While World War II AUs are quite an interesting twist, you must have historical facts and figures right. This makes them more difficult to write, so be careful.

Not every protagonist has to be British or American. They're only two out of 196 countries.

While celebrity fanfiction is a sub-category of fanfiction, it doesn't mean that you can crap all over the FF section on WP, okay?

John Green has published four individual books and co-authored two others. TFiOS isn't the only thing that's worth the fanfiction.

Having canon characters is always better than shoving yours OCs in. While I understand that OCs are nicer to work with because you've created them and can fit into their shoes better, people want to read more about canon characters than anything else in fanfics. It's the hard truth. (OC/canon is always a good mix, though.)
