form of numbers. Eg: 'one' and not 1.

Even twelve-year-olds swear these days. Don't use profanity as a tool to decorate or emphasise a 'bad-boy' image.

If you're writing a teenage girl protagonist, please don't describe her as 'slim but has curves in all the right places'.

Using song lyrics is always nice, but don't overdo it, especially when writing band fics.

Stop making all the One Direction band memebers write you the most beautiful songs ever.
