2. May I have this dance?
20:04, 9 February 2021Song: fresh pair of eyes - Brooke Waggoner.
The ball, one of many, is once again the place to be in Asgard at the moment. And so Loki can't refrain himself from searching for a certain someone in the crowd.
He keeps searching through with only his eyes and it catches the eye of his brother, who happens to stand next to him.
'do you fancy her Brother?' Thor asks standing next to Loki.
'What are you talking about?' Loki replies beyond annoyed.
'This girl you're waiting for..do you fancy her?' He smirks.
'I'm not waiting for a girl brother..' Loki huffs, he fiddles with his fingers, a habit he got from watching his mother.
'I know that look...you can't fool me Loki...' Thor whispers.
'Oh really? You're saying you didn't pick up a snake to admire it then? I don't fancy her, I just...she's just a friend...'
'Is that her over there?' Thor points at a random lady to which Loki immediately turns his head. 'Where?!'
'You have officially been caught brother, why don't you tell her how you feel...ladies like honesty...' Thor lays a hand on his brothers shoulder.
'She's not some damsel in distress Thor, she's very powerful...besides she probably won't feel the same..' it's hurt lacing his tone.
'Well, you won't truly know until you tell her...' Frigga says joining the conversation.
'Have you been eavesdropping mother?' Loki rolls his eyes.
'Of course not, you two just talk so loudly...' She chuckles. 'Lets go Thor, let your brother wait here by himself.. I imagine he won't remain as patient with you breathing down his neck any longer than he already has been..'
'Where are you Sydney?' Loki mutters impatiently after his brother and mother joined the party.
'I'm right here...' her voice sounds in his ear and he smiles, he turns around but doesn't find her standing there. A slight smirk plasters itself on his face, she's playing a game with him.
'How long have you been spying on me?'
'I've been here for a few hours...' she coos.
'Are you kidding?, why didn't you say anything?'
'I'm joking, look at the door in a few seconds, I needed to clean myself up after what you did this afternoon...' she comments and Loki chuckles.
'You were the one with the fish in your hair, you did that on your own...'
'You know how to charm a girl...' she chuckles lightly.
'Did, did you hear what I said to my brother and mother?' He asks carefully, a layer of sweat spreads over his body with the mere thought of her knowing his true feelings.
'No, I can only hear you and you can only hear me...' A breath of relief leaves his lips, quietly of course.
The large doors open suddenly, Loki turns around and the moment Sydney catches his eye, he rushes through the crowd and up the steps.
'You're here...finally, I thought you'd bail on me...' Loki admits smiling and he puts his hand out for her to take it. She courtesies before taking it. 'What would be the fun in that if I couldn't see what you'd do?, besides...I wasn't doing anything anyways...'
He kisses it which makes Sydney blush a bit, she isn't used to this at all. The soft touches, the kind words. The truth is she isn't even from Asgard, not really. She's been through so much already, things that should've broken her, but she wouldn't let that spoil her night with the one person she felt most comfortable with besides her own mother.
'May I have this dance?' Loki asks pulling her from her own thoughts.
'Of course...if I can even dance in these shoes..' she wobbles with him before she steadies herself. He moves slowly so Sydney has more time to actually make it down the steps safely.
Time seems to slow when they start dancing. Loki can feel the nerves leaving his body when he looks at the girl in front of him. She easily outshines everyone tonight and he's sure a lot of royalty will complain about a commoner outshining everyone else. But for now he just wants to be with her, in the moment.
Sydney's thoughts fly out of the window as he guides her around the room. She doesn't even notice everyone else staring at the pair. It isn't until he dips her and lowers her back up that she notices the people all wide eyed and open mouthed.
'Loki, aren't you going to introduce us to this lovely girl?' Frigga speaks up, Sydney immediately turns around and bows before the queen. 'Your majesty..'
'This is Sydney....' Loki smiles.
'It's very nice to meet you lady Sydney...' Odin greets het with warmth that makes both Loki and Thor frown.
'It's very nice to meet you all too...' she shyly replies, subconsciously moving closer to Loki, still holding onto his hand.
'If you now would excuse us father...' Loki tugs Sydney with him again making a surprise squeal come from her throat.
He twirls her around and starts dancing again. 'I'm really glad you came...' he looks around to see other people joining in again.
'That makes two of us...' Sydney blushes. 'I do find it quite strange to have everyone staring at us..'
'Lets go somewhere quiet then..' Loki suggests and takes Sydney to one of the many balcony's of the castle before she can even utter a decent reply.
'D- Do you like something to drink?' Loki asks stuttering a bit.
'Loki? Is everything alright?' She can feel the nerves oozing off of him. 'You're acting quite strange all of the sudden..'
'Yes I'm quite alright...' he replies.
She decides to just leave it be, knowing how closed off Loki can come across sometimes. If something is really bothering him, he would tell her, she's sure of it.
It stays silent for a few minutes, the both of them just staring into the night.
'I had fun today...besides you pushing me into the river...' Sydney remarks.
'I'm sorry, but your guard wasn't fully up...you still need to learn..' he states and she huffs. 'As do you Lady Loki..' she remarks with a laugh.
He playfully rolls his eyes at her. 'If it wasn't for me fixing it, you would still be walking around in a dress..'
'Yes, not my best magic I suppose...'
'You think?, you have poor concentration...'
Loki keeps looking at her with a find smile, it makes her blush slightly. She doesn't even remember ever blushing with anyone other than Loki.
'What?' She asks playfully shoving him with her own body.
'Nothing...Nothing...' he quips back with a smirk.
'No tell me...' she demands laughing.
'It's nothing!' Loki replies and Sydney uses her magic and lifts the water from her glass and splashes it in his face.
She laughs and Loki wipes it off. 'Very funny Syd...also very mature...'
'I know, that's why I did it...' she says smiling.
He couldn't be in love with her more than right now. How could he ever tell her how he feels when he gets this nervous?'
