Aftermath

Draco noticed Morris watching him from Blaise's yard as he strode over.

"Hey, everything is alright, over at the Muggles," Draco told Morris, pointing his thumb over his shoulder as he caught up to him. "Are you going to Obliviate him?"

Morris was occupied, looking in another direction. "Yes, I am heading over there now. I'm still a little shaken over what happened earlier, to be honest. Esther completely removed all protection when she left. It's as if she wanted some random person to find Zabini." He paused. "Not that I am not glad he was found, but you know what I mean."

Draco nodded. "I am sure she did want him found. Despite whatever happened, Zabini was her husband, and I am guessing she couldn't stand the thought of him lying there for who knows how long."

Morris put a hand on Draco's shoulder and then started on his way to Felix's house. Draco thought of something before Morris got far.

"Morris! Where is Hermione?" She wasn't amongst the officers outside, and he knew she wouldn't have stayed in that house after what both of them had seen. Not if she could help it.

"Who?" Morris turned to address Draco. "Oh, Granger? She found the cat, and we are taking it back to the Ministry."

"So, you think it has something to do with Zabini, then?" Draco questioned, now interested.

"May very well be," Morris nodded.

"Where did Granger go?" Draco repeated. "I came here with her."

"Oh, she got called away. Something about an urgent message," Morris said nonchalantly.

"Wait, you mean an owl came here in the middle of this investigation?" Draco exclaimed. Owls weren't supposed to bring messages when so many wizards were around like that.

"No, no," Morris assured him. "Someone Apparated here at the Designated Spot and told Granger she had a message at work. She went back with them."

Draco felt protective of Hermione and wasn't sure why. Maybe it was because they were together for a couple of days and now she was gone all of the sudden?

"Do you need me anymore?" Draco asked but didn't wait for an answer. Instead, he sped to the Apparition point, and before he left he distantly heard, "Uh-no, we are okay. Are you?"
