Reception

09:18, 25 December 2023

The reception took place in a room close to where the ceremony had been. Of course everything was perfect, just as Ginny planned. There were workers and other sorts who were supposed to help at wedding events at One Great George Street, but she snapped at so many of them that they didn't like coming near her as much.

The food was incredible with three courses. There was a bar, and everybody was having a grand old time.

When the cake came out, Draco grinned at Hermione, his eyebrows raising up and down suggestively.

"Oh, no. Not in my face, Draco!" She exclaimed when she saw his large grin. "No way!" She tried walking away, but he pulled her back.

"Oh, come on!" He protested. "Fine, not in the face." She stopped tugging and looked back at him, suspicious.

"You better not be lying, Draco Malfoy." She accused him with her finger pointed at him.

He grabbed her hand, and they started walking over to the cake, with everyone standing up and cheering as they passed. "I wouldn't dream of lying to you!" He smirked and she glared back.

Their cake was three-tiered, and each tier was square. The primary colour was white, but each of the pieces had a dark green ribbon lining it. There were red roses sitting on each level, as well. They looked at the cake and then each other.

"Shall we?" Draco put out his hand, a smirk still playing on his face.

Hermione glared. "Fine."

They picked up the cake-knife together, and everyone around them was watching. The cake was soft and the knife slid right through. Draco helped cut a piece, and they put it on a small white plate.

He looked at her. "Ready?" His face was serious, as he grabbed a piece of the cake slice.

She still looked cynical but grabbed a piece of it too. "Okay. One, two- HEY!"

He had kept his word and not shoved cake all over her face, but he did shove it in her mouth. They both started laughing, and while he was smiling at the crowd who was clapping and laughing along, she shoved the cake into his mouth, his eyes going big.

He shrugged his shoulders. "I guess I deserved that." He picked up a napkin and gently wiped Hermione's mouth clean. "You're so pretty with cake all over your mouth," he grinned.

She laughed and began cleaning off his mouth, too. "Do you want me to tell you that you're handsome with cake all over your mouth, now?"

He smirked. "I mean, I know I'm always handsome, but...."

"Yet again, very humble, Malfoy," she smiled and kissed him on his lips.

Ginny ran over to them, out of breath. "Hermione! Are you going to toss your bouquet now?" Hermione looked at the pregnant woman.

"Um...sure?" She glanced at Draco. "I mean, is there anyone here who wants a shot at catching it?" She wasn't sure who of the Hogwarts people were single, and none of the Malfoys were.

Ginny rolled her eyes. "Uh, yes, Hermione!" She grabbed Hermione's hand and pulled her forward until she was in the middle of the dance floor. Nobody was dancing yet. and she felt awkward standing there.

Ginny ran over when Hermione hadn't said anything. "Alright, everybody!" She shouted. "Any of you single ladies who would like to catch this gorgeous bouquet, come stand up here! Even if you're dating someone, come on up!" Quite a few women ran up, to Hermione's surprise.

There was Lavender who was single again, Luna, Parvati Patil from Hogwarts (Padma was married and sitting), Pansy Parkinson, Susan Bones and a few others of whom she didn't remember their names.

"Okay." Hermione held the bouquet above her head. "Ready? One-two-THREE!" A second later she heard squealing. Someone had definitely caught it, so she turned around.

"Pansy caught it, Hermione!" Ginny yelled, pointing to Pansy Parkinson. "Pansy, you're going to get married next!" Ginny nudged her, making Pansy blush.

Hermione was starting to walk away when Draco came over, dragging a chair behind him. "One more thing, Granger!" He grinned.

"What-oh, seriously?" She rolled her eyes. "Alright, fine."

"Alright!" He yelled over the crowd, looking smug. "All you bachelors get up here!"

She sat down in the chair and expected him to just pull off the garter with his hands.

"Oh, Merlin!" She jumped in her chair when she felt Draco's teeth dragging the garter off her leg.

"Draco!" She whacked him.

"What?" He smirked. "It's more fun that way!"

He stood up, and the bachelors were cheering, ready for the toss. "One-two-THREE!" The garter flew into the crowd, and Neville caught it with one hand. He looked over at Luna, and she reddened.

"Looks like they're getting hitched soon!" Draco laughed.
