Argument

Tony, Steve, Bruce and Fury were already in the lab, but it seemed like they were arguing.

"I was wrong, Director. The world hasn't changed a bit", Steve says as me, Natasha and Thor came into the lab.

"Did you two know about this", Bruce asks me and Natasha, pointing to the screen that showed a missile.

"You want to think about removing yourself from this environment, Doctor?" Natasha says.

"I was in Calcutta. I was pretty well removed", Bruce says.

"Loki is manipulating you".

"And you've been doing what exactly?"

"You didn't come here because I bat my eyelashes at you".

"Yes, and I'm not leaving because suddenly you get a little twitchy", Bruce says. "I'd like to know why S.H.I.E.L.D is using the Tesseract to build weapons of mass destruction".

"Because of him", Fury says, pointing at Thor.

"Me?" Thor asks.

"Last year, earth had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match which leveled a small town. We learned that not only are we not alone, but we are hopelessly, hilariously, outgunned", Fury explained.

"My people want nothing, but peace with your planet", Thor says.

"But you're not the only people out there", Fury says. "And you're not the only threat. The world is filling up with people who can't be matched. Who can't be controlled".

"Like you control the cube?", Steve asks suspiciously.

"Your work with the Tesseract is what drew Loki and his allies to it. It's a signal to the nine realm that the earth is ready for a higher form of war", says Thor.

"Higher form", Me and Steve asks in unison.

"You forced our hand. We had to come up with...", Fury was cut off by Tony.

"Nuclear Deterrent. Because that always calms everything right down", Tony says.

"Remind me again how you made your fortune, Stark", Fury says.

"I'm sure if he still made weapons, Stark would be neck deep...", Steve gets cut off by Tony.

"Wait, how is this suddenly about me", Tony asks.

"I'm sorry, isn't everything?" Steve asks.

"I thought humans were more evolved than this", Thor says.

"Excuse me, did we could to your planet and blow stuff up", Fury asks.

"Are you boys really that naiive? S.H.E.I.L.D monitors potential threats", Natasha says.

"Captain America's on threat watch?" Bruce asks.

"We all are", Natasha says.

Everyone began to talk at once, arguing. I looked over and I saw that the scepter was glowing. This thing was taking control of them.

"Guys, stop!" I shouted. Everyone looks at me. "This is what Loki wants. Stop arguing for once in your damn lives".

"Pain, who's side are you on?" Tony asks.

"Who said anything about taking sides?" I asked. This is definitely the work of the scepter. Tony would never say something like that to me.

"You seem like you're taking Natasha's side. Is that because she's your mother", Tony says. I keep on trying to convince myself. This isn't Tony speaking. The scepter is doing this.

Natasha looks at Tony. "Stark, leave her out of- ". I cut Natasha off.

"You know I'm adopted, Tony. Being her daughter has nothing to do with this", I said.

"Does being Loki's daughter have something to do with it?" Tony asks. My eyes widened. How did he know about that?!

"We found out when Fury interrogated Loki" Natasha said.

"And your Uncle told me", Tony said.

I noticed Fury reaching towards his gun. "And now you think I'm just like him", I said.

"Are you?" Bruce asked.

"Hey, you mind showing some respect?" Natasha asked.

"Pain, what were you doing in Loki's room?" Tony asked.

"It was my fault. I told her the truth  and it was too hard to process", Thor said.

"We're going to have to question her", Fury said.

"You will not touch her", Thor said, stepping in front of me. Nat steps in front of me as well.

I knew Natasha was loyal to Fury and I knew she'd always stand up for me. But given the choice between standing up for me or being loyal to Fury, I always thought she'd choose Fury.

"She's Loki's daughter!"

"She's my daughter too! So is it too much to ask that you leave her alone?"

"She's going to turn on us!"

"She's confused! Leave her be!"

"Romanoff, open your eyes! She's an enemy!"

"She's not an enemy! She's a kid!" Mom shouted.

"She's a threat, that's what she is", Fury said.

"Look at her! Do you see Loki or do you see a scared girl?" Natasha argued.

"She has too much of Loki in her. We have to-"

"Fury, I've been an agent for you for years. But I can not let you hurt Zia".

I had no other choice. I ran towards the scepter as everyone shouted over each other. Everyone was shouting about what to do with me and I couldn't take it. I grabbed the scepter.

"WOULD EVERYONE SHUT UP FOR ONE GOD DAMN SECOND!" I screamed. Everyone looked at me. Fury reached for his gun. "I'm not like him. I don't know who I am anymore", I sobbed. "I want to stop feeling like everything is falling apart. I don't want to be like him. I can't...I can't be evil".

"You're not evil, Zia", Natasha said. "You don't have to be like your Dad".

"Then why does everyone want me dead?" I asked.

"Zia. You're scared and you're confused. We can talk calmly. And you don't have to go to a cell or an interrogation room. Just put down the scepter", Steve said.

"Loki said my powers would put me in danger. How do I know I can trust any of you to fight by my side?" I asked.

"Sweetie, you know you can trust me", Natasha said.

"And you can trust me too. I promise I will help you, Zia. You can count on me, I'll be there", Steve said.

"As will I. Put down the scepter, Zia", Thor said.

"If I do that, you'll keep fighting", I said.

"We won't. We promise", Bruce said.

My face was wet from tears. I set the scepter on the table. I took a shaky breath.

"See, no one's fighting anymore. Step away from the scepter", Steve said.

"You're one of the bravest people I know, Zia. I know you can get through this. You just have trust us and trust yourself", Natasha said. I stepped away from the scepter.

I walked towards Natasha and grabbed her hand. I slowly began to feel better as I looked at my mother and her reassuring smile.

Then, an explosion went off.
