JAY-JAY POV

It was the next day, and I woke up tangled with Keifer.

His arm was heavy across my waist, his breath warm against my neck.

For a moment, I didn't move — just listened to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, the kind of sound that made the world feel safe.

I shifted slightly, and he groaned, tightening his hold. "Don't even think about it," he mumbled, voice thick with sleep.

I laughed softly. "You're clingy."

He cracked one eye open, his messy hair falling into his face. "Clingy? No. Protective."

I rolled my eyes, but my lips curved anyway. "Sure."

We lay there in silence, the morning light spilling across the sheets.

It should have been peaceful, but my mischievous streak was already stirring. His grip was strong, but his guard was down.

Carefully, I reached for the pillow beside me and pressed it lightly against his face. He sputtered, pulling back with a shocked laugh. "Jay!"

I burst into giggles, clutching the pillow like a shield. "Consider it payback for yesterday's dunk in the ocean."

Out of nowhere, he started kissing me all over my face — my forehead, my cheeks, even the tip of my nose. I squealed, trying to push him away, but his laughter made it impossible not to smile.

"Get ready," he said, eyes gleaming with mischief.

"Where?" I asked, suspicious.

"We're gonna explore the island," he declared, already pulling the blanket off me.

I groaned, burying my face in the pillow. "But didn't we agree not to do anything today?"

He leaned down, brushing another kiss against my temple. "Correction: you agreed. I never signed that contract."

I peeked up at him, narrowing my eyes. "You're impossible."

He grinned, tugging me upright. "And you're mine. Which means you're coming with me."

I sighed dramatically, but the truth was, his excitement was contagious. Soon we were walking barefoot along the sand, the morning sun painting the ocean in gold. Keifer carried a small pack slung over his shoulder, looking far too smug.

"What's in there?" I asked.

"Supplies," he said mysteriously.

I raised a brow. "Supplies for what?"

He smirked. "For surviving your pranks."

I laughed, shaking my head. "You're ridiculous."

I decided if Keifer was going to drag me into "island exploration," then I was going to make it interesting. So I slipped into the most revealing outfit I owned — a breezy top that barely counted as one, shorts that showed more than they covered, and a grin that promised trouble.

When I stepped out onto the porch, Keifer froze mid‑stretch. His eyes widened, his jaw slackened, and for once, Mr. Smug had no words.

I tilted my head, feigning innocence. "What? Too much?"

He cleared his throat, running a hand through his messy hair. "Jay... you're going to kill me."

I smirked, brushing past him. "Good. That's the plan."

As we walked along the trail, I made sure to tease him — darting ahead, pretending to get lost, then popping out from behind trees with a mischievous grin. Every time, Keifer's protective instincts kicked in, his voice sharp with worry until he saw me laughing.

"You're impossible," he muttered, grabbing my wrist after the third time.

I leaned closer, whispering, "And you're mine."

He groaned, half‑exasperated, half‑amused, but his crooked smile gave him away. "One of these days, your mischief is going to backfire."

I grinned, tugging him toward the sound of waves. "Maybe. But until then, you'll just have to keep rescuing me."

And as the path opened into another hidden cove, I realized that my chaos wasn't just a game — it was the spark that kept us laughing, kept him on his toes, and kept our love burning brighter than the island sun.

The hidden cove was breathtaking — turquoise water lapping at smooth rocks, sunlight spilling like liquid gold across the surface. Keifer dropped the pack with a flourish, pulling out towels and a bottle of water like he'd been planning this all along.

I raised a brow. "So this is what your mysterious 'supplies' were? Hydration and fabric?"

He grinned. "And snacks. Never underestimate me."

I laughed, shaking my head, but my mind was already plotting. While he busied himself laying out the towels, I slipped off my sandals and tiptoed toward the water. The tide was cool against my ankles, and I crouched low, scooping up a handful.

"Jay..." Keifer's warning tone carried across the cove.

I turned, feigning innocence. "What?"

He narrowed his eyes. "Don't you dare."

I smirked — and threw the water straight at him.

He sputtered, wiping his face, then lunged. I shrieked, darting back into the shallows, but he was faster. In seconds, his arms were around me, lifting me clean off my feet.

"Keifer!" I squealed, kicking wildly. "Put me down!"

"Nope," he said, carrying me deeper until the water reached his waist. "You started this."

I wriggled, laughing so hard I could barely breathe. "Fine! I surrender!"

He leaned in, his grin wicked. "Too late." And with that, he dropped us both into the water.

We surfaced, gasping and laughing, the cove echoing with our chaos. I splashed him back, he retaliated, and soon the quiet paradise had turned into our playground.

Finally, breathless, I floated on my back, the sky endless above me. Keifer swam closer, brushing wet hair from my face. "You know," he said softly, "I don't mind your mischief. It keeps me on my toes."

I smiled, my heart swelling. "Good. Because I'm never going to stop."

He chuckled, pressing a kiss to my forehead. "Then I'll never stop rescuing you."

And in that moment — tangled in laughter, saltwater, and sunlight — I realized the island wasn't just ours to explore. It was ours to claim, one prank, one kiss, one chaotic adventure at a time.

By the time we left the hidden cove, the sun was dipping low, painting the sky in streaks of orange and pink. My clothes clung to me, still damp from our ridiculous water fight, and Keifer looked far too smug about winning yet again.

"You're insufferable," I muttered, swatting at his arm.

He grinned, leaning down to kiss my cheek. "And yet, you're still walking beside me."

I rolled my eyes, but my lips curved anyway. "Only because you'd get lost without me."

The trail wound back toward the resort, the sound of waves following us like a soundtrack. Every few steps, Keifer would nudge me, or I'd dart ahead just to make him chase me. It was chaos, but it was ours — laughter echoing through the trees until the resort's lights came into view.

The place looked magical at sunset: lanterns glowing along the paths, palm fronds swaying in the breeze, the faint hum of music drifting from the open‑air lounge. Keifer tugged me closer, his arm sliding around my waist.

"Home sweet resort," he announced dramatically, pushing open the door to our suite.

I collapsed onto the bed, still laughing. "You're ridiculous."

He followed, flopping down beside me, his hair damp and messy. "And you're soaked. Which means..." He paused, eyes gleaming with mischief. "...we're taking a shower. Together."

I gasped, smacking his chest. "Keifer!"

He only laughed, pulling me into his arms, his forehead pressed to mine. "What? It's practical. And romantic. Perfect combination."

I shook my head, but I couldn't stop smiling. The chaos of the day melted into something softer as I curled against him, the sound of waves faint through the balcony doors.

And in that moment — tangled in his arms, our laughter still lingering in the air — I realized that this was what love looked like for us. Messy, mischievous, endlessly sweet, and wrapped in the magic of the island resort.
