Chapter 11

Sophie's POV

Sophie purposely tried to get to foxfire after the rush hoping she wouldn't run into Keefe. No such luck. Apparently, he had the same idea. 

"Hey Foster. You're getting here kind of late. Everything ok?" Keefe pointed out as she walked by.

"Yeah, everything's fine." Sophie answered him. "What about you?"

"Good. Except someone" He pointedly looked a Ro. "decided it would be fun to wake me up late with an efluxer. Yeah, not fun."

"It was too." Ro snickered

Sophie couldn't help but smile. That did sound pretty funny. Then Sophie realized she got there late which means.

"Oh no I'm going to be late to class."

"Hey. You can ditch with me."

"Yeah. I don't think ditching a councilor is a good idea." Sophie said but that wasn't the only reason...

"Oh, that class. Yeah, you better get going." Sophie started down the hall. Then Keefe added "Oh and I don't have detention so see you at lunch." Sophie was pretty sure she was lobster red as she quietly groaned.

...

"What is this?" Sophie asked trying a new Elvin food. Again. 

"It's called pananacakes." Dex answered. (Don't ask me ask @88booklover_They suggested it.)

"It tates like frozen mushed up Eggo waffles."

"Oooo. What's an egg waffle?" Keefe asked.

"A very delicious human breakfast and it's Egg-O." Sophie emphasized the O so he would get it. 

"I want one. Please I will love you forever."  He said with puppy dog eyes. Then he realized how that sounded. "In a friend way."

"We'll see" Sophie responded not missing his slip-up.

They sat in awkward silence until lunch was over. Then they all went their separate ways.

Sophie was about to leap home when she noticed a shadow flicker then cross over hers.

we need to talk. It was Tam.

Hey! what's up.  Sophie transmitted

Meet me at the unity fountain.  He sounded stressed.

O..k. Sophie transmitted hesitantly.

...

"Hey Tam. What's up." Sophie asked.

"I'm sorry. Th-they said they could get to Linh." Tam shuddered looking at the ground.

"What-" Sophie was cut off by strong arms grabbing her. She knew those arms and the smell on the cloth that got pressed over her nose.

The neverseen.
