Chapter 9

22nd December 2011

Perrie POV

Text: ‘Hey babe, long time no speak. How are you doing? If you’re not to busy do you mind if I call you later?’ –Zayn

Me and the girls have been super busy over the last few weeks since the X Factor finished. We have been doing promotion everywhere and I’m so tired. We got our number one single which we were very excited about but we haven’t really had the chance to take it all in. We have a month time off now until January because then we have to start rehearsing for the tour. Me and Zayn have been texting a bit but I feel bad because I haven’t really had time for him.

I text him back saying: ‘Yeah sorry been really busy. You can call me now if you want?’

Then I hear my phone start ringing. I hop off the sofa where me and Jade are sitting and head to the bathroom.

“Hi baba,” I say as I answer the phone.

“Hello love, how are you?”

“Yeah I’m alright. This is the first bit of time off we’ve had in ages.”

“Oh, you don’t mind me calling do you?”

“No of course not. How are you?”

“I’m alright. I’ve just finished my Christmas shopping.”

“Ooo very nice. Buy anything nice?”

“I may have brought you something. But don’t worry, it’s only little, you don’t have to get me anything back.”

“Aww thanks. You didn’t have too.”

“So when are you going to let me take you out?”

“Mmm. When you ask me nicely.”

“Okay. We’ll see about that. I’ve got to run Per cos my family is here.”

“Ok, bye. Call me soon.”

“Will do babe, bye.” And he hung up. Damn, why did I have to play hard to get and say he needed to ask me nicely. I knock my head on the bathroom door, mad at myself.

24th December 2011

It is Christmas Eve today and I haven’t texted Zayn since our phone call the other day. But he hasn’t texted me either. Maybe I scared him off. I’m in South Shields now with my mum to spend Christmas with my family and I’m really excited. I haven’t properly spent time with them in ages. Leigh-Anne is in London with her family, Jesy is in Romford and Jade is also in South Shields.  I look down at my phone and see a new text from Jade saying: ‘Hey Perrie, what you up to tonight? Me and my cousins were gonna go out if you wanna come. Let me know, love you.’

Before I have time to reply my mum shouts up the stairs, “Perrie, you have a visitor.”

“Coming,” I shout back, it is probably one of my friends from school. I run down the stairs and see Zayn at the door with a huge bouquet of flowers. My face lights up when I see his face.

“Wow. What are you doing here?” I ask.

“I’ll leave you too alone,” my mum says as I walk over to Zayn at the door.

“Hello to you too,” he says and leans in to kiss my cheek.

“Sorry I’m just a bit surprised,” I say. “How did you get here?”

“My friend from Bradford drove me up, he’s waiting in the car.”

“Oh right,” I say, wondering what he’s doing here and what he’s doing with all those flowers.

“Well anyway. I have these for you,” he says handing me the flowers, “and this for you,” he says, handing me a wrapped gift.

“Wow thank you,” I say as I put the flowers on the hall table next to me and start to open the gift.

“Woah not yet,” he says, taking the gift out of my hand and putting it on the table. “It isn’t Christmas yet.”

“Oh sorry.”

“Well I didn’t actually come all this way to give you some flowers and a box. I want to ask you, nicely, if you’d maybe want to go on a date with me,” Zayn says, getting a bit embarrassed and blushing.

“Of course I will,” I say as I take his face in my hands and peck him on the lips. “And sorry I didn’t get you a gift.”

“This is the best gift ever,” he says as he wraps his hands around my waist, looking down into my eyes. I lift my head up to his and kiss him again, this time for longer.

“So where are we going on this date then?” I ask.

“Wherever you wanna go,” he says.

“Nandos!” I say, getting excited.

“Wow. You’re sooo Niall it is ridiculous.”

I laugh as he pulls me in for a hug.

“Well I have to go baby. But I’ll see you in like a week and we’ll get um… Nandos,” he says, still holding onto my waist.

“Okay, I’ll see you then,” I say as I lean in to kiss him passionately.

When we’ve finished our make out session he lets go of me and says, “Oh god. I’m gonna miss you.”

“I’ll miss you too. Bye,” I say as I watch him walk down my path and get into the car. He waves at me as the car pulls away and I wait till it’s out of site before closing the door.

“Oooo Perrie’s got a boyfriend,” my mum mocks from the kitchen.

“I do not. It’s just a date,” I say. Thank god she can’t see me blushing.

“For now,” she says back.

I spot the flowers on the table and go into the kitchen to get a vase. I put them in the vase and place them in the center of the dining table. Then I walk back over to the table in the hall and grab my gift from Zayn, running upstairs. I can’t wait till tomorrow so I open up the present, undoing the ribbon fastened tightly around it. I clap my hands over my mouth as I open the box and see a little golden necklace with a heart on it, encrusted with little diamonds. I grab my phone off my bed and text Zayn saying: ‘OMG Wow!! It’s beautiful! Thank you so much!’ I take a picture of myself wearing it and send it to Zayn with the text. He texts back within seconds, saying: ‘no your beautiful. glad you like it : ) XXXXXX’

We text each other through the rest of the day and into the night. I told Jade I couldn’t go out with her tonight. All I want to do is talk to Zayn.
