Scavengers Hunt Part 5

13:37, 16 May 2024

Josh, Alex, Christian and Rhys walk down the street on their way to the hospital.

Rhys: I can't believe the girls have a new assignment lined up in a hospital.  What do they want us to do?  Save a life?

Christian: If the guy doesn't just give us the next location right away.  There will be a life ending.

Josh: Guys it's okay.  This is my area.  Maybe we need to sew up someone's wound or draw blood.  Or find a lost patient.

Alex: can't wait.

Walk to the information desk of the hospital.

Josh: Hey Sarah.  We're here for the scavenger hunt.  The code is London.

Christian: Hmmm who would have come up with the codename.

Alex: Shut the fuck up

An old woman with a walker who just passed by gasps.

Christian: looks at the old lady.  I'm sorry.  One of our friends is in the hospital and this is my friend's only way to express his emotions.

Old lady: Nods and walks towards Alex and taps his upper arm twice.  It's okay to cry.  Even though you're a big boy.

Alex: Grins his teeth.  Thank you.

Old lady: Continues walking.

Christian: Smiles broadly.

Rhys: Has to hold back his laughter.

Josh: Turns to them.  I know where we need to be...did I miss something?

Alex: Christian wants to donate all his blood to the hospital.

Josh: That's great!  I mean.  Donating blood is good.  But not all your blood.  Because then you would die of course.

Rhys: Josh, just tell us where to go.

Josh: To room K-C 45. You guys must be nice.  It's the children's department.  There are very innocent patients there.

Rhys: Which means you guys have to behave.  Looks at Alex and Christian.

Alex: walk Josh.  Just walk.

Josh: Okay then.

The four of them walk towards the department.

Christian: walks next to Josh. Why are you so attached to that painting?  That cat vomit painting.

Josh: because, whoever painted it inspired me.

Christian: Keeps looking straight ahead.  What do you mean.  Did you know the artist?

Josh: No.  But I think there could be so many stories behind that painting.  I don't think he or she is actually a painter by profession.  I mean, even I have to admit that the painting is disgusting.  But the point is that whoever painted it probably did his best.  He isn't interested in what others think about it.  It's his painting.  His process.  And so you see that when you try something new it doesn't always turn out well.  That it ends in cat vomit.  But he just did what he thought was right and did it with pleasure and self-confidence.

Josh: That's how life works.  Sometimes you have to try something new even if you immediately discover that you are terrible at it.  But at least you tried and you should be proud of that and you can show that to the world. The artist probably wouldn't have known how much I was ultimately able to sell it for.  It was safety for me and Jules.  But I think that painting has made me a better doctor in a strange way.  Probably sounds stupid.  But I am still grateful to the artist.

Christian: Thank you...for telling me this.

Josh: Tries not to smile. No problem.

Josh: Looks at the room numbering43.....44...45 this is where it should be.

Step into the room.

They see 5 children between the ages of 6 and 11 sitting on chairs or bedsThe oldest girl sitting in the middle is bald but wears one of Bridget's tiara. Next to her is an IV pole that is connected to her arm.  She grabs the pole as if it were a staff and raises her chin.

Elena Well well well.  Who do we have there. Alex, Rhys, Josh and Christian. My name is Elena and I welcome you to the new part of the scavengers hunt.

The other children cheer enthusiastically

Elena: We will determine whether you get the new location that will bring you closer to your lovely girls.  Grins

Rhys to Josh: Innocent you said?
