Draco helped Hermione out of the alley, then across the street, and up all of the stairs until they arrived at her apartment. The atmosphere was awkward as they both remembered what had transpired the day before when Draco had shown up.

Hermione opened her door, and they walked inside. Crookshanks ran up to her and meowed, rubbing his sides against her legs, begging for attention.

"Hi, Crookshanks!" She crooned. "How's my kitty doing?" She bent down and pet him as he circled around and around her enjoying every second of it. "Let's get you some food."

Draco stood at the door, not sure what he was still doing there. He felt that if he left her, and she got hurt then it would be his fault. Although, he knew he had already hurt her mentally, so it didn't make a lot of sense.

Hermione set the cat food dish down for Crookshanks and looked up like she didn't realise Draco was still there.

"Do you need something?" She asked. It actually sounded a bit harsh.

He knew what he needed, which he told her the day before, but something told him that wasn't what she meant.

"No, I'm good," he said, backing away. "I'll just...go." He pointed to the door, opened it and walked out, the door shutting behind him.
