Part 37

-Sakura's POV-

My eyebrow twitched, this proctor was very annoying. She's like Rin, popping out of nowhere. "Ibiki, did you go easy on these kids this year? There's so many people left!" The purple haired woman yelled at Ibiki. "Or maybe we've got a better bunch this year." Ibiki said quietly, the complete opposite of Anko's screaming. "Don't worry, once I'm finished, half of these kids will be gone." She said. The entire room was filled with a tense atmosphere, quiet gasps scattered here and there. Half of us? No. That can't be possible. She looked at all of us, well, she probably was, but her gaze stopped on Rin and her bird Aerius, sitting two rows in front of me, three seats to the left. They seemed to have a thirty second staring contest, until Anko screamed, "OKAY KIDS, GO HOME, I'LL TELL YOUR SENSEIS WHERE YOU SHOULD MEET ME TOMORROW" She yelled, and jumped out the window. A sea of murmurs of "she's crazy" or "we're screwed" filled the room. No one moved for a second, until Rin and Sasuke both stood up, and gave each other a nod. They walked in separate directions. Sasuke towards the door, Rin towards the window. The door slam and the sound of a gust of wind broke the silence, and everyone else slowly filed out the door.

-Rin's POV-

The chuunin exams. What a bore. It's been easy peasy so far. Well, here we are standing in front of the forest of death, having a lunch break, courtesy to Anko. I munched on a dango stick as Sakura chewed on a rice ball and Sasuke shoved tomatoes into his mouth, as usual. Sakura looked at me fretfully. "Rin this place is called the forest of death. Someone's probably going to die." She said, putting down her rice ball. I stopped chewing my red bean dango. I rolled my eyes at her. "You don't say." I said in the most sarcastic tone ever. Then I smiled, leaning back on the tree I was sitting against. "Don't worry Sakura. You've got your team. Even though you're not my favourite person, I'm still not going to let you die." I said, giving her a reassuring pat on the shoulder. Sakura smiled a bit, carrying on eating her lunch. I glanced around to see if I recognized anyone. A shock of red hair caught my eye. It was the sand team. Gaara, Kankuro, and Temari. Temari noticed, and smiled, but when Gaara turned around we locked gazes, staring at each other for a minute before deciding it was a waste of time. I turned back to my teammates, sitting on the grass talking. "Good luck kid, you'll need it." Kurama said. I snorted. "Some confidence you have for me Ku." "Do not call me by that repulsive nickname." He grumbled. I chuckled under my breath. "This is about to get real."

As usual, I zoned out as all the rules were explained. Team 7 got a Heaven scroll and we were set to roam the forest of death. We walked cautiously, alert for danger. Sakura gripped a kunai nervously, Sasuke Walked up front, and I tailed the group, my hand hovering over my dagger sheath. There was the sound of a twig racking behind me, and I whipped around, pulling out my dagger with my right hand, a teleportation kunai in my left. A team from the waterfall village stood in front of us. A short, thin kid with spiky blue hair, a tall lanky one with gravity defying black hair, and one crouched in th back with smooth brown hair. A team of all guys. Don't come across that very often. "Give us your scroll, unless you want to get hurt." The bluette said. I snorted. "As if." I said, charging at the guy as he and his teammates fanned out. In a flash, the black haired giant was face to face with me, a katana in hand. I yanked out my dagger with my right hand, my black nunchucks in my left. I know it seems like a weird combination of weapons, but I have my own style ok? Our blades clashed with an ugly clanging sound, and I flicked my wrist, nunchucks sailing behind me to hit the blue midget facing Sakura in the head. I slid away from the team, my own team's backs colliding into mine. Finally, some action.
