Class Wars 3

Continuing the previous chapter.

Several hours have passed and Conan was sent to go to his lodge for his behaviour, Amajiki was resting on his bed. They both didn't speak a word to each other and just sat in silence.

Ayumi was sitting next to Haibara on a wooden chair. Everyone was sitting around the campfire, they were now playing guess the movie.

Haibara yawned bored and Ayumi looked at her, Haibara sensed Ayumi looking at her so she turned her head and looked at her, on the same level.

"Do you need something Ayumi-chan?" Haibara asked. "No..well maybe, actually I need to talk to you about something." Ayumi said nervously, that only made Haibara's confusion rise as they both got up and walked towards the lake.

"What is it Ayumi-chan?" Haibara asked her while they stood facing each other. "I noticed Conan-kun's behaviour earlier, and it's not like him to be violent, surely you noticed that too didn't you?" She said looking at Haibara, trying to read her eyes, but as usual, Haibara always had her pokerface and emotionless face.

"Yeah, but I'm sure he was just annoyed at the guy, he catcalled the both of us you know." Haibara said lying. "But still, he wouldn't react that way, also, did you see his eyes when Amajiki-kun called you a bïtch, he was furious." Ayumi said, she wanted to say something else but was hesitant.

Haibara just stood there, looking for a proper answer. "Ai-chan..I think Conan-kun...likes you.." Ayumi says finishing her sentence, looking away, tears were starting to sting her eyes. Haibara looked at her friend's face and for a moment she had a sympathetic look but quickly hid it. "I highly doubt that Ayumi-chan, we fight almost all the time, he's insufferable." Haibara said, trying to convince her.

"Are you sure? I mean..what if he does.?" She asks again trying to not let her tears fall. Haibara knew Ayumi was hurting, she then hesitantly held her hand, Ayumi was shocked since it wasn't like Haibara to show any affection, even if it was a little amount, Haibara cleared her throat before saying. "I'm sure Ayumi-chan, and even if he did, I won't ever like a guy like him, he's a corpse-magnet and a headache provider." She says receiving a giggle from Ayumi. Haibara sighed in relief when she saw her friend smile, she smiled too and let go of her hand.

Then Ayumi hugged her tightly and let go after seconds, letting Haibara breathe. "You're right, I guess he was just protecting the both of us, that's more like him." Ayumi said and looked at the lake. For a minute, Haibara looked at her friend when she wasn't paying attention, she felt guilt rising in her and a little sad. What she said about Conan wasn't a lie though, he was a corpse-magnet and a big headache, and about the like thing, she wouldn't actually like a guy like him, but she never said she would never like him.

Haibara sighed and opened her mouth to speak. "Okay let's go back to the campfire." She says grabbing Ayumi's attention. She nodded and they both walked back to the campfire, there were less students, they had went to sleep, only a few remained. "Mitsuhiko-kun, where's Genta-kun?" Ayumi asks walking towards him. "Oh he just went to sleep a few mins ago, and I think I will too, goodnight Ayumi-chan, Haibara-san." He says before getting up and walking to his lodge.

Both Haibara and Ayumi sat together with the few people that were left, they were just chatting when Ayumi yawned. "You look tired, you should probably go to sleep." Haibara says to her and Ayumi nods getting up. "What about you, Ai-chan?" Ayumi asks as Haibara gets up. "I'll just stroll around to clear my head a little, then I'll go to sleep, let me walk you to your lodge." Haibara says as they walk together to Ayumi's lodge.

"Goodnight Ai-chan." Ayumi says. "Goodnight Ayumi-chan." Haibara then walked away after her friend left. 'I wonder what that boy is doing.' Haibara thought as she walked towards the lake again, but this time farther ahead.

She sat there for 10 mins, just looking at the lake as the moon reflected on its surface, these kind of hours relaxed her, she sighed, closing her eyes, she breathed through the air and opened her eyes when she felt someone's presence, she turned her head and saw a figure walking towards her, she got up to see who it is, she saw a pair of glasses, and the moonlight was reflecting on them.

Conan came into view, he looked tired as he walked towards her. "What are you doing here?" He asks her as he settles down and she sits down as well beside him. "I was just clearing my head, what are you doing here." She asks, emphasizing the word you. "Can't sleep." He said as he let his head fall down on her shoulder, breathing in her strawberry scent, he could fall asleep right there, if it wasn't for the people behind them in their lodges.

"Why? Because your ice queen isn't there by your side?" She said teasingly. Conan let out a deep chuckle. "Exactly." His voice becoming more hoarse. It was always his morning and tired voice that made Haibara's stomach churn.

She didn't know why it affected her, but at the same time she did. She sighed and rested her hand on his hair, playing with a loose strand. "I talked with Ayumi-chan earlier." Haibara said and Conan hummed, telling her to continue. "She told me she thinks you have a crush on me." Haibara said and Conan opened his eyes and looked up from her shoulder, then went back to his position.

"And? What'd you tell her?" He asks confused. "I denied it of course, she looked so hurt, I couldn't tell her." Haibara said remembering her friend's hurt expression. "You do know, sooner or later we're gonna have to tell them." Conan said sighing. "I know, I'm dreading that day." Haibara says looking at the shining lake.

They then sat in silence for 5 mins, Haibara yawned getting sleepy, "I think I'll go to bed now, you should too." Haibara says as she stopped playing with his hair. She didn't earn any response nor felt any movements. "Shinichi..?" She asks, still no answer. She lowers her head and looks at his face. His eyes were closed and he had a comfortable look on his face, she felt guilty for what she was about to do, but they had to get up.

"Shinichi..hey Shinichi, wake up." She said shaking him awake. He hummed as he got up from resting on her, he looked at her and groaned. "Come on, go sleep on your bed." She said helping him as they got up. "But I want to sleep with you." He whined and she sighed. "Too bad we're on a school trip, now let's go." She said pulling him and walking to his lodge.

"Go straight to bed, alright?" She said as he nods and walks in. She then proceeds to go to her lodge. She yawned walking up the stairs and into her room, thank god her roommates were sleeping, she changed her clothes and got into bed, before dozing off.

Jodi Camp, 9:41 am..

The next morning was normal, the teacher had planned their day with activities to do and other fun things.

4 days have passed and it was just the usual, they had 2 more days until their school trip ends, the teacher called everyone to tell them the plan for the day as everyone sat down, some were tired, others were ready with energy.

"Okay! Today we'll go hiking up a small mountain, it's gonna be so much fun, what do you guys think?" The teacher asked as medium loud cheers were heard, it was obvious people were tired, because most of the students stayed up late, singing karaoke, while others couldn't sleep because of the music.

"Everyone, get ready, bring a lot of water bottles because this will be a long hike!" The teacher said as everyone got up and went to pack their stuff.
