Chapter 30

00:31, 2 June 2023

"Sandbridge." Daryl said as the sign whizzed past us. "There's some beach houses here, just hoping this place isn't full of walkers." We drove a little slower looking for houses, finally seeing a row of them lining the edge of the beach. A thick fog covered the shoreline, so we couldn't see the ocean.

Daryl parked the van nearby one of the houses, both of us climbing out cautiously, checking the area. We went over to the patio on one of the houses, over seeing the beach and the ocean. It was completely empty, I guess after all these years it cleared itself out. Since the walkers weren't much of an issue here, I was just afraid of people, there had to be survivors here. If there were people here, what kind of people would we be running into? Virginia's coastline cities were big, I mean there had to be a few survivors here.

"Let's look inside." I said to Daryl heading over to the sliding glass door, that was of course locked.

"I'll get a window open, they always leave one unlocked." Daryl shrugged.

"How do you know that?" I asked curiously.

"I've searched a lot of houses, if you don't wanna break down a door, there's always a window open or unlocked." Daryl explained. "Also, ya can always pick a lock."

"You sure, because these are rentals, I'm sure they would lock these suckers down." I added. I looked across the way at the other house, the sliding door was wide open, maybe broken I wasn't sure, but someone must've been staying there at some point, then what always happened, happened, I'm sure.

I watched the surrounding area as Daryl fiddled with the windows, a lone walker in the distance, stumbling down the street. Daryl finally got a window open, both of us climbing inside, everything smelled like dust, that's all that lined the house. Nothing was disturbed, everything was untouched, a thick layer of dust covered everything. I pulled my shirt over my mouth and nose, ridiculous, but I had a dust allergy, and once this stuff was up floating in the air, my nose would get stuffy, and I'd have a nasty cough, not something you wanna deal with on a romantic trip.

"Well let's get cleaning." I smiled. We opened all of the windows, and the sliding back door, to air things out, I tied a bandana around my face before we started.

We pulled the couch out onto the back porch and started to beat it with large sticks, to get the dust out. We needed to shake out pillows and blankets, and the curtains. We needed to wipe the dust off of everything, the counters, the table, even the bathroom, and bedroom. After shaking everything out, I was now sweeping the entire house, throwing all the dirt and dust out of the house. After a while I stood outside on the back porch, I pulled the bandana off my face taking in a deep breath. Daryl stepped out of the house and stood next to me.

"Hey, face is dirty." I said to Daryl.

"So is yours, you got a line where your bandana was." He smiled.

"I had an idea, come inside." Daryl gestured me to follow him. I followed him inside to the bedroom, there were large sheets hung over the bed like a canopy, the sheets went all the way to floor. "I made like a tent over the bed, to keep the dust out. Also I don't wanna spend all our time cleaning this house." Daryl shrugged his shoulders shyly.

"Oh, you're so sweet." I kissed Daryl sweetly. "But we're still dirty."

"Hmm, let's go wash off down there, come on." I reached my hand out for Daryl's. He took my hand and the two of us made our way down onto the beach.

I kicked off my converse, once we were closer, Daryl let go of my hand, as I tugged off my shirt, and my pants. This was amazing, I stepped into the cold water, that felt good in the afternoon sun. As the big waves came up to my hips, I dove in, staying under for a while, enjoying the silence, and the boom of the waves outside. I came up, seeing Daryl standing on the shoreline, with his boots and clothes still on, lame. I rubbed the dirt from my face, and scrubbed my arms, finally I walked out of the water onto the shoreline next to Daryl. I sat down in the sand panting heavily, the swim tiring me out.

"What're you doing?" I asked him looking up at him.

"Just watching." Daryl put his hands into the water, rubbing his wet hands over his face, before drying off using his shirt.

"Why didn't you get in?" I asked.

"Just don't want to let my guard down." Daryl shrugged.

"Fine but I will get you into that water." I pushed my dripping hair off my face. "I didn't even grab a towel, how am I supposed to get back to the house, I'll get sand everywhere, and we just cleaned."

"I can help." Daryl scooped me up easily, startling me with how quickly he picked me up. He carried me to the house, handing me my stuff as he walked past them, once we were back up on the porch he set me down.

"Gonna have to wash up, I haven't even checked to see if the water works." I wiped the water from my face with my hand.

"Probably not." Daryl grumbled.

"Won't hurt to check." I smiled. I wiped my feet, then tiptoed into the kitchen turning the faucet on, no water. A weird noise came from the pipes, until the water slowly started to trickle out until it was a full waterfall. "Holy crap the water works!" I cheered.

(Habits of my heart- Jaymes Young)

I ran to the bathroom, turning the water on in there, standing in the shower stream of cold water, not caring, I didn't even bother to close the shower curtain. I opened my eyes looking at Daryl who was standing in the doorway, was he waiting for an invitation, because I would give it him. He stood there fiddling with his fingers, glancing at me now and then, so I decided to make things interesting. I slowly unclasped my bra, taking my time to peel it off, before tossing it his way, I started laughing when it landed on his shoulder. He pulled the bra from his shoulder, and dropped it to the floor, looking at me with a smirk. I dropped my underwear to my ankles, kicking it across the floor.

"You need a formal invitation?" I furrowed my brows at him.

He came over to me, crushing his lips against mine, dropping his crossbow carelessly to the ground. The two of us struggling to get his clothes off, finally he had his pants down to his ankles, kicking his legs trying to get them off. Once he was completely naked, he backed me into the shower against the back wall, cupping my face in his hands as he began to wildly kiss me again, lifting me up the wall, bringing my legs around his hips.

"You just going to tease me, or are you gonna fuck me?" I demanded. He smiled devilishly at me, before bringing me down hard onto his length, a load gasp escaping my lips.

"Say my name." Daryl snarled into my ear, as he bit my neck.

"Daryl." I gasped, as he brought me down again. "Dixon!" I yelled as he brought me down once again.

After a while of this, his legs became weak and he couldn't hold me up anymore. He sat down with me still on top of him, and I began to move up and down. I roughly grabbed his chin making him look me in the eye.

"Who am I?" I panted.

"Hazel." Daryl grunted. "My girl." He flashed that pointed tooth of his at me, it made me crazy every time. I moved up and down rapidly receiving moans from Daryl which was a delight to me.

When we were finished, we washed up in the shower, heading to the bedroom where our stuff was. I started to pull clothes out of my bag. I dropped my towel, feeling Daryl's eyes on me, I turned to look at him, and he shoved me onto the bed climbing on top of me. Let's just say for lack of better words, a lot of sex happened, Daryl's reset time was incredible, we didn't even get dressed because we had so much sex. By nightfall we were lying in bed naked together, both exhausted, but exhilarated from our fun, Daryl had his arms around me, pressed against his chest, the both of us too tired to move.

"I wanna stay here forever." I spoke softly, nuzzling against Daryl. "But, we gotta go home eventually." I sighed. "How long can we stay here?" I looked up at him.

"I mean we can't stay in one place too long, but I mean a few weeks." Daryl shrugged.

"Things are going to be different when we get back, you know that right?" I spoke softly.

"What'd ya mean?" He looked at me.

"Well what do you think everyone thinks we're doing out here?" I smiled.

"Oh." Daryl replied bashfully.

"Don't worry about it." I kissed him gently, feeling a warmth in my chest. "They just want what we got." I smiled.

"Are we bringing this up again?" Daryl groaned.

"Whaaaat? It's not our fault that they heard us." I laughed, Daryl getting embarrassed again.

"Next time I'll have to gag ya or somethin'." Daryl said seductively.

"Is that a promise?" I smiled biting my lip.

"Only if you want it." Daryl smiled. I brought my hand to his cheek, brushing my thumb over his bottom lip. He curled his bottom lip into his mouth, my thumb with it, he gently bit down on it.

"If I wasn't so tired, I'd be up for another round." I sighed. Daryl brought his fingers to my cheek, gently brushing my hair from my face, I took his hand, and kissed it gently, nibbling the tips of his fingers.

"You sure you're tired?" Daryl mumbled. I laughed lightly, as I rolled over onto my back.

"Let me sleep for a bit then I'll be ready to go." I smirked. "Unless you plan on taking me in my sleep." I raised a brow at him.

"Is that an invite?" Daryl smirked slyly.

"I guess you'll find out, but I sleep with my knife close." I added with a light laugh. A grunt came from Daryl, either concerned or intrigued, I was unsure.

As I laid there trying to sleep, my hunger became greater than my need to sleep. I got up not bothering to grab any clothes, I lit a candle, as I went for the kitchen, with my knife in hand, probably weirding out Daryl. We had all of our food in a box in the kitchen, the rest of our stuff was in the bedroom in our bags. I stabbed a can of mandarin oranges open, drinking the juice before pulling out pieces and putting them into my mouth. I looked out the sliding glass door at the roaring ocean, I could barely see the beach as the sun started coming up. I wanted to be sprawled out in that sand so bad. Daryl wasn't comfortable with the thought of me buck naked out in the open.

Soon Daryl joined me, in just his underwear, picking from my can of oranges.

"So was that threat, or playful thing with the knife?" He asked, looking at the knife that was still in my hand.

"To you, that was playful." I smiled.

"Good." He grabbed my face kissing me again, lifting me up onto the kitchen counter.

"You gonna take me right here?" I breathed.

"God damn right I am." Daryl growled. He forced his way between my legs, a pleasurable moan escaping my lips.

This was the good life, this was a good break from reality, I knew once we left this place, Daryl wouldn't be as accessible as I would like. He would shut his emotions down again, but there was something in me that made me feel like he wasn't telling me everything behind the reasoning of this trip.
